Get Advice From Travel Agents Before Booking Your Holiday

By Thomas Alexander

When you think about travel agent jobs, what do you think of first? Which aspects of how travel agents travel are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave? You be the judge.

In an exhaustive report on the impact on tourism of the recent Asian tsunami, Visa International notes that Australia is the only market not relying mainly on the internet for travel information on Asia. In fact, 58 of Australian respondents in the global research reported their first stop was a travel agent. Well Ubud was very touristy and expensive, although they really had some fabulous items to buy. Lovina is much less a tourist destination, so things are less expensive if you bargain.

Once the training is complete, a work at home travel agent will have to make the decision to go it alone or align oneself with a host agency. For the new travel agent, the best choice may be to coop with a host agency. I ended up buying my tickets through an agency already because I wanted to buy before July for tax reasons. I did get a reasonable deal! Home-based travel agent positions by host agencies offer either a part-time or full-time home-based travel agent job. Or consider starting your own home-based travel agent business. In addition, you might want to look for an agent who is a cruise specialist -- either at a cruise-dedicated agency or within a larger general agency -- to get the best service.

If you don't have accurate details regarding travel agent jobs, then you might make a bad choice on the subject. Don't let that happen: keep reading.

They have always been more of a corporate travel agency, but became even more of one when personal travel slacked off. Now I'm not saying we should be corporate real estate agents (whatever that is), but what I am saying is we need to shift to keep things relevant. Arrival and departure times, hotel check-in and check-out policies, directions to the rental car agency, all can be overwhelming to most travellers. Leave those critical details (they're all interconnected, too) to a travel counsellor who has instant access to it all. At least the agencies will suffer from reduced burden.

Those who unnecessarily book trips through pricey middlemen (as opposed to directly with local hotels and suppliers) or use on-site contacts that charge exorbitant rates are disqualified. Even so, the travel specialists who make the grade can be expensive. They definitely don't think that such sites are in any way cheaper unless you use their "featured" deals. The best way to find the best deal is to do your own research and get quotes from leading UK travel agents and holiday companies.

If you are planning on international travel, they can advise you of things you need to know like hotel prices and you can find out what some of the laws are that might affect you. ASTA anticipates that tour companies will make clear to agents that the mark up taxes are included in the quoted price and need not be paid by the retailer. If you do not have evidence of that practice, you must ask and retain the evidence in writing so later audits by New York City can be answered. Some of the advertised prices are widely available to all travellers and there are hotels and airlines that will not honour the card when presented for a discount or upgrade.

If you've picked some pointers about travel agent jobs that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You won't really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge on travel agents travel if you don't use it.

Vaction Homes Can Save You Money On Your Vacation

By Bob Ranallo

DRG Property Services offers many housing options such as townhouses, condo's and regular homes at rates that are affordable for many families. You can save money too by going on vacation during the "off season" such as after Labor Day. The kids are back in school and the traditional vacation season dies down dramatically and you can take advantage of the great weather well into the fall season.

Renting a home with a kitchen and bringing or buying your own food can help save money on food and feeding your family. Most of DRG's properties have kitchens and doing this will dramatically cut down on your food bill. Depending on the size of your family, eating out can be quite expensive.

If you are renting a car in Orlando, set up your rental on line to save even more. Rent an economy car, then when you pick up the car, ask for an upgrade and try to get a mid-size. Many times the rent-a-car places run out of economy vehicles and will give you the upgrade for free. Always remember to ask, the worst they can say is no.

By booking your flight reservations 2 weeks in advance on-line, you will also save money on air fare. Shop on-line for the best deals but also check for any restrictions. And don't forget to work with a travel agent who can offer advice and counsel.

After your week at the place you rented, please remember to leave the house as clean as you found it. Most property services companies charge a hefty fee to clean (or repair) a house that goes beyond just a normal cleaning. For example, take all the trash out, clean the kitchen and put all furniture back where it was. Report any problems immediately to the property owners so quick repairs can be made.

Havana Hotels: Ambos Mundos Hotel

By Jose Maurette Garces

The impressive Hotel Ambos Mundos with its extraordinary views over the burgundy tiled roofs, towards the Plaza de Armas in Old Havana and the echo of the exchange between time and the illustrious personalities, is an exquisite property which stands out amongst all Havana hotels.

The magnificent Ambos Mundos Hotel counts over 50 rooms. The double or twin beds and its furnishings are modern and the cream-tiled bathrooms are neat and clean. 36 of the standard rooms have matrimonial beds and the other 13 are twin bedded.

One of the best features of this hotel is the Del Monte Saloon. This spacious place can be divided, according to necessities, into two acoustically independent rooms. Its all-round characteristic is easy to see with the use of its own furnishings for banquettes, business meetings or plenary sessions.

Also paintings of Yanes, Casiguaya and other painters that illustrate the connection between culture and tourism are shown in Ambos Mundos Saloons, something very valuable in order to enjoy the real cultural Cuban spirit during your holidays.

Another striking feature of this Hotel is its privileged roof terrace where not only can you enjoy the best views of the Old Town area, the entrance of Havana's Harbour and the impressive architecture surrounding its vicinity including some of the oldest fortresses built by the Spanish Colonization but also the best Mojito cocktails in Havana.

If you are looking for a good hotel in Havana with small yet very comfortable and airy rooms; whose rates are not too expensive then I strongly recommend the Ambos Mundos Hotel. Its location, service and rooms put Ambos Mundos Hotel at the top of the list of the best hotels in Havana. The fact that the American writer Ernest Hemingway stayed in this hotel over 2 years also make it very appealing to travellers.

Handy Traveling Tips

By Graham McKenzie

Whether a trip has been adequately planned for or a spur of the moment decision, it still may prove to be an unsettling occurrence. This occurs because you're constantly thinking up bout your destination, what you will need, what will be provided for you, and what you can't go to or leave the destination without. Therefore, you're typically running back and forth at the last minute insuring you've packed your toothbrush, passport, contact solution, batteries, gum for the plane and everything else you deem important. When you consider flight security restrictions you must adhere to when at the airport, this may drive you crazy. Though it may be a bother getting everything together, traveling doesn't have to be such a hassle if you plan properly and follow these easy travel tips.

Packing may well be the most important part of your trip. You don't want to leave anything behind that you might need later, nor do you want to be stuck at the airport repacking and rearranging after a miserable trip through security. One of the sacred rules of airline travel today: you cannot bring liquids past the security checkpoint. This includes beverages, toothpaste, liquid deodorant, lotion, lip gloss, aerosols and much more. Many of us are so used to packing these items in our carry-on luggage we don't think twice about it and only after your bag passes through the x-ray machine and the security officer rifles through your bag and confiscates your Country Apple Bath and Body works lotion does the reality set in, and they're not giving it back!

To avoid the embarrassment and frustration, keep airline policies in mind when packing. You are allowed to carry on small clear zipper top bags of less than three ounces and absolutely no aerosols. Pack all other liquids into the bag you intend to check. To avoid this, it helps to learn their travel tips, which include packing larger bottles of liquids into the bag you're checking. Also your shoes: you must remove your shoes at every flight security checkpoint, therefore it's best not to wear shoes or boots that are difficult to remove. Otherwise you will slow the line down. Instead wear sneakers that are easy to remove. If you must change your shoes after the checkpoint then pack the pair you intend to wear in your carry-on bag. Security and your fellow officers will thank you.

Depending on the time of year when you're traveling, be sure to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. The boarding process typically begins 30 to 40 minutes before take off, leaving you with only an hour and a half to complete the rest of your check in, and there is plenty to do.

If you reserved your ticket online you may have to print out your ticket at the check-in station. Otherwise your first stop is the ticket line. While these kiosks are extremely convenient they do require that you know what you're doing. Remember to bring along both your record locator, usually a 13-digit number and your confirmation number as well your driver's license or other identification. Once you've found and printed or received your ticket you'll have to check your bag or bags at the ticket counter and show your ID. Only then are you ready to go through the security checkpoint.

The security checkpoint isn't as bad as it may seem. As previously stated, this is a fast moving process that that like any other procedure moves along smoothly if you know what you're doing. One tip to ensure this process goes smoothly would be to have your id and boarding pass close by. This shouldn't be a problem as you recently needed them to check in your luggage. The next step is to place your carry-on bag on the x-ray machine at the same time you pass through a metal detector. Prior to putting your items on the conveyer belt, you will have to take your shoes off, and remove zip-lock bag with three ounce liquids and any electronic devices larger than you hand and place them on the belt as well. After passing through the checkpoints and collecting your belongings, you're done. Only thing to do now is get on the plane.

It's a good idea to read travel tips from a variety of sources when vacationing to ensure tat when the time comes to travel that you don't panic about what you may or may not have forgotten. Your traveling will be a lot smoother the more well prepared you are.

Danube River Cruises: A Relaxing and Unique Break

By Samson Mandez

Danube river cruises are one of the best ways to see many inland countries that are usually inaccessible on ocean liners. The Danube River stretches over 2,000 miles and snakes through locations such as Germany, Croatia, Romania, Hungary and Yugoslavia. These types of western Europe cruises are a wonderful opportunity to see the cultures of these countries first hand.

Such river trips travel at a slower pace than ocean cruises and offer more in the way of sightseeing from the comfort of the boat. You can take the time to sit and relax, watching the ordinary villages going about their daily business. Trips like Danube river cruises use smaller vessels, usually carrying around 200 passengers, giving you the chance to get to know your fellow shipmates a whole lot better.

It is a myth that western Europe cruises lack comfort and style in comparison to the large ocean going boats. You will find everything you need and expect in the luxurious cabins and many have en-suite facilities or showers. Many of the boats have large balconies where you can enjoy the views close up. Other activities onboard include spas, steam rooms, fitness centers, cinemas and sports.

Along the waterways, the river boat stops at various unknown destinations to give passengers the opportunity to experience the cultures and traditions of the country they are in. Of course, they also stop at well known locations so you will not miss out on the chance to investigate renowned tourist attractions.

It is also possible to enjoy themed Danube river cruises; you could specifically go on a musically inspired trip or visit the colorful Christmas markets to do some shopping. Also on offer are themes cruises relating to golf, walking and children's activities.

Western Europe cruises are easily located by browsing the World Wide Web. Numerous cruise operators have their own websites where you will find more details about the trips and can book directly. Be sure to mention any additional requirements you may have including special diets and mobility access.

The duration of your trip can vary in length; there are no stipulations about how long you should take for your cruise. Many packages are available from cruise companies; you could choose a mini break which lasts three of four days or a longer break lasting 14 nights.

It is of no particular importance what kind of traveler you are when it comes to Danube river cruises. There is something to suit everyone and it is a great adventure from start to finish. You will have plenty of good times to remember on your way back home.

How to Decide On a Great Antarctica Cruise Ship

By Bill Perry

Plenty of decision making goes into planning for Antarctic travel. You want to pick a cruise ship that provides for all your needs on the trip. You will understand better which Antarctic cruises is the right fit after reading their advantages in this article.

Think first if you prefer traveling by small or large ship for the Antarctic cruise. You can plan on between 50 100 passengers on a small ship. Larger sea vessels generally accommodate from 200 to 3000 passengers. You have to evaluate what works and what does not about a particular Antarctic cruise ship.

Recreational activities aboard large vessels are comparable to those on land vacations. Lounge by the pool or play at casinos or do something else involving groups while cruising. The ship has doctors handy for your medical concerns as well as people to help with your nails and hair before formal banquets. Take into consideration that big vessel Antarctica cruises tend to be impersonal.

Big vessels rarely cruise and touch the banks. It is because of the large number of tourists they hold and the limits imposed by environmental laws. You have better odds of enjoying a cruise if sightseeing is not a priority for you. See if there are limits on shore travel by large cruise ships that are specified in certain regulations. Bear in mind that it is only a matter of time before liners have to set sail again.

A smaller ship gives you more time to explore because it drops anchor more often. They drop anchor near the shore so you can take time exploring wildlife and other areas. There are also fewer people to worry about.

The setting is more intimate aboard small sea vessels. This also helps in familiarizing yourself with the ship personnel and other passengers. You can scuba dive and climb mountains or ride kayaks or pursue other interests. There is no charge for visiting the small ship clinic and physician. Passengers are charged for this service on larger cruise lines.

Never forget safety. Ice ratings for small ships are usually higher. They avoid cuts and other damage from hidden icebergs by being built hard enough to withstand the ice. Make sure that the ship you will be travelling on is fully equipped with what it needs in case of an emergency. But this is seldom an issue because there are regulations ships have to follow.

There are lots of things you can pick up on board small ships. There are often historians and experts to help you learn everything you can about Antarctica and your overall experience. It is important to look for a company that specialized in Antarctica Cruises. You are sure to get more out of the experience this way. Knowing the differences between a large and small vessel will help you decide what is right for you. Traveling to this foreign place must leave you feeling happy and glad you booked the cruise.

Holidays To Cuba.

By Jose Mauricio Maurette

At this stage you are probably quite sure that Cuba is the place that you want to visit for your next holiday but maybe could do with some direction on how to make a booking . This might seem a little bit trivial but it is without doubt not the case if you are looking to organize a Cuban holiday.

The truth is that this Caribbean island is becoming ever more popular every year and this creates a problem for some travel organizers. Cuba is not a late booking destination, at least not if you are thinking of travelling in the so called high season.

The busiest seasons in Cuba falls within the months of July and August, the Easter period, Christmas and New year's eve . November, December, January, February and March are extremely well-liked months particularly for travellers from Europe looking for the Tropic to avoid few days of depressing weather.

Quite often I get customers asking me to sort out a package holiday for them in the above mentioned months , but sometimes the enquiry comes too late . This is frustrating, equally for the customer and myself . For one simple thing , I just can not recommend holiday worth it because all the popular resorts and best hotels are completely booked, and then I am left with the only honest response I can give. "I am really sorry but at this point there is nothing available that I feel comfortable recommending "

If you want to stay in big resorts then there is not much to be concerned about. The problem presents it self when customers are interested in combining areas like Havana, Viales Valley, Las Terrazas, Cienfuegos, Trinidad and or Santiago de Cuba. Areas like these with the exception of Havana are very limited when it comes to hotel availabilities.

If what you want is to organise a tailor made Cuba holiday in a high season my guidance to you is to call at least 4 months prior to departure in order to secure not only the rooms in your preferred hotels but also the best fares from the airlines . If you regrettably did not find this article before and are planning a last minute tailor made holiday , the likelihood is something will be found for you but surely the odds of getting the best hotels are not bright

If you are travelling in the low season months you could call even few days before your departure date . Even so we feel very confident to put together the kind of itinerary that will fulfil your holidays

I truly hope you have found this article a useful resource and wish you the very best when visiting Cuba .

With the development of the tourist industry over the last twenty or 30 years there are specific areas that have become the heart of traveler activity. These places have become very crowded particularly in the top holiday season, from Apr to Sept. Although the island is fairly small there's so much undiscovered country that you are now finding More Bali Hotels springing up in more isolated areas, not only in the interior of the island, but surrounding it. All around Bali are tiny little islands that are being developed to give travelers the opportunity of being able to stay on their own piece of paradise for the period of their holiday.

Staying on one of these isolated islands is great for honeymooners or travelers who just wish to enjoy a family vacation without the hustle and bustle of the bars, clubs and other nightlife that is very much a part of the popular holiday maker areas. To get to mainland Bali from the majority of these islands is only a short ferry trip.

The southern part of Bali is just about full of holiday maker resorts and as such the Balinese state has begun to develop the northern part that will give simpler access to the more mountainous areas of central Bali. Apart from the new hotels that are being built, construction is under way on a new airport.

Most are calling it the New Bali International Airport, but its official name is the Jembrana City International Airport. The completion date is going to be in 2012 and this airport will replace Ngurah Rai International as the new international arrival and exit point. This has become necessary as the area surrounding Ngurah Rai is absolutely developed and with the rise in the tourism industry Ngurah Rai won't be able to cope with the amount of air traffic in the future and there's no more room for growth in the area.

The existing hotels and resorts will shortly only be a small part of all the available places to stay. It seems like Bali is about to become a popular traveler destination for generations to come. There is no wonder the tourist industry is growing at such a rapid pace in Bali, the leisure facilities are out of this world. Bali packages for holidays, weddings, adventure are so varied that it would most likely take a life-time to explore them all. Although there is so much development going on, the Balinese state goes to great lengths to ensure that the beauty and fairy tale atmosphere is protected ; after all it is for the natural beauty that most people come to Bali for.

Holiday Suggestions Include Santa Clause Calls To Make Christmas Fun For Kids

By Ellie Evergreen

This Christmas you will want to add something extra to make the holiday special for your younger kids. Why not have them have a special encounter with Santa? If you are thinking you will have to don a red suit and cap and don?t relish the idea of doing so, don?t worry. There are services you can use that can give your kids proof Santa exists and actually dropped by the house! So what can you do to make this happen? Here are some great ideas to help you get started.

Leave evidence that someone came to your home and delivered the presents. This part is quite simple. Make sure the kids have some energetic and exciting activity to make them tired and fall asleep. Of course hide the presents so that it will seem that they magically appear in the morning. If you have a house with a chimney you make sooty boot prints coming from your chimney to make the kids think that Santa came from there. There is also the classic milk and cookies. Have your kids leave them out and when you are finished enjoying them, leave a note of thanks from Santa. Another great idea is to leave special items by their bed that they know was not there before. A great idea is to leave a sleigh bell by their window or under their pillow. You can tell your kids that Santa must have stopped by their room while they slept. These are just some the many suggestion you can personally use. Use your imagination to come up with even more.

If you live in a residence that doesn?t have a chimney, your kids may be a bit skeptical. A practical thing you can do is have special Item like a magic key. You can say that this how Santa gets in on Christmas. You can string the key with a festive ribbon and tie a note from Kris Kringle himself to it. Have it say something like it?s his special magic key and that he left it for good boys and girls to keep as a treasure. This will definitely amp up your kid?s excitement for Christmas.

Another great idea is a call from Santa. You can have a friend do it or use an online Service. Make sure whoever does is not able to be recognized by voice over the phone. Also make sure that they have all the children?s specifics. A good source of information is to your kids? letters to Santa. This will help whoever makes the call to make it authentic by being able to personalize the call and say things about them that only Santa Clause and family would know about them.

You can also do other traditional things like stocking stuffers. This is from the old tradition of people hanging their sock by the fire to dry. Have your kids pick out their own special customized stockings with their names on them. Then when they are asleep stuff them with toys, candy, and small favors. Your kids will be more than excited by the haul they will receive and it can rapidly become a family tradition.

In the end the Holiday is a special time that you spend with your children and other family and loved ones. Do the little things to make it special and unforgettable not only for family but for yourself.

How Much Longer Will You Be Able To Take A Holiday In The Maldives

By Sarah Brooke

The group of islands that form the Maldives number roughly 1200 and cover a region of about 800 kilometers in length in the Indian Ocean. They are renowned the world over for their outstanding natural beauty. Because most of them are only a couple of meters above sea level however, they are at great risk from sea level rise.

Even a small increase in sea levels, eg. half a metre would relinquish many of the islands back to the Indian Ocean, and make pretty much all of them virtually uninhabitable. Maldives islands such Bandos island, Baros island, Filitheyo island and Kuredu island which are popular destinations for thousands of visitors each years may be lost to the sea within a matter of decades.

Sea-level change isnt the only threat to these islands however, they are also under a real threat from an increase in sea temperatures. Increases in ocean water temperature can destroy coral reefs which are sensitive to change, and these play a large part in protecting islands such as the Maldives from waves.

Whilst global warming has tended to be a point of conjecture among environmentalists, the unprecedented event of the rapid melting of Arctic sea ice in 2007 has caused many environmentalists to agree that warming is not only inevitable, but is happening more rapidly than was originally suspected.

James Hansen, a leading climatologist, published a research paper in 2008 which demonstrated that the safe atmospheric limit for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was 350 parts per million, anything higher bringing about a negative envrionmental impacts. The level of CO2 is already at a concentration of 390 ppm and rising.

The Maldives are not the only country under immediate threat, countries like Bangladesh are already suffering flooding to the sea levels have risen in the last decade; forests across western North America and Europe are succumbing to non-native pests that are moving into these warmer areas.

The recent pledge of the G8 nations to take measures to try and counteract temperature increase to only 2 degrees and atmospheric concentration of Carbon Dioxide to 450 parts per million hasnt placated many environmentalists. The fact that we are already seeing the negative effects of warming is has alarmed many who claim the figures are now out of date.

Later this month, over 100 world leaders will meet at New York for the United Nations Climate Change Summit. On 24th October 2009, the Maldives will hold the largest underwater political demonstration in history with snorkelers and divers taking banners down to the coral reefs as a reminder to everyone of what is at stake. We cannot be really how long it will be but it seems inevitable that holidays to the Maldives may be over in the future.

Top Tips For Using Travel Agents On The Internet

By Harold Goldsmith

Are you looking for some inside information on business travel agents? Here's an up-to-date report from tour travel agent experts who should know.

The good part about checking out hotel websites is that you will get the lowest possible room rate which travel agents may not be able to match. They are a bit more personal than a travel agent and put a lot more effort in (we got fed up of our local travel agents). It's like organising all the bits of your holiday yourself, to get the best deals, but this way someone else does it all for you - saves loads of time and hassle.

Keep in mind that our current work at home society has enable tens of thousands of travel agents to literally work from their home. Don't underestimate these work at home people for they put just as much effort into satisfying their customers as does one with a store front shop. While making travel arrangements is probably something you do once in a while, it's a full-time occupation for travel agents. People think nothing of relying on a tax professional because they know their accountants and tax preparers keep abreast of tax laws. Have any of you, dear travel agents, received such letter cancelling your ticketing?

Knowledge can give you a real advantage when it comes to business travel agents. To make sure you're fully informed about tour travel agents, keep reading.

This is putting an end too 'travel agents' search for good travel leads. And individuals going back to Travel Agents are moving their focus from Price to Reliability as well. The downside is, for a fee, travel agents discuss the travel options travellers have already researched. This was the initial push to online booking?

The translated instrument was purified using an item-categorisation technique and administered to 337 current users of travel agents in the region. Expectations and performance (SERVPERF) scores indicated that respondents were concerned most with the efficiency and least with the personalisation of the services offered.

Anecdotally, travel agents in the UK reported a huge drop off in interest on foreign holidays in the two weeks after the massive reporting of the barbecue summer on the way. Amazing is the power of the media and a good headline. Special needs travel can also boost earnings for general travel agents who understand and service this niche because persons with special needs almost always travel with others, giving you access to exponentially increased bookings. How can you tap into this ready and waiting market? Travel agents can call cruise lines or visit websites.

Take time to consider the points about business travel agents presented above. What you learn may help you overcome your hesitation to take action when it comes to tour travel agents.

A Tourist Guide to York, England hotels and historic sights

By Karen Milner

The city of York, England is probably the most haunted city in Europe, of not the world. It was named the most haunted city in Europe by the Ghost Research Foundation International. Seriously though, a visit to the city of York is an amazing experience, with its fine gothic architecture, amazing medieval walls, and other fine attractions, there is a wealth of things to do, see and learn about this most historic city. In this article we will list some of our favourite attractions in the city and talk about some of its history.

York Minster is a fine Gothic cathedral and is one, of not thee, largest in Europe. The English Reformation introduced the first Anglican archbishop and caused the church to loose ownership of much of its land. Under queen Elizabeth I there was a concerted effort to remove all traces of the Roman Catholic Church from the cathedral, and during this period there was a great deal of looting of much of the cathedral's treasures, as well destruction of tombs, windows, and alters.

Here is our list of top attractions for York:

York Minster The Minster provides the seat for the Archbishop of York, the second-highest office held in the Church of England. In the 11th century there was a series of Benedictine archbishops, including Ealdred, who travelled to Westminster to crown king William in 1066. Ealdred died in 1069 and is buried in the minster where his tomb can be seen by visitors today.

The Shambles This street used to be where the butchers of York made their trade but today is full of little coffee shops and other little curious shops. It is probably the best preserved example of a medieval street in Britain, the second storeys of the fifteenth century houses that form each side of the street lean inwards so far that the roofs on either side are almost touching each other.

Clifford's Tower As one of England's most important cities, York was an important base for holding and administering the north of the country. Clifford's tower is one of two castles William the Conqueror built in the years immediately following his conquest. It is named after Roger de Clifford who was hung here after a Battle in 1322.

Jorvik Viking Museum The world famous JORVIK Viking Centre is a 'must-see' for visitors to the city and is one of the most popular visitor attractions in the UK, welcoming over 15 million visitors over the past 25 years. Travel back in time and experience the sights, sounds and smells of what was formerly a great Viking city.

The Guy Fawkes Inn is a York townhouse and is famous for being the birth place of Guy Fawkes. Guy Fawkes was born in 1570 and is famous in English history as ringleader of the 'Gunpowder Plot', the failed terrorist plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London, on 5th November 1605. This is the source of the British 'bonfire night' celebrations which take place on the 5th on November.

The Guy Fawkes Inn is located opposite York Minster providing you with the perfect base to explore York. All rooms are individual in character, ranging from comfortable twin or double rooms, to mahogany 4 poster bed rooms. The Guy Fawkes Inn's GastroPub provides an excellent menu and serves a variety of ales brewed specially for the inn, The 1605 Ale, The Conspirator, and of course the Guy Fawkes Ale.

Dominican Republic Wedding - Caribbean Style Wedding

By Jorge Macho

Once the province of the rich, cruises have changed and Caribbean cruises are fast becoming the most popular of destinations. A cruise liner holiday is a combination of amazing entertainment, wonderful activities and an opportunity to visit the idyllic islands of the Caribbean. Some people only take a short break and visit perhaps only a couple of islands as part of a larger vacation but most people are doing a tour of as many islands as they can with some lasting over two weeks.

Sailing is an excellent way to enjoy yourself and this includes a person who just wants to send all day on board enjoying the entertainment to someone who can't wait to explore all the new sights. Never worry that there will not be enough to keep you occupied as cruise liners are past masters at ensuring their travelers have everything they need.

Before making the trip, it is wise to find out more, so go to your nearest travel agent to find the right package, but you can also find comments and reviews online. Each Caribbean cruise will visit a certain number of islands on that particular voyage so you must decide if you want to visit certain islands like Jamaica, Bermuda, Bahamas or Antigua for example.

For those individuals and couples that enjoy parties and event filled vacations then choose a cruise vacation that perhaps is designed more for adults than families. Some Caribbean cruise liner companies actually produce virtual tours and other information on DVD's which can be collected from your travel agent or ordered online.

One important thing to remember is the type of clothes you pack for your trip as you will have the opportunity to wear all you normal holiday clothes plus those for dressing up in the evening. For formal evenings and events a gown is necessary for women and tuxedo for men so that you can be seen in your finest and something you need to be prepared for especially if you are invited to the Captains table.

There are also plenty of activities if you take your children along on a cruise vacation and they will probably burn off all their energy by the time the evening has ended. There will be probably more for your children to do than at a standard resort, in fact you probably won't see them much during the day.

Some Caribbean cruises are specifically for adults only, which ideal for couples, honeymooners and people that just want to have a child free vacation. Other cruise liner packages are available and have been created for special occasions like weddings, honeymoons and anniversaries.

The whole idea of a Caribbean cruise vacation is that you enjoy yourself and just let go for however long you are on board because it may be some time before you go again!

Perfect Girl Gifts - Christmas Dreams Live

By Edie Mindell

Little girls do love their dolls. They love to play and dress them and take them places, as if they really were their mommies.

I have a daughter that first began her love affair, with a certain doll, when she was only 18 months old. The relationship was a bit rocky at first as my little mommy pulled her baby's hair and competed with the doll for bottle and binky use. Yet as the weeks passed the love my baby had for her baby grew to complete devotion.

She fondly named the baby doll Bah-Bah-Toe (don't ask, I don't know) and they have been inseparable now for several years. The cementing moments of the relationship occurred when Bah-Bah-Toe was given her own dollhouse. At first this was a humble dwelling that consisted of nothing more than a few cardboard boxes stacked and taped together.

At Christmas time that year, when my daughter was 2, the idea of getting her a brand new doll was down right blasphemous. Bah-Bah-Toe reigns supreme. One evening as my husband and I observed our little mommy lovingly reciting a story to her precious baby and tenderly tucking her into one of those cardboard rooms it struck us: Bah-Bah-Toe needs a real house.

Finding the perfect dollhouse for our daughter and her baby was not too difficult but was a decision that required some care. There are so many options out there. The first thing to consider is size. In our case the house needed to be able to inhabit the doll we already had. For those who may still need to populate the new residence the size concern is moot. Yet size is still an issue. Tall dollhouses pose a tipping threat and a climbing temptation for little ones. The last thing you want is the dollhouse to become memorable because of your child's King Kong impression and the ensuing trip to the ER.

Dollhouses that are overly intricate, ornate or small similarly don't work for toddlers. Those gorgeous Victorian ones are great, but a toddler will destroy it before the sun sets on Christmas day. Those with fine detail and small furnishings also pose a choking hazard. What a toddler needs is a dollhouse that isn't too big, and isn't too small. There are several varieties on the market that your daughter will be thrilled to call her own.

Many dollhouses come with just that: the house. Other brands come with a load of extras including play figures, furniture and clothing for the dolls. Price and your existing collection of accessories is a great way to decide what you need for your daughter's Christmas wishes to come true. If you have many dolls already, then a house by itself is probably the way to go. For those just beginning their doll collections, a house that comes with extras will have a higher price tag up front, but when you factor in the cost of buying extra pieces separately, it might be the better deal.

Our little mommy has grown so much we hardly recognize the 2 year old who squealed with delight as she tucked a baby named Bah-Bah-Toe into her new house for the first time. Yet she still loves that doll, and her dollhouse where her doll baby lives.

What joy she has gotten from those toys and what a great investment they have been in the growing of her imagination.

Tips For Booking Your Dream Holiday On The Internet

By Walter Clifford

When most people think of cheap Turkey holidays, what comes to mind is usually basic information that's not particularly interesting or beneficial. But there's a lot more to cheap Cyprus holidays than just the basics.

Along the way you can admire some ancient castles, stunning woodlands or luxurious vineyards. River cruises in France are really a way to have the best of both worlds.

You will find that there are two main options when it comes to travelling the rivers and canals in France. Most agents offer either a break along the Seine River or a cruise along the Rhone and Saone rivers. Whichever option you choose, there are a multitude of attractions and stunning scenery to take in. It may even be possible to book a week on the Seine and then be transferred to a boat on the Rhone with some of the operators.

Many of the cruises can be tailored to certain themes. For example, you may enjoy cooking and some cruises have classes where you can brush up on your culinary skills. A family theme will have lots of activities on board for the children to enjoy and may have activities such as pony trekking and treasure hunts when the boat docks.

The accommodation is very comfortable and many of the cabins have balconies or French windows to allow its passengers to enjoy the passing landscape to the full. Some of the slightly larger boats have facilities such as hairdressers, saunas and gymnasiums for guests to use. All have exceptional dining rooms where you can enjoy some delicious French cuisine and savour some beautifully aromatic wines.

Most of the operators that specialize in a western Europe cruise can change the duration and itinerary of the cruises to suit your needs.

Finding and booking river cruises in France is a relatively simple process and can be done online in most cases. Be sure to read all of the terms and conditions before you confirm your booking. Some operators may charge supplements or additional charges for items such as laundry services.

When you decide to book a western Europe cruise it is quite common to have to provide particular details in order for the reservation to be accepted by the operator. Standard details needed include your insurance company details and the number of people who will be travelling on the cruise. It is at this time that you may wish to inform the operator of any special needs such as specific dietary requirements or mobility access.

In order to escape the trudge of a bog standard ocean cruise, it is worth checking out what river cruises in France have to offer you. It is a fantastic way to see places in the country that would otherwise have been missed and a chance to meet the real locals of France.

Arribada! Costa Rica's Incredible Olive Ridley Sea Turtle Invasion

By Victor C. Krumm

The young olive ridley sea turtle was only fifteen as she waited 500 yards offshore in the tropical warm eastern Pacific ocean off Ostional Beach in a small country that, about 500 years earlier, Christopher Columbus had discovered and named "Costa Rica", the "rich coast."

The afternoon December rains had slipped away as she waited expectantly. In its final quarter now, the moon was having an unseen effect upon her.

A few yards away, another olive ridley sea turtle joined her, then a third, followed by a dozen, then hundreds, thousands, now tens of thousands. For countless years the moon has silently passed its timeless phases that affect this planet---and that, for more than 100,000,000 years has drawn marine turtles back to their ancestral homes.

There is something mysterious about life. A few months earlier, this marine turtle and the hundreds of thousands now alongside her were scattered across the Pacific Ocean, some as far away as nearly 3,000 miles.

Though food was plentiful far out in the Pacific, something was stirring inside her. She and hundreds of thousands like her felt the same compulsion to return to Ostional Beach. They had to go back to where they had hatched.

Now, months later, she waited in the soft moonlight just a few hundred meters from her destination. She was ready. Over the thousands of miles she had traversed, she had come across several different male olive ridley sea turtles in the clear tropical waters and bred with them in the deep ocean. Like her, they too were being affected by something unseen, a primeval force. It was something so compelling that her race had been going back to the same Costa Rica beach since before the first dinosaur.

This olive ridley sea turtle had hatched in 1995 at the very small Ostional Beach. Only a few hundred meters long it is now part of Costa Rica's Ostional National Wildlife Refuge and probably the most important olive ridley nesting site on the planet. In fact, about half a million females had nested in massive "arribadas" , wave-after-wave of turtles, the year she had hatched.

For more than two decades, the mother of this olive ridley joined massive Costa Rica arribadas annually and she would have done so again except that she drowned in an illegal shrimping net just a few weeks before. Thousands more died by long line commercial fishermen. Even more died terribly by swallowing plastic bags carelessly discarded. So many have been killed, the race is endangered.

Of course, the tens of thousands of olive ridleys just offshore know none of this. As we look out over the water in the pale moonlight, there are now so many that it almost seems one could walk on their backs for at least a mile. We look in awe at the sheer magnitude of God's creation. They don't know or comprehend that they were on this planet long before the first Tyrannosaurus Rex. They don't know that we are waiting for them to come ashore so that when they lay their eggs on this tiny wildlife refuge, men, women, and children will lawfully raid their nests and take one million eggs in return for protecting the rest of the clutches and preserving the species. They only know that this is where they are meant to be.

Then, as quietly as they first appeared beyond the surf, as silently as they gathered, as patiently as they waited, they begin to come ashore. One turtle, a second, dozens, hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands---even more than that--lumber onto the beach and nest. All night, all day, day after day in a spectacular display of life. As timeless as the moon itself. Arribada.

Why Using A Travel Agent To Plan Your Trip Is A Smart Move

By Howard Dominick

Are you looking for some inside information on business travel agents? Here's an up-to-date report from tour travel agent experts who should know.

The good part about checking out hotel websites is that you will get the lowest possible room rate which travel agents may not be able to match. They are a bit more personal than a travel agent and put a lot more effort in (we got fed up of our local travel agents). It's like organizing all the bits of your holiday yourself, to get the best deals, but this way someone else does it all for you - saves loads of time and hassle.

Start paying travel agents again? Instead, they now will charge you an extra fee to sell you a ticket through their reservations number. The major online travel agents can influence airlines? Expedia and Travelocity, the two largest online agents, together booked more than $1.3 billion in travel during the fourth quarter of 2001, according to some speculators. But the good news is that one can easily access best travel agents.

Travel agents are not rip off artists, but it is part of their job to "mark it up". Travel agents do this by acting as a source of information for travel destinations, costs, and making all the travel arrangements. Many of them set rack rates that do not include travel agents commission. If a travel agent makes a booking then the travel agent has to add on his commission.

So now you know a little bit about business travel agents. Even if you don't know everything, you've done something worthwhile: you've expanded your knowledge on tour travel agents.

Not Only Paying for Food, but also Paying for Service

By Amy Nutt

More people are now making dining at a restaurant a part of their lifestyle. This trend has resulted in an abundance of restaurants. Food used to be the major factor for dining at a particular restaurant, but now customers are looking for more features. The quality of service is now another important factor people take into consideration when choosing a restaurant to dine.

The staff works on the front lines of the restaurant. They are the people customers deal with throughout the dining experience. Staff should be friendly, outgoing, have good listening skills, and hard working. The staff should reflect the restaurant ambience. Customers will return to a restaurant that has great staff.

When people walk into a restaurant, they want to see staff wearing clean, pressed, and professional uniforms. If it is a restaurant that seats the diners, they should be greeted by a warm and welcoming smile. They expect politeness and friendly conversation. As well, the staff won't be chewing gum or wearing off-putting accessories like a nose ring. Customers will assess the quality of service by how well the waitstaff attend to their needs. The servers should be able know the customers' wants without having to ask. This can include asking if they want a glass of wine or other beverage right after the customer sits down. As well, the server should ask if they would like to order an appetizer while they wait for their meals. It is important for the waitstaff to anticipate their diner's needs.

A customer should not have to look around for their server. The server should keep an eye on their customers and know when they need assistance. The customer should have their water, coffee or other beverages topped off without having to ask. The server will also politely ask, without interrupting diners' conversation, how they like the food.

The diner's food will arrive hot and in a reasonable amount of time after ordering. The utensils and plates, and glasses will be properly set. As well, each dish will have its own utensils. The waitstaff will be courteous and respectful throughout the meal. After diners have left, the waitstaff will make sure tables are cleared, cleaned, and reset quickly.

Servers will be trained in proper table service, and be knowledgeable about the menu, food, and wines. They will also know how the food is cooked and key ingredients in each dish. As well, they will know what the daily specials are. They will be prompt, attentive, and mannerly. The diner will feel as though they are pampered.

Servers should be respectful to diners who are not happy with their meal. They should politely return the food and accommodate the customer with a new dish or substitution. They should also be patient and respectful to a complaining customer.

The restaurant staff will have a major influence on a diner's experience. The staff must be there to assist the diner when needed, and be out of the way, but nearby, when not needed. How the staff treats a customer will affect if a diner returns to the restaurant. When dining at a restaurant, one will be paying for both the food and quality service.

Moving Day In Costa Rica

By Frank Scott

Conducting photo tours in Costa Rica can be quite an experience because I never know what my group and I will encounter. Here is an entertaining event that occurred while we were traveling to one of our locations.

One of the destinations for my group in Costa Rica Photo Tours is the beautiful, pristine Osa Peninsula along the southern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, a place that National Geographic says is "the most biologically diverse place" on the planet. In order to reach this location by vehicle we drive through the tiny village of Ojochal, which is very near my home.

Let me tell you about a unique way to move that some rural Costa Ricans still use. One day, when my photography group was passing through the village, we noticed a most unusual way of moving. But, to help you better appreciate what we saw, let me provide you with some background on the man who was moving.

When we first moved to Costa Rica our only neighbours were Ticos (as Costa Ricans call themselves) and Senor Wilson (isn't that Spanish or what?) brought us a house-warming gift of some flowering plants. It was quite humorous to see him standing at the top of our driveway holding some plants because, you see, he was too polite to come to our door without an invitation even though he was bearing a gift to welcome us.

After a sort of "conversation", he in Spanish and my wife and I mostly in English, I realized that he wanted to give us the plants. We were new in the community and this was a welcoming from the neighbours who live at least a hour walk up the mountain. Yep, walk. No car. Senor Wilson walked an hour just to deliver a gift. Now, that is neighborly!

Over time, neighbor Wilson has walked to my house many times with plants. Now, it often happens that when he gives me his gifts he stands there waiting for me to plant them. Of course, sometimes I may already be on another project and cannot very well stop what I am doing so the plants get put into the ground later but my good neighbor sometimes drops by to find out where and when I had planted them. I never imagined that when I moved from Canada to Costa Rica.

A couple of days after Senor Wilson gave me plants one time, he came to the house with still another plant and visited while his two boys swam in the river by the house. Of course, he asked me where I planted the others that he had brought the last time he came.

Oops! They were still in the pots on the terrace (these pots are certainly not decorative in any way as they are old aluminum kettles with drainage holes stabbed in the bottom of the pot with a machete). When Senor Wilson saw that his previous gifts were still in the pots, he decided he needed to plant the gifts he had given me since I apparently did not know how to do it. I hope you are getting an idea about what kind of fellow my neighbor is.

Back to moving day. As my photography tour group and I were driving a dusty Ojochal road, we saw a man walking his horse. It was Wilson. We stopped the van and I saw that the horse was carrying two huge white bags filled with what seemed to be clothes and household items. There was also a broom wedged between one of the bags with its blue bristle extending between the horse's ears. For the life of me, it looked as if the horse had a bristle blue tiara on! Poor horse, not very macho!

And there was Wilson standing by the horse with a bridle in one hand and a birdcage in the other. A horse, a crown, a man, and a birdcage. What a sight! Moving day.

I started the conversation as usual with "Hola, que tal?" "How are you?" And then I asked if he was moving (only kidding). But, sure enough, the horse was neighbor Wilson's version of a moving van. I believe it is called a grass-eating 4 X 4.

He explained that he and his wife (who is a tiny little thing that looks about 14) were going to house-sit one of the B&Bs whose owner went back to Germany for the rainy season. He also said that it would be easier for his wife and 3 kids to live there because it was closer to the pueblo as the B&B is almost in the pueblo where the children would go to school.

I thought that it was rather interesting that he was carrying the birdcage. I would have thought that on one of the previous trips down to their new digs one of the children would have wanted to carry the cage.

Carting flowering plants and birdcages is all in Wilson's job description. He told me and the group that the little bird was very young (parrot or parakeet, I don't know), that it just loved to talk and knew many words. As though he understood, the bird started showing off, chattering away while we are talking about it. I would tell you what it said but my command of bird Spanish remains very poor to this day. Sorry.

Everybody's cameras were clicking away because this was certainly something not seen every day. A moving van of a horse wearing a blue tiara, a chattering bird showing off for company, and a family of five walking down a mountain, worldly possessions in hand, on moving day in Costa Rica. My photo tours are filled with surprises even for me.

4 Lesser Known Cities You Cannot Miss When Traveling In Europe

By Morten Elm

In Europe there are 50 cities. So unless you have several months, you cannot visit all of them. Instead of trying to reach a lot of place, you should focus on only a few large places. Here you can read about 4 cities with interesting sights, superb food and/or great nightlife.

Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Are you looking for a city with a very liberal minded look at hashish and sex? Then Amsterdam is the place for you. In the so-called coffeeshops you can buy hash and around the corner in the Red Light District you find women in all nationalities and sizes.

But Amsterdam is much more than that. You can also see great art by Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Or visit the Anne Frank House " known from the Anne Frank's Diary.

Barcelona, Spain. The capital of Spain is Madrid " but the most interesting city is without doubt Barcelona. The city has everything: great food, interesting sights and a very fine nightlife. And then there is FC Barcelona " the famous football club with the amazing stadium Camp Nou.

If you only have time for one sight, it should be the unfinished cathedral Sagrada Famlia by Antoni Gaud. Or you can take a relaxing stroll down the La Rambla to Barceloneta, where you can find great seafood and tapas.

Budapest, Hungary. The capital of Hungary is divided in two parts by the famous Danube (know for the waltz by Johann Strauss). The hilly Buda-part is on the left side while the Pest-part is on the right. The best sights are either located on the Castle Hill in the Buda-part or in central Pest.

Two must see sights are the Royal Palace and the National Gallery. A great place for relaxing and wandering is the park on the Margaret Island, while the best shopping is found on the in Vci Street and in Westend City Center (Central Europes largest shopping centre).

Prague, the Czech Republic. If you need a cheap vacation, Prague could be the place to go. Even though the prices have gone up since the Cold War, you can still find cheap accommodation and eating in Prague.

In Prague there are also many great sights. You can start your visit by the amazing Astronomical Clock in the old part of the city (called Star Mesto). Then you can pass the Vltava River on the Charles Bridge (remember to look at the painters and souvenir sellers) to left side of Prague. On the hills you can visit the biggest ancient castle in the world, the Prague Castle. If you have more time, also visit the Kafka Museum, the Jewish Museum and the Josefov " the historical Jewish ghetto.

Werewolves

By Russ D. Edwards

Are werewolves real or are they just part of stories designed to stand our hair on end? Are they the'real deal' or simply the invention of the fertile imagination of horror story writers? I can let you decide.

It happened in Britain in 1591. The details are a little dodgy because the only remaining written account was taken from a 16-page pamphlet that was written about the events. Just two copies remain. Many records of the period were destroyed during wars that have been fought in the area over the centuries. But here's what we all know :

There were a rash of hideous deaths in the country round the German towns Cologne and Bedburg. The accounts are actually gruesome ( half-eaten human remains ). Some people cornered a huge wolf that was thought to be in charge of the deaths and set their dogs on it. They started to attack the wolf with sharp sticks and spears. The wolf failed to try to run away or to guard itself. It stood up on its hind legs, and the villagers recognized him as a middle aged man. He was Peter Stubbe from the same town.

Stubbe was put on the torture wheel. He finally admitted to having murdered, drank the blood of, and eaten 16 people, including two pregnant girls and thirteen kids. According to the flaky accounts of these events, Stubbe began to practice sorcery when he was 12. Ultimately he began to take the guise of a wolf. When he was in the form of a wolf, he would rip the throats of his victims and drink their blood and then eat their flesh.

Stubbe was tried, found guilty, and executed. The execution was a dire affair. His skin was pulled off with a red-hot pincer. His legs and arms were all broken and his head was cut off. What was left was burned to ashes.

Stubbe's brutality and savagery were cruel and his acts were easily associated with the behaviour of a wolf. People started to believe that such part-human/part-wolf creatures were living among them and they called them werewolves.

Five Exciting Ways to Keep The Bond between Children and Parents Healthy and Strong

By Jayde Johannsen

Sometimes, parents forget that parenting is a hands-on activity that requires fresh, new ideas and lots of persistence in order to reach a good final outcome-a child that grows up to be a healthy (both physically and emotionally) individual, ready to tackle life with lots of energy and conviction. Sometimes, parents let routine take over and ultimately along with it complacency creeps up on inter-family relationships, ruining the dynamic within the home.

As a way to keep this from taking place in one's home and family, parents must be innovative and able to come up with creative ideas. This obliges parents to come up with different and exciting ways to engage children instead of beating the same plan and routine to death.

To give parents out there a bit of help, here we've come up with a list of five fun ideas for keeping kids engaged and happy at home and outside it. Give these ideas a shot and watch your parent-child bonds grow and develop in a positive direction.

1) Get your children involved in cooking at home! Make cooking a fun activity, not a dreaded chore, which means that you should get your kids to help out and participate on a day/night when you have enough time to avoid rushing. Entice your children into helping by offering to put together their favorite dish, but also be sure to try out cooking new things they've never tasted before. This has been known to help open children's minds and pallets up a little bit, meaning you need to worry less about what to make. The process will give them knowledge of practical skills and will make them appreciate the effort of cooking daily meals for the whole family.

2) Organize game nights for the entire family, and make sure you only do so on days when you can commit to the fun and laughter-don't leave your kids hanging! Have your kids invite friends if they like to make it more enjoyable. In addition to classic board games, come up with new ideas and ask your children to put together a game of their own making. It'll challenge them to be creative and will make them feel appreciated.

3) Go out exploring as a family! Rather than lazing around the living room watching the tube all the time, get your kids into the outdoors. From a boat ride on some nearby body of water to a walk in the park or a bike ride to a new destination: any of these activities will do, and will teach your kids respect for the great outdoors. Teach them things along the way and impress them with some knowledge of your own--they're sure to respect you for it.

4) Come up with some DIY projects and opportunities for learning at home. There are a million different ways to go here: constructing an amateur radio; using lemons to power a fan or other electrical appliance; or simply buying a "young-scientist" style kit with a microscope and related accessories are all great ways to keep your children curious about the natural world and boost their understanding of it.

5) Coordinate with your kid's friends' parents to organize a group outing for them all, with you as the leader. The agenda can be something as simple as taking the group to the bowling alley or as complicated as going on a camping trip; whatever the case, the group of kids will look up to you and that will come off on your child, reinforcing the bonds you share in a wonderful way.

Five Essential Responsibilities for Parents within the Home

By Jayde Johannsen

There's not a parent out there that isn't aware of what a major task it is to keep a healthy and peaceful atmosphere in place at home, especially in homes with large families present. Nonetheless, this is also a tremendously rewarding task, one whose compensation is rich enough for most parents to exert themselves greatly in this regard.

Parents need to accept the fact that there is no such thing as an ideal home, and that frictions will arise from time to time even with the most placid and amenable children. This means that excessively high expectations will only set parents up for a fall; rather, through talking to child experts and family/friends with significant parenting experience, less experienced parents can get a better sense of what to expect in terms of home living with the family.

Hence, here we have come up with a list of five crucial parenting responsibilities that need to be carried out in the home to ensure that one's children grow up in a balanced environment and can have better chances at normal social development later in life.

1) The first responsibility that any and every parent should be thinking about at home is how to maintain a certain minimum level of discipline. Without discipline, fun moments will easy get out of hand and bad moments will seemingly be experienced as a living hell. Though different parents will disagree over issues of physical punishment, no parent can afford to find themselves without any disciplinary measures; so, always leave yourself a tool in this regard, something that allows the parent to secure compliance or, at the very least, is considered by the child as a serious punishment to be avoided.

2) Second, stimulating mental development is a fundamental responsibility that many parents forget all together about or only fulfill when it's too late, or simply leave in the hands of the teachers at school. There are many ways to stimulate children's minds: playing music, reading together, playing trivia or mind games. In fact, music itself has been proven in multiple studies to improve children's performance in several academic areas and open their minds up in a special way.

3) Just as the mind needs stimulation, so does the body; in this sense, sports and outdoor activities need to be very present in children's lives. A house with child inhabitants has to have some sports equipment lying around, and parents need to incentivate their children to stop watching the TV and get some exercise...all the time. Even if it's just a light session of catch between father and son, the activity will help develop bonds between the two and will enormously benefit the child.

4) A child's social life is important, and arranging for the occasional sleep over and activity among friends is an important thing to keep in mind. Kids need to be able to feel happy and comfortable in their own homes as well, so parents should ensure that children don't develop a habit of fleeing the home, something which can only have bad ramifications in the end.

5) Finally, parents should promote their children's sense of responsibility by assigning them certain chores throughout the home that need to be performed weekly, and that may have an allowance attached to them. This keeps kids engaged with their surroundings and will make for tidier, healthier people in the long run.

Motorhome Rental For The First Time

By Steve MacDonald

It was the summer of 2009 and I was living in The French Alps, Serre Chevalier in the Hautes Alpes to be exact. My eldest daughter was 5 years old and my newest baby girl, nearly 2 months. I had lived in the French Alps for about seven years and both my parents and my parents-in-law were all still very much alive and reasonably well, but not great travellers now that they had reached their mid 70s. As they all live in the UK, the only real option was to visit England so that they could meet their new granddaughter.

Of course their were other things we had to do such as an old friend of mine was celebrating his 'half century' birthday party, and there were my two brother-in-laws that my wife and I hadn't seen for over ages.

I thought long and hard about how to do all this: it was my plan to drive my car to the UK, but then what? This was the height of summer, which is prime time holiday season in England - places to stay would be either booked up or just simply too expensive. So I thought about camping in a tent, but only for a minute, before my wife pointed out that this very very impractical with a 2 month old baby. I had to come up with another plan...

I decided to hire a motorhome from Motorholme in the UK. The company had well over 400 motorhomes dotted around the UK and surprisingly enough still had some available for August even though I was making my enquiry at the end of July. I chose to hire a motorhome in Arborfield, a small village in Berkshire which was a fairly central location for our travels. I called a UK Freephone number, 0800 612 8719 to make the enquiry and I spoke to the very pleasent Sheena who helped me with my booking. I was surprised how easy it all was, a credit card number confirmed the booking and then there was a minimal amount of paperwork just to provide the 'legalities' for the insurance for the motorhome.

On arrival in the UK I decided to drop my family off at my brother-in-laws in London, I then went off to the motorhome hire pickup point in Reading where I met Anne who showed me around the motorhome, a 2004 Eldiss Autoquest 200. She showed me all the features that I would be using such as hot and cold running water, gas central heating. My only concern at this point was how I would fit my child car seats into the motorhome for when they are travelling along. Lap belts were provided in the rear but they weren't facing forwards, which meant I couldn't point my kids in the right direction. I decided to 'work something out later' as it was getting dark now. I left my car at the pick up point as agreed.

The drive back to Barnet was fine, I've driven some quite large vans in my time, so the size wasn't a problem and indeed the two litre diesel seemed to take it along the M4 at 70mph with no problem. When I got back home I realised there was a way I could thread the rear seat belts differently to at least give my baby the correct orientation.

The next day we packed up the motor home with all our things and set off for Paignton in Devon, where my 'little' brother-in-law lives. This was an easy stop as we just parked in his driveway and ran everything off the leisure battery and 'calor lite' gas. We stayed in Paignton, Devon a few days, which included 3 nights at Beverly Park. We had a day at Paignton Zoo and a day on the beach at Torquay, so all was good. Her we had a electric hook up, so we could use the electric kettle and toaster.

The next stage was my Mum an Dad in Stoke-on-Trent, not quite as fun as Devon, but 5 year old Maddy loved seeing her Grandma Jean and Grandad Gordon. The motorhome just about fitted in the driveway of their bungalow and we had to level it using the ramps provided. I had thought of hooking it up to the mains, but it seemed to be no problem to just use 12 volts and gas. Our trip was sadly coming to an end now, but we still managed to squeeze in my 'in-laws' in Leighton Buzzard, an annual reunion from my wife's friends in Muswell Hill, London and even the 50th birthday in Watford and a trip to see some old friends of ours from France who now live out in the sticks in Essex.

I was pleased with the Eldiss Autoquest motorhome and the overall motorhome hire experience, but next time I would probably look for one with a permanent double bed at the rear and some single beds nearer the front that would double as seating for the passengers. I will probably buy a motorhome one day, but I really do think I will hire a few first to get a feel of what is on offer by different manufacturers and which is perfect for my family and the way we will use it.

How To Choose Perfect Camping Sleeping Bags

By Luke Webber

I have to honestly say that heading out into the wild to go camping is what I love the most! All of my stress just left on the road on the way out is what it is all about. When I am out there though I want to be comfortable and to do this you need to be sure to have the right equipment for your trip. Starting with choosing the right camping sleeping bags. There are surprisingly many designs, choices and styles to consider.

First of your should carefully consider the temperatures you can expect to encounter. A temperature rating is assigned to most good camping sleeping bags. The rating is a what temperature range your sleeping bag will keep you warm down too, for example 30 degrees. You don't want to be overly hot or cold so be sure to choose a sleeping bag with the right rating for you. If you are not sure then choose the one that will keep you warmer than you expect that way you can always unzip it and let some cool air in. If you are too cold then there really is not much you can do and this can make sleeping very uncomfortable,

There is not much to say about zippers! Just be sure to get a camping sleeping bag with one built in, you would be crazy not too. They make your sleeping bag much more versatile and easy to adjust your temperature at night if you are too hot. On those really hot nights you can unzip it completely and lay on it!

Camping sleeping bags are designed for many different purposes. There are light sleeping bags, double sleeping bags, kids sleeping bags, mummy sleeping bags and many more.

Light sleeping bags are great if you plan on doing a lot of hiking with your camping gear. Nothing will ruin your hiking adventures more than having to carry a heavy pack. Having a light sleeping bag does not mean you will freeze on cold nights. Light sleeping bags can still be very insulating. They may be a little more expensive but well worth the extra bucks for the lighter load.

Double sleeping bags are great to add a bit of spark to your camping trip. You can snuggle up with your partner and keep extra toasty with the double body heat. You may also just love a lot of space and therefore want a double sleeping bag to spread out in.

If you really want your kids to love their camping trips then don't think twice about it just get them sleeping bags with cartoons on them! You won't have to tell them to go to bed they will be in those sleeping bags in a snap!

You thought that a sleeping bag was just a sleeping bag right? Wrong! There is a lot to consider when choosing the ones that are right for you and your family. You need to think about the material as well. If you are after one for colder climates the filling will generally be down or a synthetic alternative. New materials are being made all of the time which are more light weight while retaining insulating properties. So synthetic does not necessarily mean poor quality. One measure of a good camping sleeping bag is it's fill rating. The higher the rating the better quality. It is determined by the amount of fill per square inch. Take care in choosing your camping sleeping bags and happy camping!

Enjoy Your Holyhead Cruise Experience, Cruising UK Waters

By David Phillips

A Holyhead cruise visit is becoming ever more popular with major cruise lines which offer cruising holidays around the waters of the UK and Ireland. Holyhead on Anglesey is a major UK passenger ferry port to Ireland and has excellent port facilities for large cruise ships looking to offer their passengers exciting and interesting places to visit.

As the longest sea wall in Britain, Holyhead Breakwater offers cruise ships great shelter from the open sea. Cruise liners anchor in a sheltered spot with plenty of draught just behind the breakwater and Anglesey Aluminium jetty in the outer harbour. Meanwhile, if required the local boatyard can provide tug cover for the cruise liner.

This location is ideal for cruise liners over 250 metres in length as the prevailing winds are from the south west, and it is in the lee of the town and harbour. By ships tender it is less than a mile from this anchorage to the Fish Dock landing on the east side of the inner harbour, where coaches can take guests to the various attractions across the island and further afield.

On your journey north up the Bristol Channel and past Milford Haven in South West Wales you can take in the amazingly beautiful panoramas of the Cambrian coast. After passing Bardsey island and Lleyn peninsula you reach Anglesey, with its long sweeping sandy beaches from Llanddwyn, where Demi Moore shot some of her movie Half Light, to Trearddur Bay with its sailing flotillas. Just north of here on Holy Island is the famous South Stack lighthouse, outside Holyhead.

Ferries sail to Dublin, the Irish capital, and to Dun Laoghaire from Holyhead. In fact the port of Holyhead now welcomes some of the top cruise ships in Northern Europe. Cruise lines such as Holland America, Noble Caledonia, Oceana Cruises and Hapag Lloyd will increase their visits, drawn no doubt by the variety of historical and natural attractions for their passengers. Holyhead has already hosted a cruise ship carrying 750 passengers, the 48,000 tonne Seven Seas Voyager.

With a view to attract more cruise liners to Holyhead, there are plans to use the Anglesey Aluminium pier as a suitable docking facility for ever larger cruise ships which would normally sail only to Dublin and Liverpool. The island aims to be able to facilitate vessels of around 85,000 tonnes and so using this jetty would be a great boost. Estimates suggest that around 7 million of investment may be needed to Holyhead port facilities, of which up to 500,000 would go to upgrading this berthing facility.

When we consider that there are as many as 70 cruise liners operating in Northern European waters, it is clear that with the extra investment in port infrastructure going forward, a Holyhead cruise destination will become a growing possibility for many keen cruise passengers. An initiative called Celtic Wave led by Anglesey which brings together key ports in Wales and Ireland, namely Holyhead, Swansea, Milford Haven, Cork, Waterford and Dublin, and backed by 1.2 million aims to attract more cruise line visitors to the Irish Sea ports.

You may wish to visit the historic castles of Wales at Beaumaris and Caernarfon, which are designated UN World Heritage sites. Alternatively, you may want to visit the last working mill in Wales at Llynnon, Llanddeusant or walk some of the Anglesey coastal path or visit the National Trust house and gardens at Plas Newydd. Whatever option you choose, you can be sure that more cruise liners will be looking to make the Holyhead cruise destination over the coming years.

Friendly Belize

By Deb Corbeil

Belize City. Most people picture run down buildings, crime and remnants of hurricane damage. Very few take anytime to actually explore the town instead choosing to hop on a water taxi and head out to Ambergris Caye.

If you take the time to actually walk around the town and explore it a little, you will find that it is a fun place to be with friendly and welcoming people. Travel books advise people to skip Belize City if you can, but after all it is the countries largest urban hub, and by avoiding it you will miss a large part of what Belize is all about.

Belize City is actually a port on many cruise liners itinerary. However, most passengers either spend their time shopping in the terminal or hop on a tour to explore other parts of the country. Where the cruising crowd doesn't exactly have the time to explore the area, a traveler should definitely take a walk to get a feel for the Caribbean City.

Belize has an eclectic mix of architecture. In the 16th century it was settled by the English and the buildings reflect that era. There is your typical colonial architecture, you will see churches and modern buildings are starting to crop up. There is a wide variety in Language as well. The official language is English, but if you listen to conversations, people speak with a mix of Creole. They also speak Spanish, Mayan and German.

After soaking up the culture and cuisine in the country's largest city, catch a water taxi to head out to Caye Caulker. For $10, you will be transported to paradise. Far less crowded than its overdeveloped neighbor Ambergris Caye, this little island is a gem of a destination.

The relaxed Caye Caulker is a popular place for the backpacker crowd. Far less touristy and quieter than Ambergris Caye, it feels as if you are relaxing in Jamaica. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the island keeping noise and pollution to a minimum. You will see the odd golf cart or you can rent a bike to check things out. Rooms are cheaper and you won't find any enormous resorts desecrating the land.

While there, you have to take in the sites and the number one excursion is to hire a guide and boat to take you out to Shark Ray Alley. Located 1 mile from shore is the Belize Barrier Reef. A protected marine preserve for since 1996, it has a healthy stock of marine life and coral. The highlight of the trip however is having the chance to swim with a group of nurse sharks and manta rays that inhabit the reef.

Many divers in the world travel to Belize for one reason only, and that is to dive the famous Blue Hole. Jaques Cousteau introduced it to the world and it is an awesome site. A collapsed cave in the middle of the sea attracts divers that want to go deep. Drop down to 150 feet and dive under overhangs as hammerhead and reef sharks swim in the chummed waters above. This dive is not for new divers.

If getting into the water with natural predators isn't your cup of tea, take a sailing trip to visit other Islands. Belize has several islands and you can take a trip to have a picnic lunch on the beach or enjoy an island drink at an upscale resort on Ambergris Caye. You can find a company to go with by simply walking down the main sandy street where operations line the path.

After your day exploring, you will be needing some great food and drinks and Caye Caulker has its fair share of restaurants. From fresh catches of the day to Italian or Jamaican Jerk, you will find something to satisfy your pallette. After dinner, head down to the beach and enjoy a cocktail as you listen to a band and find yourself content to just be.

Belize is certainly full of many more sights. It boasts rainforest's and islands, and the largest cave system in Central America. It is teeming with wildlife from Howler Monkeys to Jaguars. Like its surrounding neighbors, it has Mayan Ruins scattered throughout the country for you to enjoy and beautiful beaches can be found everywhere, the best being in Placencia on the mainland.

Belize is not a country that most people think of when they decide to take off to a warm Caribbean destination, but it is growing in popularity every year. Book your trip soon to experience this untouched paradise. It won't be long until the rest of the world follows and it will never be the same.

How To Grab A Last Minute Family Holiday Bargain

By Jeff Windham

When most people think of cheap family holidays, what comes to mind is usually basic information that's not particularly interesting or beneficial. But there's a lot more to cheap last minute holidays than just the basics.

Culture-rich, family-friendly Turkey is rapidly becoming Britain's number one summer holiday destination of 2009. Generally, package holidays consist of a flight to your destination, accommodations once there, and transfers to and from the airport or train station. But, there are many types of package holidays available, where more can be included, such as food and drinks, ground transportation, equipment rental, and guides. The classic summer holiday destination, you'll always find great deals on cheap beach holidays in Spain. It's worth remembering that you can still eat out cheaper here than in the UK, with the added bonus of guaranteed sunshine and beachfront restaurants.

Magaluf is a very popular holiday resort in the island of Majorca, Spain. It is one of the most popular holiday resorts in the whole of the Mediterranean and is extremely famous for its vibrant nightlife and its great parties. This is undoubtedly because of the massive strengthening of the Euro that occurred several months ago, which made the traditional favourites of Spain and France even more expensive places to holiday. Thus Turkey, with its great climate, fantastic beaches, low living costs and less expensive currency became even more appealing.

The information about cheap family holidays presented here will do one of two things: either it will reinforce what you know about cheap last minute holidays or it will teach you something new. Both are good outcomes.

Well, if you have visited this website yet, then make sure that you are missing one of the best online services that would help you to enjoy your summer.

In addition, in more recent years, visitors are coming across other unknown activities, predominately in the central and also northern parts of Morocco for example in the Rif and High Atlas Mountains. Here it is becoming increasingly popular to experience a skiing holiday! A picturesque view of the Nakauvadra Mountain Range and the full lush growth is offered, including sugar cane. Fijian natives legend says that these mountains are home of the snake god Degei, the creator of all the islands. The beautiful sceneries, the mountains and the castles are all looking breathtakingly beautiful. And all that is available at much cheaper rates.

From many European destinations you don't even need to enter the UK's country code as it is applied automatically by the network. However, an even cheaper option for calls to Spain is using voice calling over the internet. Today you can choose for your next vacation one of the many beautiful destinations in the Caribbean or Mexico, take a vacation to Europe, Australia, Asia or any other exotic destination at low prices.

The day will come when you can use something you read on cheap last minute holidays here to have a beneficial impact. Then you'll be glad you took the time to learn more about cheap family holidays.

Get A Lot Out Of Your Budget Car Rental

By Jonathan Wills

Traveler's use budget car rental places when they don't have their own car and don't want to be tied down to using taxis all the time. The market is tight right now so renting something budget could land you with a really rickety car.

Many of these businesses really want to match the right person with the right car but others just want to take your money so you need to look out for yourself as you maneuver your way through this travel experience. Let's look at some tips you can use to get your way through this.

1. If you're not choosy with a budget car rental, try to get a budget car rental through sites that let you rent cars at your own price. These firms will try to get the best deal for the car that you'll get and might just toss in unlimited mileage and upgrades, all of that without spending an extra dime out of budget.

2. Try and find some fly, hotel and airline packages where you'll pay a single fee and get a discount on the car. It's not recommended that you go through the airlines for such packages because you'll actually pay a bit more for what looks like a package deal.

3. Make use of internet resources in order to book a vehicle. There are, in fact, better deals to be had on the internet than you'll find in person or over the phone. Upgrades are easier to get and there are some rental companies that provide seasonal deals for those who sign up on the internet. Besides, nothing is more convenient than booking a budget car in the comfort of your living room.

4. Ask for discounts that can be applicable to you, remember even when you've scored the best deal, there is still that one last ditch of a possibility that one of your credit cards support the company and provide discounts or that your frequent flyer program or military service can put that budget in budget car rental, its a long shot but it's worth a try.

5. Most budget car rentals are low on maintenance so when you rent a car, check all sides for damage, and I mean every side and every nook and cranny of that car, make sure to inform the renter of these so that you won't have to pay for damages once you return the car. In addition, try to check out all the accessories, wipers, radio, brakes, seat belts etc, to familiarize yourself with them, and also to check if they work, like the previous tip, you might be charged for this if you don't inform them.

6. Now we pass the subject of insurance, sometimes your own car insurance covers car rentals, so have a look see before you buy insurance from the rental firm. Budget car rental insurance doesn't cost much, but if you already have one why buy another? Car rental insurance is always required when you rent a car.

7. You can actually save money if you check out with the agency early in the morning. This is because the previous days cars haven't been returned yet so you are more likely to get a free upgrade to a bigger car.

Gay Tourism Guide, The Cenote Travel Experience

By Ricardo d Argence

If you are trying to find intriguing destinations for gay travel, there is no shortage of interesting locations to choose from. If you enjoy the beach and water, the rich coasts of Mexico provide a number of incredible travel opportunities.

But, there is more than just the ocean if you're looking for water fun in Mexico. Many visitors enjoy the interesting and unique experience of a Yucatan Cenote vacation.

A Cenote is a natural sinkhole that exists within an underground network of caves and rivers. They exist in the range of 60 feet beneath the surface and are carved out of a subterranean, cavernous natural world.

Cenotes were formed over the course of several thousands of years as a result of caverns and caves collapsing. This created sinkholes that captured water runoff. This yielded a tremendous opportunity for the ancient Mayans to acquire a source of water in areas where topical waterways were dry or limited.

These Cenotes were also used for ancient rituals and were once considered the gateway to the spiritual afterlife. As a result, they were properly maintained which enabled them to survive well into the modern era.

Now, some may look at words such as underground and subterranean and think Cenotes embody dark, foreboding environments that would hardly present a fun vacation destination. Actually, it is the exact opposite that is true.

These Cenote vacation spots are a lot of fun and have much to offer travelers. Additionally, literally thousands of them exist and the Yucatan Cenotes and Caves are the most appealing and unique destinations for even the most discriminating traveler.

There are many reasons to visit a Cenote in Yucatan. The crystalline waters themselves are quite enjoyable as they are among the most beautiful and clear waters in all of Mexico.

The waters are placid and free of currents, providing for a wonderful, relaxing experience. Average water temperature is 75 degrees, providing a pleasant environment to take a soak. These conditions are almost unheard of in surface lakes and waters, making a trip to a Cenote an incredibly unique vacation spot.

Before you head off to a Yucatan Cenote, a little research is in order. Remember that there are many Cenotes in the region, and you'll want to choose the right destination for your vacation needs.

Make sure to prepare yourself ahead of time for the visit, since you'll descend down spiraling walkways to get to the Cenote. Some of these walkways are centuries old, and the rock formations commonly seen in the caves are millennia old. Take the time to savor these historical sights as you head toward your destination.

It may be a good idea to join a guided group tour as part of your Cenote experience. This will make your experience that much more fun, captivating, and memorable.

Maldives holidays are probably the most relaxing and romantic

By James Harvey

The Maldives coral island atolls are located in the tropics, are influenced by monsoons but enjoy a lovely sunny climate and are warm all year round.

The Maldives islands accomodate some of the most diverse and amazing marine life in the world, with thousands of reefs made up of over 200 different types of coral, and as many different species of marine life you can see.

The diving at resorts such as Filitheyo offer excellent diving for all levels of ability. The Filitheyo island resort has a marine channel adjacent to each side of the island and several shallow thilas inside the atoll that cater for new and inexperienced divers.

One of the most striking things about visiting many Maldive island resorts are the breath-taking beaches which often offer unbroken walks around the whole island. Another bonus of course is that you can often walk these beaches without seeing another sole.

The natural beauty and tranquil charm of most Maldivian island resorts cannot be over-stated. You will find quiet private accommodation and private beach areas shaded by ubiquitous tall palms and other plants.

Many resorts, such as Filitheyo have water villas or water bungalows and these are generally the most expensive but most luxurious accomodation and the snorkeling is always just a few steps away. At Filitheyo, the villas are very nice and comfortable but are open on each side to their neighbors so visitors who want more privacy may be better suited in either a superior or deluxe room. Some guests will arrange to split their holiday between different room types to vary the experience, check with your agent to see if this is possible before booking your trip.

If you are planning on getting married during your holiday to the Maldives then many resorts offer special wedding plans that can be arranged in advance. At Bandos for example, the resort accomodates visitors getting married with the "Kuda Bandos Sunset Wedding" which features a taste of traditional island ceremony with cultural costumes, Maldivian drums and a private cruise for the newlyweds on a Dhoni (Maldivian boat).

Backpacker Travel Insurance

By Roc Selly

If you and your family are taking off for any length of time on a journey, family holiday or business, it should not be a question of whether or not to buy insurance but rather who to get your insurance from. Cheap backpacker travel insurance is excellent for backpackers, students on gap year travel and any young person looking for affordable travel insurance when taking long trips. For the young traveller, becoming a backpacker is the first true experience of having to organise every aspect of their life and while this can be daunting, it is also very rewarding.

You are under no obligation to buy your backpacker travel insurance from your travel agent even though you may feel you need to but ignore the pressure as, in fact, you would be better off sourcing your insurance from an independent travel insurance provider.

While it's easy to see why so many backpackers simply opt for the cheapest backpacker travel insurance available, make sure that when you're offered a cheap backpacker travel insurance quote, you examine the small print. You may find that your seemingly cheap backpacker travel insurance fails to give you enough cover for the activities or destinations you're expecting to be part of your backpacking adventure.

Your backpacker travel insurance policy should always include cover for medical attention, personal possessions, equipment breakage, personal liability, travel delays and legal charges. Not all countries have a free health system and the cost of medical treatment can be incredibly high, unless you've got the protection of good backpacker travel insurance. If you fall ill, backpacker travel insurance can cover your financial losses for added peace of mind.

You may want to add cover while you are abroad if you decide to do different activities or acquire new possessions. You may need to access/update your backpacker travel insurance policy online so remember to purchase online backpacker travel insurance if you're going to benefit from having a policy accessible via the internet.

A standard backpacker travel insurance policy is likely to include some sort of limitation on the travel period and although backpacker travel insurance is likely to be longer than that of a standard policy, you should be aware of any limitations held within your backpacker travel insurance before you leave. The Backpacker travel insurance policy has basic cover levels but still gives you the freedom to enjoy your experience abroad without any fear of financial crisis.

If you plan on working whilst backpacking, check that your chosen backpacker travel insurance policy covers you for holiday work and that it provides cover for vulnerable baggage, personal possessions and funds.

What Is There To See In Cuba

By Jose Mauricio Maurette

Are you considering your next holidays in Cuba? If so you are in for an unforgettable experience. Cuba's charm is comparable to no other destination in the Caribbean, for not to mention its history and impressive architecture patrimony.

Cuba is the largest of the Antilles and offers a wide variety of holidays. If you are looking for just relaxation on a beach resort or get to know the island by joining an escorted tour Cuba certainly does not lack options

Guardalavaca in the eastern part of Cuba should be considered as number one option for those looking for just relaxation on a beach resort. It is not too commercialized as perhaps other beach locations in Cuba and it is definitely one of the best places for snorkeling in Cuba.

Interested in Nature? Well then you have to explore the mountains, valleys and rivers of Cuba. Pinar del Rio area, Escambray Mountain and Sierra Maestra are the richest in terms of natural attributes.

Trinidad de Cuba one of the most beautiful cities in Cuba was declared World Heritage Site in 1986 by UNESCO. Today Trinidad still looks the same it was 300 years ago. Trinidad also has the best beaches in the Caribbean side of Cuba so if you want to blend a bit of culture and relaxation then Trinidad is definitely the place to go.

Havana has to be my favourite place. Not only was I born in Havana and know it quite well, I can say with confidence that I have walked every corner of this amazing City. You have to visit Havana if you really want to feel you have been to Cuba. I particularly recommend the Old Town area to stay and the night clubs of Vedado neighborhood.

You can combine as many places as your time and budget allows. Bear in mind that traveling around the island will increase the cost of your holidays since you will have to afford the transportation which is mainly by taxis and in some cases you could spend up to 6 hours on the road.

Some think that Cuba might change in the next couple of years. I personally have been hearing this same thing for the past 20 years and Cuba still remains the same defiant and beautiful country. However it is important to highlight that in the past few years the expectation of a change has increased. My advice is not to leave your visit for too late or you might miss have a century of history and culture.

PPC Advertising for Maximum Web Promotion.

By Brian V Shortt

Engaging in pay-per-click (PPC) advertising has its own remuneration and drawbacks. But what exactly is PPC advertising and what it can do to your business?

Business at the present time is doing several kinds of austerity measures when it comes to advertising their products and services. This is because of high rates of placing ads on print and on television. But there is a fast growing approach that businessmen can utilize to bring their services closer to the people and that is through Internet Marketing.

One tool that is causing internet marketing popularity is PPC advertising. This is a practice used in search engine marketing that requires one to pay a fee every time someone clicks an ad on your website. Generally this placement is done through a bidding process. If you are a top bidder for your keywords/phrases, you are sure to be on the number one spot on all search engines. Just be sure of the effectiveness of your ad copy to get the most number of clicks you need for your business.

Here are the benefits of PPC advertising are:

1. You need not be a genius in computer and technology to be able to run this advertisement campaign. 2. Immediate results are seen as soon as a few days. 3. No need to produce a website conform to the SEO rules. 4. Nothing to lose even if you do not top the pages of different search engines. You can still always choose PPC advertising. 5. You can make use any search engine available. 6. You can type in any keyword you like.

Cons of PPC advertising includes:

1. Fixed payments each month to the search engine you choose. 2. Pay for each click received by your website. At times, visitors are just competitors or people playing high jinks on search engines. This hassle wastes money you put in to this advertising. 3.Lack of ability to pay for the fees next month would mean removal of your website on the paid listings. 4. This advertising can only be used for the interim because it is difficult to handle in the long run. 5. Pay-per-click pricing can be costly for long periods of time, therefore, this should be stopped following an ad campaign.

But how exactly PPC advertising can increase traffic, leads and sales?

PRE-QUALIFIED TRAFFIC. All visitors of your website are already considered as a qualified consumer or buyer of your merchandise. PPC advertising leads your customers to you for a lesser cost.

Immediate EXPOSURE, IMMEDIATE PROFITS. PPC search engines enable you to obtain your desired results fast. They will have your website live in just a few hours which means immediate increase in sale.

Regular TOP LISTINGS. This is to get your website on top of the sponsored search results for free. You just have to choose the keywords related to your site and business and place them within your web pages. After this, you are done.

PPC advertising enables advertisers to control their advertising campaigns. Advertisers have effectively targeted their audience and set their own price per click. PPC advertising networks provide the platform to identify the desired audience by geographic setting, subject and industry. These networks have a list of websites of the publishers anywhere the ads will be placed.

Tools are provided by the networks to check how the pay per click limit is working for a particular advertiser. If its still competitive, would it be even listed amongst the paid search lists or does it generate sales? Of course, if the advertiser made the highest offer, the better chances the ad will be seen in the search engine. These networks too provide protection for the advertisers against click fraud. This advertising set-up allows advertisers to set a daily budget for his ads, therefore, less spending for unnecessary clicks. Advertiser will never go over his budget.

In PPC advertising, what is important are the keywords and phrases. You have to select at least ten "very specific" keywords that would give you the best traffic in the search. Then, create the ad creatively but straightforward. Tell the truth about your product or service and do not lie. Good thing if your product or service will not disappoint those that are relying on your ad's promise - but what if it did otherwise? Important too is the clarity of the ad. Do not use very vague languages. Include important details like the price.

You should also remember to budget your bids. Do not go overbidding since you will only lose your money and do not go so low that your ads will never get the chance to show up. Check your profit opposed to your spending. If you see no progress then most likely you have to drop your ad campaign.

More and more advertisers have been using PPC advertising and it will continue to grow faster than any online advertising techniques. From revenues of $2.6 billion in 2004 to $5.5 billion in 2009, cost per click will dramatically go up as well from $0.29 to $0.36.

PPC advertising is new in online marketing and it is going to continue in the years to come. For advertisers, this means strengthen revenues with fewer advertising expenses, savings, more sales, good return of investment (ROI) and successful ad campaigns in the days to come.

Incredible New York

By Clive Adams

For first time visitors as well as for frequent and seasoned travelers, the city is dazzling. You have seen its many attractions in countless Hollywood movies and yet the reality is both more astounding and more chaotic.

It is a city in motion, whether it's day or night. No other city in the world exudes such energy and vibe. Just like the bright lights of Times Square, New York's incredible spirit remains undiminished by the attacks on the twin towers.

Whether you are an art, history or music buff, or whether you like clubbing and dining, the city has it all. From grand museums, theatres and galleries, to an array of eating places and parks, there's plenty to see, do and experience.

A must-see attraction on your holiday is the iconic statue of Liberty on Ellis Island. The Empire State Building, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park and Rockefeller Center are just few of the many attractions the city has to offer. You can spend hours or months in its vast museums and still not manage to see it all.

Of the five boroughs that make up New York, Manhattan has the most to offer. Its many retail stores, theatres, restaurants, pubs, bars and stadiums, plus the city's most important sights, should be the focus of your visit.

Many people prefer exploring New York, especially Manhattan, on foot. Sample street food, indulge in some serious people watching or relax on a quiet bench in Central Park. Alternatively, live the high life and catch a star-studded play on Broadway and dine at one of the city's A-list restaurants. New York can fit every budget but it is what you do here that will shape your impression of this fantastic city.

Every season offers something special and that's why tourists come to New York even during its hot and humid summers and cold and windy winters. There's always something going on in the city and you will never have to worry about things to do. In fact your only dilemma may be figuring out how best to fit in everything in during your holiday.

After you visit New York once, you will be back again and again...

Advantages Of Using Holiday Reviews When Travelling To Lanzarote

By Jim Bowen

Most of the people know about Canary Islands. However, names of the islands that constitute these islands are not known by a lot of people. Lanzarote is one of those less-known islands. It is the fourth largest island which is located at the eastern most part of Canary Islands. Since they don't know much about this island, people prefer to read holiday reviews about this island and gather as much information as possible before planning to choose it as their holiday destination.

Main industry for Lanzarote is tourism and millions of tourists come to this resort every year in their holidays. Its diversity of landscape makes people a bit apprehensive, and they want to make sure that they are choosing the right place for holiday before deciding to go there. Reason for the diversity of Lanzarote is its volcanic origin; it also contains the largest submerged water tunnel. It has a 16.3 km beach, out of which 213 km is coastline, 10 km is sandy and rest is all rocky.

Lanzarote has a lot of hotels, leisure activities and excursions for every age group, that includes many water sports like sailing, swimming, wind surfing and snorkelling. These are the most popular water based activities for tourists, and make tourism a main industry for Lanzarote.

For golf lovers, there are golf courses, and for those who love other outdoor activities there are hiking, cycling, rock climbing and horse riding. Like any other tourist resort, there is a plenty of shopping that you can do from here. Everything that you need during your holidays is available here, and other than that, gifts and mementos to take back as a reminder of your holidays.

Lanzarote is quite popular amongst other tourists' resorts for having large number of leisure activities; one can enjoy going to the restaurants, bars, places for eating out and night clubs. In Lanzarote tourists find every facility to make their holiday a memorable one.

Since very few people know about this holiday resort most of the people want to read about Lanzarote before planning to choose it as their holiday destination; they get apprehensive when they are advised to go to Lanzarote. Since they usually have no previous knowledge about this holiday resort, they make every effort to make sure it's worth spending their holiday time at Lanzarote, for which purpose they mostly go for holiday reviews available in the market or over the internet.

Everyone wants to have an exciting holiday and no matter what happens, they don't want to take any risks in this regard. Holiday is the time to relax and no one wants to waste their money and this precious time by making a wrong decision. Lanzarote is no doubt a Spanish autonomy but not Spain. That's the reason people get apprehensive about it. People feel confident when planning to go to a familiar place like Mediterranean, Caribbean Islands etc, which are well known amongst tourists, but when it comes to unknown places like Lanzarote, people think twice before deciding to opt for it.

Lanzarote is really amazing in terms of having a surprise factor for tourists and holiday makers. It possesses a haunting attraction for being a volcanic island. This resort is very well-managed and fully equipped with all the luxurious facilities for tourists. This resort is not very well advertised by the newspapers and media and that's one of the reasons why people find it a bit risky to choose Lanzarote as their holiday place. In order to minimize this risk, they read holiday reviews about this place, written by the common people or experts who have been to this place already.

Hot Spots to Visit in Mexico: Acapulco, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta

By Ricardo d Argence

Now that the spring season is in full swing and the sizzling summer sun is right around the corner, you are probably anxious to start planning your next vacation getaway.

One of the up and coming gay destinations that will surely be excited to discover yourself is Puerto Vallarta. What makes this place special? For starters, the place is awesome. With the wonderful climate, an alluring ocean bay, a lush topical jungle, with excellent beaches and mountains; a weekend getaway for two could not get better than this.

Puerto Vallarta itself is not large, but be careful not to judge it on its size alone. Even though the city is small, it is a delightful city that is devoted to serving its visitors. This little city is somehow able to retain the old school Mexican charm that it is famous for in the midst of a modern resort infrastructure.

Cancun is the home of an abundance of charming restaurants, modern medical facilities, excellent airports and a safe water supply. It is also a very safe environment which makes this spot a perfect paradise. If you are a person that is looking for quaintness but will not sacrifice the modern conveniences, then your search is over.

If these things havent gotten your attention about Puerto Vallarta, then you may want to take a look at Acapulco. When you visit Acapulco you will enjoy clean waters, sunny beaches and rugged mountains. Acapulco is a major stop for cruise ships, a well known spring break destination and the perfect hot spot for gay singles or gay couples.

Opposite to Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco is famous for its flamboyant gay bars and clubs. Its gay bars may not be that refined or upscale as most big city clubs, but that is what makes Acapulco a unique experience.

And the last, but certainly not the least, gay destination on the list is Cancun. I think nothing beats Cancun with regards to being the most popular gay destination ever. The place is the haven for tourists, especially the gay crowd.

The main attraction to Cancun is definitely the nightlife. The funky and upbeat gay clubs like the Picante bar and the Karamba will definitely light up the nights in Cancun.

The Picante bar is the oldest gay bar in Cancun, while the Karamba is the biggest gay disco. You will have a blast partying under the tropical night sky in the open air disco at Karamba to the sounds of both international as well as local DJs. You will enjoy the nightly stage performances that feature drag queens lip synching Broadway show tunes as well as impersonators that dance to the hottest sounds. The party starts promptly at 10:30 p.m. and will likely last to the wee hours.

Picante is a hot spot that has been cooking for 14 years. When you go to Picante you will see their Vegas showgirl style strippers, dancers, singers as well as the bar owner and emcee Mother Picante. If youre really lucky you might be able to catch the once a year beauty pageant that takes place during Carnival and be able to witness the crowning of The Queen.

You will never go hungry while visiting Cancun. This hot spot is teeming with fine restaurants that serve both local and international cuisine.

If this isnt enough to convince you that your gay vacation will be unforgettable, you will love the gay friendly resorts. One of the best places to stay is the lavish Hyatt Cancun Caribe. Other top hotels include the Presidente Intercontinental, the Melia Cancun or the Villas Boutique Hotel. Whatever you are looking for you will find that these resorts are perfect.

Get ready to pack your bags and grab your ticket to a tropical paradise. Whether you choose, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta or Cancun you will definitely have a perfectly gay time. Bon Voyage!

Holiday Reviews For Travellers Interested In Visiting Portugal

By Jim Bowen

Whenever we plan a holiday, no matter what our destination is, we want to have the best time when we get there. With increasing trends of taking a proactive approach to everything instead of a reactive approach, tourists would rather find out what to expect from their holiday well in advance. This is where holiday reviews come in.

People most likely consider using holiday reviews while they are planning their trip to Portugal. Portugal is a country which comes with a prosperous history of old culture. Many tourists have recently started to make Portugal as their holiday destination due to its rich history.

This magnificent country has a lot of things to offer for every kind of tourists; the beautiful countryside which is still pure as it was back in the old days, eye catching sandy beaches, amazing scenery and people who welcome you with open arms. There are a lot of mouth-watering cuisines available, mainly it is seafood but it's not hard to find the right meal for you.

This country had been unnoticed as a tourist spot until recently. It's quite common now for people to use holiday reviews in making their choice for a travel destination. Holiday reviews give a good detailed outline for a specific location the tourist is planning to travel to. The details in these reviews enable the tourists to plan their budget and to foresee what could be expected.

Holiday reviews give many ideas and suggestions from the people who have already been there and have experienced the place. It also indicates towards the finest places to visit in Portugal and the best practices to commence. Cost comparison option is also available, so you can evaluate and choose the right option for yourself.

Having all the knowledge beforehand also makes a tourist more comfortable when he/she is actually in the area. For example, if they have gone through reviews that compared costs, they will have a fair idea of what to expect. Hence, they can plan on how much to carry, and avoid the risk of being overcharged as innocent tourists often are.

Reviews give you a better option to judge the conditions and the surroundings of a place. You always have an option to choose the hotel that you like and avoid the ones which have a bad reputation and do not qualify on the reviews. It will be easier for you to judge the hospitality and housekeeping options for every hotel on the reviews. You always have a choice to see the hotel that puts you in the comfort zone and you can book it for yourself once you are there.

Therefore, reviews help tourists to make the right choices during their holiday. They would know exactly where to visit in Portugal, which food to try, and the ones to stay away from, which beaches are the type they would like to visit and what atmosphere the area offers. As being particularly Portugal, reviews are even more valuable because the tourist path has not yet been that well beaten as some other locations like Hawaii, Barbados, Paris and so on, the places that people already well-known by the tourists or visitors.

Your Tourist Guide to the Historic City of York, England and York Hotels

By Karen Milner

The city of York, England is probably the most haunted city in Europe, of not the world. It was named the most haunted city in Europe by the Ghost Research Foundation International. Seriously though, a visit to the city of York is an amazing experience, with its fine gothic architecture, amazing medieval walls, and other fine attractions, there is a wealth of things to do, see and learn about this most historic city. In this article we will list some of our favourite attractions in the city and talk about some of its history.

The Minster, one of the finest and largest examples of Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe is also one of the oldest. The first church on the site was of wooden construction and was built in 627 to provide a place of baptism for Edwin, King of Northumbria. The minster has an amazing history - for example, the church was damaged in 1069 and repaired by the first Norman archbishop in 1070. Danish invaders destroyed much of the church in 1075, but it was rebuilt again around 1080, in the Norman style, the church now measuring 365 feet long.

Here is our list of top attractions for York:

York Minster We know a little about this gothic building already but did you know that it even has its own police force? Thats right, after an arson attack in 1829 these guardians of the cathedral were instated to protect it. The history of the minster spans over 1400 years and is the focal point of any visit to the city.

The Shambles This street is literally a place where you really do feel you have stepped back in time. The upper storeys of the fifteenth century houses marking each side of this street lean so far in that the roofs on either side almost almost touching each other across the street and in places you can shake hands with someone in the house opposite. If you walk down this street, you will also notice the raised pavements either side of the main cobbled road which form the channel through which the butchers who used to ply their trade here would wash away the offal and blood.

Clifford's Tower As one of England's most important cities, York was an important base for holding and administering the north of the country. Clifford's tower is one of two castles William the Conqueror built in the years immediately following his conquest. It is named after Roger de Clifford who was hung here after a Battle in 1322.

Jorvik Viking Museum This museum has welcomed 15 million visitors over the past 25 years. You can journey through the reconstruction of Viking-Age streets, as they would have been in the year AD975 when the viking invaders had control of the city.

Guy Fawkes Inn is in a perfect location for exploring the city of York, located right opposite York Minster. All the rooms in this character townhouse are individual in character, ranging from comfortable twin or double rooms. The restaurant provides a good menu, and make sure you try one of the ales brewed specially for the inn, including beers such as The Conspirator, and the Guy Fawkes Ale.

Christmas Tree Trimming And All Those Lights

By Roger Calfsman

There are plenty of family traditions around Xmas time. One of the most fun and heart warming ones is decorating the tree together as a family. Some families have special Xmas tree lights and decorations that have been passed down from generation to generation. Others have a convention of giving each member of the family a new ornament every year.

Still, other families make their own Christmas tree ornaments. There's no wrong or right way to add pizazz to a Xmas tree, just as long as the end result is something to be proud of!

Shine On

The number of Christmas tree lights used when decorating the Christmas tree varies from family to family. Some like lots of lights on their tree, while others prefer less. As a rule of thumb, the general public use 100 lights per foot of tree. For instance, if the tree is 7 feet tall, then you may wish to put about 700 Xmas tree lights on the tree. Give or take fifty lights depending on what you like best.

Another dilemma for Xmas tree decorators is the color of lights. This is again, a matter of private preference. Some people like the classy look of plain white Christmas tree lights, while others like the colored or multi coloured lights. Personal preference and family tradition should play a role in this choice.

While for a very long time Christmas tree lights came only in the inch long egg formed bulb, there are now a spread of shapes and sizes. Mini lights are currently available, as are lights shapes like snowmen, stars, and Santa Claus. Bubble lights, which are small lights encased in a base, are also popular. These lights are placed above a tube of coloured liquid, and when the lights are turned on a bubbly effect occurs.

New And Technologically Improved

New technology has made Christmas tree lights even better than they were before! Now, LED lights are available to consumers. These use far less energy and are more environmentally friendly.

Another option made available by technology is lights with special effects, flashing lights, twinkling lights, fade in fade out lights, and patterns. Tiny computer chips and special bulbs make lights like these possible .

Simply Splendid

The lights that you put on the Christmas tree might not seem like a critical call, but it can seriously change the appearance of the tree and define new and old customs for the entire family.

Take a Trip to the White Desert of Egypt

By Deb Corbeil

The Pyramids of Giza, The Luxor Temple, Abu Simbel and the Valley of the Kings, all of these attractions are at the top of everyone's must see list in Egypt, but very few manage to find the time to hop in a 4X4 jeep and discover the remote destination of The White Desert. For one thing a trip to the center of the country must be far too expensive, time consuming and difficult to plan.

You can book your trip from any guest house downtown Cairo. Hotels probably book it too,but it will be far more expensive for the exact same experience. It costs $80 per person for a 2 night 3 day excursion including all of your meals, travel and accommodations. Activities like camping in the desert under stars like a true Bedouin and a 4X4 jeep ride in the sand dunes are included in the deal as well.

It is only a 5-hour bus trip from Cairo to Bahariya. You will be met by your organizer who will pick you up letting you relax and ignore the touts that wait at the station. It is not off to the desert yet, time to go back to your hotel where you will eat some lunch before the long journey ahead.

Make sure to fill up on the delicious rice and potato meal with pita followed by delicious sweet desert, it will be a while until you eat again. Don't take to long though, because it is time to be whisked away to explore the incredible scenery of the Black and White Desert.

It may sound a bit touristy, but you will be offered to buy a scarf before you leave. It is highly recommended that you buy one as they make a great souvenir, but because they are also very practical to keep the sand out of your eyes and to keep the heat in your head at night. The temperature drops greatly in the desert.

Hopping into the back of a 4X4 jeep, gives a real sense of adventure. Bumping along the road in the intense heat surrounded by sand makes you fell as though you are in an Indiana Jones Movie. It is not long until you enter The Black Desert, a nice prelude to the forthcoming White Desert. Climbing a high peak you will overlook an amazing desert vista. Black pebbles caused by erosion blowing in from the mountains cover the entire land, turning it to an ominous dark shade.

Making sure to keep with the feeling that you are truly traveling off of the beaten path, you will pass through a couple of security check points with armed guards and road blocks. The thrill is worth it because the instant you are allowed through check point number two, the terrain instantly turns to a white landscape that looked as if a blanket of snow has just fallen on the ground.

Words can not do justice to the giant white formations that stand magestically in the middle of this barren land. You will be camping right in the middle of pure chalky white sand structures shaped as mushrooms, birds, and camels. It feels as if you are standing on another planet. Formed by mother nature through erosion, these chalk rocks are solid enough to walk upon.

As you explore the land, true Bedouins set up your camp. It feels as if you have stepped back in time as they set up colorful thick blankets to be used as walls. The front of the camp is left open to the fire and the three walls remain roofless leaving you a view of the clear desert sky.

The night is cold out in the desert and morning cannot come too soon. Working through your aching bones take a walk and see this incredible sight one last time before moving on to your next excursion. It's time for a crazy 4X4 into the dunes where you will really get your fill of thrills. It all winds down at the hot springs and you can soothe your aching muscles from your time in the desert. Feeling better you are ready to hike up to the high plateau to watch the sun fall over your magical desert adventure.

It may not be the most popular trip on an Egyptian itinerary, but it is certainly the most thrilling and spectacular, giving unique memories that will rival any adventure that you will experience in your life.

Dental Implants: A Bit Of Risk Involved

By Ian Kleine

Understanding the risk of dental implants is the same as understanding the benefits it gives. Of course, with every medical operation, there will always be a certain risk involved. There are no sure-fire ways, no tricks, no shortcuts and such. If one is to undergo a challenge, then one must face and understand the risks involved. Dental implants may be a minor operation, but they carry the weight of having risks as well.

Dental implants have a certain requirement for patients. They should have the proper structure and integrity of a healthy human being. That said, the quality of a healthy human being is one that has a healthy supply of dense, thick, strong bones. Especially in the jaw area. Without the required bone mass (especially if you're brittle), you'd need to consider other options aside from dental implants. Of course, shortage is not an issue with bone mass. Bone grafting is used to adjust the amount of bone to support the implant that is to be installed in to your tooth. This process is called bone augmentation and is vital for several cases in dental implants.

Consideration and meticulous description of the usual routine of the patient should be provided as this will allow the doctor to prescribe a proper post-operative SOP for you to follow. The operation does not end in the chair, it goes past into the post-operative period. If you suffer from Bruxism, or from involuntary teeth clenching, you should have your doctor take a look at that habit. Clenching is a bad thing to happen while you're allowing the implant to set in. This often leads to irreversible damage to the implant, improper formation and fractures. Often, your jaw will also be affected, leading to bone loss, support formation collapse or loosening and resorption of the implant.

Dentists invest enough attention and information for each individual patient. The metal type, implant length, the dimensions of the implant, thread pattern, the smoothness of the implant, the material and the SOP to be used. Whether you can use a commercial implant or if you are in the need for personalization. Your bone quality, mass and density are also gauged and the attending dentist has to correlate with the periodontist, orthodontist, endodontist, surgeons, radiologists and even colleagues to share their data. It's a very tedious process really!

Failures in dental implants lead to incorrect osseointegration. This happens when the implant is mobile, gets absorbed or if the bone does not hold into the implant (often filled with the mucosa). Peri-implantitis is the inflammation of the bone around the implant and often leads to pain and subsequent degradation and loss of bone mass. Smokers are at a higher risk of failure if they do not stop smoking during the prescribed time. Post operation checkups per month are recommended so your doctor can be up-to-date on the condition of the implant.

Things To Bring On A Cruise

By Amy Nutt

Going on a cruise is a very exciting time. A cruise is filled with fun recreational activities, great dining, a wide variety of quality entertainment, and much more. Because going a cruise means being on the water far away from the stores on land, there are a number of essential items that one should bring.

1. Clothing: When selecting the clothing you will take, you have to consider what ports you will be visiting. Warm climates will require light clothing, shorts, bathing suits...etc. If you are going to colder climates such as Alaska, bring warm clothing, coats, gloves, hats...etc. If you will be attending formal dinners, make sure you bring the appropriate attire that fits the occasion.

2. Health Items: When going on a cruise, there will be a variety of different foods and beverages that may result in an upset stomach. You also may get sea sick, headaches, or minor scrapes. One should bring a medical kit that includes an antacid, aspirin, band-aids, and antibiotic ointment.

3. Useful Items: A few items that you may require include: hair dryer, alarm clock, books for late night reading, sunscreen, sunglasses, flashlight with batteries, and a note pad and pen to make notes about what activities you want to take part in. You will also want to bring binoculars to look out over the ocean and perhaps see dolphins, whales, exotic birds...etc. Don't forget prescription glasses and your contact lenses and spares. Walkie-Talkies are great a method of keeping in contact with one another on the ship.

4. Cameras: If you want to have a keepsake from your cruise, bring a camera or video camera. You can even purchase underwater cameras for swimming when you are in a port.

5. Electronics: When bringing an MP3 player, compact CD player, laptop, or PDA, make sure you have batteries. As well, don't forget your cell phone and charger.

6. Important Documents: Necessary documents that you will need include: passport, I.D., cruise tickets, maps, guide books, and traveler's checks. You can also bring language translator if you are gong into a country where English is rarely spoken.

7. Medical: it is important to make sure you bring any identification that indicates that you have a medical condition (medical bracelet.) As well, bring any important medications that you require on a daily basis. Keep a list of medications with you in case of an emergency. Tell the cruise medical staff if you have a condition that they should be aware of such as epilepsy. Also, if you are allergic to foods or medications, make sure you inform the medical staff. Bring a list of emergency phone numbers.

8. Traveler's Bag: Assemble a travel carry bag with all of the important items that you should keep with you at all times. (Travelers checks, walletetc.) Watch out for people who pick pocket by keeping your items secure when you are on the ship and out in the ports.

The best method of ensuring that you bring all the essentials on the cruise is to make a list. This will make packing much easier, and when you are heading out to sea on your luxurious vacation cruise, you will be relaxed knowing you have everything you need.

The Rise of the Luxury Hotel Industry

By Amy Nutt

The history of the rise of the luxury hotel industry is a fascinating story. With the start of the industrial revolution, in the 1760s, hotels began to be built across Europe and the United States. Later, holiday resorts began to pop up along the French and Italian Riviera. In Boston, The Tremont House was the first deluxe hotel in a city centre. It provided "inside toilets, locks on the doors, and an a la carte menu."

The Holt Hotel in New York City was the first to provide its guests with a lift for their luggage. In 1822, in Venice, Giuseppe Dal Niel transformed an old palace into a hotel and gave it the name, "Le Danieli." In the spring of 1834, L'Htel des Bergues was built on the shore of Lake Geneva. In New York, the New York Hotel was the first hotel to be equipped with private bathrooms.

In 1970, construction of hotels began to increase in order to accommodate the traveling business person. Hotel chains started to offer a wide range of services and their rooms became more spacious and luxurious, as well as offering fine dining.

The next development in the hotel industry began in 1980 and was highlighted by more creative marketing. As well, hotels began to adapt to a wealthier clientele. During this time, airport hotels, hotels for conferences, health hotels, ski holiday hotels, holiday villages and marina hotels began to emerge across the country.

In 1984, work began on a hotel of the prominent sultans' residence, the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul. Managed by the Kempinski chain, it opened its 322 rooms to guests in 1991. The resulting hotel defined luxury and elegance. Also during this period, Far East countries such as China and Japan began to develop luxury hotel accommodations for wealthy tourists and business people. International chains were also expanding across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia targeting the wealthy.

In 1997, the Hotel Adlon in Berlin was renovated to be much like its luxurious heritage in 1907 before it was destroyed in 1945. The hotel's 337 rooms and suites are the definition of luxury. The interior, designed by England's Ezra Attia and Sweden's Lars Malmquist, consists of marble, sandstone, stained glass, gold leaf, cherry wood paneling, and damask draperies.

In 1995, construction began in Dubai on one of the most grand and celebrated tourist developments in the region, the Jumeirah Beach Hotels. It is now one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. It is famous for its luxurious bedrooms, service, modern technology, as well as the impeccable exquisiteness of the surroundings. As they state, "they offer a five-star lifestyle destination thats dedicated to delighting the senses of every guest."

In 2004, the new Emirates Palace Hotel (CPH), in Abu Dhabi, was developed to offer the most exceptional services and luxury accommodations. As they state, "The Palace boasts 302 Grand rooms and 92 magnificent suites each combining the ultimate in luxury with state of the art technology."

The luxury hotels industry has evolved to the point where all involved in the design, building, and management, are catering to the tastes, preferences, and desires of their guests. They continue to follow new styles and adapt to meet changing trends.

Got a spare few days off work? What do you do, do you stay at home or do you join thousands of other people who regularly benefit from the cheap flights available with the low cost airlines and enjoy a hotel break

Airports that were under used or considered unpopular now have flights arriving from all over Europe. These previously unpopular or uneconomical airports have now expanded on the back of the boom in low cost airlines and their network of flights around Europe.

The choice of destinations is now larger than they have ever been and you can jet off cheaply by booking a bargain flight then getting some accommodation online and jetting off for the weekend.

Travelling overseas by air does have its disadvantages which is more apparent if you do not have much time. Not all of the flights available have suitable flight times for a weekend break. If your flight leaves in the early afternoon the chances are that the return flight will be late morning or around noon depending on the duration of the flight. This could mean by the time you arrive at your hotel it could be early evening already. If your return flight is around noon by the time you get to the airport you might only have time for breakfast in the hotel before you leave for the airport.

Worried about the weather or like the idea of telling everyone you jetted off to a city in Europe somewhere. It does sound impressive to some people unless they do the same as you all the time. Don't overlook the advantages of a UK short break.

You can get lots of flights within the UK and Ireland to some really interesting locations and with a greater number of flights you can leave at an earlier time and return on a later flight giving you more time away and not in the airport.

There is a fantastic choice of quality destinations in the UK and Ireland that can offer it's own unique experience for the visitor. Some of the destinations include Edinburgh, Dublin, London, Cardiff, Belfast, Manchester and many more.

You could maximize your time at your destination and spend less time hanging about for flights at the airport and queuing up to get through a massive queue at the security check. You do not have to take the plane you could drive or even book a rail break package and travel by train. There are some interesting hotel breaks you could take including a murder mystery weekend or a spa break.

Dental Implant Complications

By Ian Kleine

To understand the benefits that dental implants can give you, it is just the same as trying to understand the complications and risk involved in it. There are no guarantees, no 100% chance of success; risks and gambling will always be there in a corner rearing its ugly head. If one wishes a chance to improve, then one must risk for that sake. Dental implants are a good example of this.

Careful consideration should be given to your habits as well, if we should declare a good chance for the reconstruction to work. The operation does not stop in the dentists chair, it still goes on after you carry on with your normal routine. When you are the type of person to place so much force in your tooth, the dentist should be immediately notified. Bruxers (or those suffering from bruxism, or teeth clenching) should notify their condition first hand. Clenching has a big impact on new implants and sometimes this would lead to the ultimate failure of the implant, leading to fracture, bone anchor loss or resorption and malformation of the implant.

Common failures include incorrect osseointegration. This results in the implant getting absorbed, is mobile (moving) or if the bone does not grow into the implant. Peri-implantitis can also happen, an inflammation of the bone around the implant, which would cause pain and subsequent bone loss and the implant as well. Smokers are at a high risk of failing if they do not stop smoking during the recovery period. Post operation checkups are required to insure that the implant stays safe and stays strong.

Great Places for Gay Vacations, Playa Delfines

By Ricardo d Argence

If you really think about it, I think Mexico is the best and the most famous destination for gay vacationers. And a big reason why Mexico is the undoubtedly best destination for gay travelers is Cancun. And a big reason why it's Cancun, is because of the beaches. Why the beaches? Two words: Playa Delfines, Why so? Well, let this little gay travel guide article tell you exactly why.

It is Cancun because of the special warmth it welcomes the gay and lesbian crowd. They have really retained that atmosphere with its friendly and liberal populace. Add to that are the excellent public transportation and its grandiose all-inclusive resorts.

Cancun has an exciting nightlife that includes gay bars like the Picante Bar and the Karamba Bar. The Karamba bar is known as the largest gay disco and the Picante is the oldest in Cancun.

Cancun offers a wide range of wonderful restaurants for dining. Several that are highly recommended are Labna, Perico, La Parilla and La Pasteleteria-Creperia. Every night is a party night at Perico, while Labna offers a delicious taste of the more traditional cuisine. The delicious crepes that are served in the intimate downtown caf known as La Pasteleteria-Creperia are enough to make your mouth water.

When a non-believer of Cancun cuisine dines at La Parilla they will leave as a fervent devotee of the cuisine. It will not be long before you are hooked on the delectable Cancun cuisine and its earthy and pleasant ambiance.

With the abundance of lavishly beautiful hotels popping up everywhere you can be assured of excellent accommodations in Cancun. You can make reservations at the Ritz Carlton, Melia Cancun, Hyatt Cancun Caribe or the Villas Tacul Boutique Hotel and be assured of resting in a heavenly abode. If you are having a hard time pronouncing any of these names, you have nothing to worry about. You will be well taken care of while staying in Cancun.

The taxi drivers know most places by name and have a wealth of knowledge about the ins and outs of Cancun. You will have no worries about reaching your hotel safely, thanks to the friendly people of Cancun.

Cancun is rich in history too. You may enjoy a visit to the nearby Mayan ruins at Yamil Luum or Ruinas del Ray that are located in the Zone Hotelera. Even though the ruins are spectacular, nothing will beat the Cancun beaches. The beautiful white sand beaches of the Yucatan coast are unbelievable and must be seen to be appreciated.

One of their great swimming beaches is the Playa Chac Mool. It's a great place for families during the day but come night time, the rocky areas become a bit wild. Then there is Playa Langosta. This beach has got calm waves and ideal for families and party people. It's a good choice to have you skin tanned or just swimming in its gentle waters. But with all that, I think nothing beats Playa Delfines.

Playa Delfines is popular for single and gay couples, in fact it is known as the unofficial gay beach in Cancun. Just look for that grassy slope down to the beach and you'll understand what I am saying. Not just that it is a great place for sunning, surfing, and everything in between. Plus, this is one place where the sun is not the only thing that is burning hot.

You're sure to find a lot of hotties to preoccupy you for the rest of your stay here. Now, if you are interested (and I know you are), Playa Delfines is located at the southern end of the Hotel Zone, just south of the Hilton. It's an easy place to find.

So hope this article has become a little gay travel guide for you. Catch some sun, sand, and sultry hotties at Cancun, Playa Delfines. Have a happy trip!

Penang Malaysia

By Mandy Gillard

Situated on the north-western coast of the Malay Peninsula at the entrance to the Straits of Malacca, Penang Island covers an area of 292 sq km (112 sq mi). The island is separated from mainland Malaysia by a channel of sea varying between 3 km (1.9 mi) and 13 km (8 mi) wide, and they are linked by the 13.5 km (8.4 mi) Penang Bridge, one of the longest bridges in the world.

The island has the oldest British settlement in Malaysia, which was founded by Captain Francis Light in 1786 while he was searching for a docking place for ships of the East India Company. Captain Light made a treaty with the Sultan of Kedah who gave him permission to colonize the sparsely populated island.

Penang today is a fine mixture of old and new: bustling, industrial port meets historic Old Town. In the capital, Georgetown, modem skyscrapers tower above one of the largest collections of pre-war buildings in south-east Asia. Colourful produce markets compete for space with high-tech electronics manufacturers. There is also a fascinating mixture of cultures here. Hundred year old churches, Chinese temples, Indian temples and mosques stand side by side.

In the middle of the bustling modern city is Penang Hill (Bukit Bendera), at almost 900 m (2,953 ft) high, with its cool, clean air. From its summit there are amazing views of the town, the island, and even the mountains on the mainland when the sky is clear. There is a Swiss-built funicular railway to take visitors to the summit, which creaks its way up through the beautiful tropical forest. At the top of the hill there is a cafe, a Hindu temple and a mosque.

If you want to escape the busy city, there are other attractions on the island, including plenty of lovely beaches, some quaint fishing villages, beautiful stretches of forest and cascading waterfalls. Among the less crowded beaches are Muka Head, Pantai Keracut, Monkey Beach, Pantai Acheh and Gertak Sanggul.

Penang Island is enriched by its numerous ethnic communities, among them Malays, Chinese and Indians, which live side by side in harmony to create a multi-faceted culture. Each community maintains its cultural identity through religious festivals and cultural shows, including angsawan, Boria, flag processions, the Chingay Parade, the Nine Emperor Gods Festival, the Hungry Ghosts Festival and Thaipusam. This succession of colourful festivals unravels throughout the year and when one big celebration is finished, another begins.

The Smart Way - Travelling Off-Season

By Graham McKenzie

Everyone knows travel can be expensive and it is worth the time and effort to research ways to keep costs down while still enjoying yourself. One of the little known ways of reducing travel costs is to look at the option of traveling off-season. Like any idea, there are advantages as well as disadvantages and you'll want to carefully consider both when trying to decide if off-season travel is a fit for you.

The first and foremost thing to be kept in mind is that you should list out the places you would like to visit. You can take your pick between a deluxe resort in Vermont or in Colorado. These places might turn out to be very expensive in winter season, but you can get an off of around 75% from the regular rates if you are visiting the place in off-season. You might not be able to go skiing but you can still enjoy other activities like horse-riding, hiking and motor biking to the mountains around the place. You can in turn spend your savings on a lavish vacation, which would not have been possible otherwise.

Since Europe is the favorite spot of many tourist in the summer, take a look at visiting in the winter. Hotels and museums are much less crowded and many travel agencies can help with finding discount travel packages that offer amazing savings and allow you to stay in high-end accommodations.

But you'll need to be fully informed so as to travel at a less popular time but still have a great trip. Research individual tourism sites and look for those specific to the overseas country you're interested in. Check the average weather for the time period you're planning and if all the locations you wish to see are open off-season, or if they have reduced hours of operation. If you're not picky about an occasional rain shower or even don't mind the cooler conditions of winter, you'll have many options available.

Inquire about the rents at hotels and inquire at different hotels. Hotels want to remain full, no matters which season it is. So by inquiring at different hotels, you can increase your chances of getting a cheap and nice deal. It is always advisable to talk to the manager of the hotel rather than dialing number 800.

You should also ensure that the hotel, you wish to stay in, has no renovation plans for the immediate future as that could severely hamper your high hopes of a peaceful and comfortable vacation with constant noises.

So in a nut shell, planning your trip is unquestionably going to help you in the new place. Off-Season travelling will let you enjoy the natural beauty, worth dollars, in pennies. Plan your trip and have an amazing experience.

Planning Flights To South Africa

By Graham McKenzie

Africa has become a very popular travel destination in recent years and by using all of the tools now available to you on the internet, you will be able to find the perfect trip for you. There are offers for travel packages, discounts and special deals and coupons, along with other money-savings opportunities. Today, the internet makes it possible to view photographs of various parts of Africa to help in your decision as to where you want to go. Many airlines now offer flights to Africa so finding one that can meet your travel needs should not be difficult.

There are many attractions in Africa, and wonderful hotels. There is beautiful scenery in Cape Town, and interesting attractions to visit in Johannesburg. On clear days in Cape Town, you?ll be able to enjoy the stunning views of False Bay, which is along the Atlantic Seaboard, famous for the landmark Table Mountain region. In this area there are views of gold mines, foundations, and many other interesting sights.

There are also airports scattered throughout the country in many of the local areas, including East London, Bloemfontein, Uprington, Nelspruit, Port Elizabeth, Kimberly, and others. With so many airports at your disposal, it?s easy to return home when your vacation is done.

Johannesburg is known to be the most popular city in South Africa. The city is a transit point for connecting flights. Historical and art museums of the city attract visitors. Durban is a major holiday resort which also has a number of attractions and reserves to visit such as Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve, Bur man Bush Nature Reserve. Its seaside attracts people who can also enjoy kinds of sport facilities. Port Elizabeth known for its sunshine, sandy beaches and thriving nightlife is also visited for its parks and reserves around. Soweto owns a number of historical sites.

Sun City as one of the South African Travel Attractions offers its guests entertainment, relaxation. Multitude of attractions and activities. At Sun City, visitors enjoy a day trip at the Pilanesberg National Park. Here balloon safaris are traditional. Moreover, one can experience elephant back riding and quad biking.

South Africa's most popular nature reserve is the Kruger National Park. Due to its numerous habitats and diversity of animal species, the park is an enormous wildlife reserve. It is regarded as one of Africa's top three safari destinations. It offers African travelers a taste of safari experience. It is also South Africa's best bird-watching location. Here you have the chance to meet the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo)

Also look into the best times to book your flight. Try to book your tickets at least seven days in advance, when you can get some of the very best rates on your flight. However, be careful of last-minute ?deals,? which are often not as good as they look: as more and more people begin to travel the world, true last-minute deals are diminishing in number. Also, try to fly to Africa on a holiday, which is considered off-peak by many airlines. You can save quite a bit of money even on already cheap flights to South Africa if you opt to depart during these times.

By Phillip Mcmillen

Reykjavik - The Most Northern Capital in the World

By Mandy Jester

Reykjavik is one of Europe's "hot" cities, thanks to its music scene and famed nightlife, with bubbling geysers and thermal springs nearby. Reykjavik's special energy draws on its unique physical and cultural landscape.

The northernmost national capital on Earth is a city of breathtaking contrasts. Small wooden houses with corrugated-iron roofs stand alongside futuristic glass buildings. Sophisticated cultural centres are just minutes away from newly created lava fields. Reykjavik is also a city where international influences blend seamlessly with Icelandic traditions, creating a unique European culture with roots that are ancient, but an outlook that is supremely modern.

The founders. In 874, Ingolfur Aranson became the first settler to step onto Icelandic soil. He called the place where he settled "Smoky Bay" because ghostly vapours rose out of the earth near his home. Where they came from and why, no one knew, Over the next thousand years, very few people settled along the widely spaced inlets leading into Smoky Bay.

Reykjavik would not prosper until well into the eighteenth century, when Governor Skiili Magnusson revitalized Iceland's economy by promoting wool manufacturing, fishing and shipbuilding. In 1749, he ordered that new harbours and shipyards be constructed on Smoky Bay, making Magnusson the city's founding father. Reykjavik received its city charter in 1786.

Independence. Once under way, Reykjavik thrived. Nevertheless, Iceland was still under Danish sovereignty and subject to the ups and downs of political and economic decisions made in distant Scandinavia. Iceland danced to the tune of the Danes until 1944, when everything changed. British and American troops stationed in Reykjavik during World War II brought Iceland a level of prosperity it had never known, leaving Reykjavik poised to become an important commercial centre. On 17 June 1944, the city finally gained independence from Denmark. Since then, Reykjavik has continued to thrive, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

Not just for the scenery. Many visitors to this far-flung island in the North Atlantic come for the amazing, unique scenery, but there are many sights to see in Reykjavik itself. The Old City, located on a small plot of land between Tjornin Pond and the sea, has a number of eighteenth-century buildings, and Tjornin Pond is a bird watchers' paradise. The new city hall (1992) is located on its northern bank.

The relief map of Iceland on display in its exhibition hall is a must-see. The Fogetinn (1751) is the oldest building in Reykjavik, and currently houses a restaurant serving traditional Icelandic food. Across the street is the newly restored monumental statue of Ingolfur Aranson, built in part with basalt columns said to be similar to those from his original homestead.

Hallgrimskirkja church. The modern Hallgrimskirkja is the symbol of Reykjavik, and a great place to begin a tour of the city. It was built on a hill and looks down over the entire city. Rising 73 metres, the church's central spire offers the best view of Reykjavik with the wide expanse of ocean in the background. A statue of Leif Ericson stands in front of the church's main portal.

It was a gift from the United States in honour of the 1,000-year anniversary of the founding of Iceland's parliament, the Althing, the first democratic assembly in Europe. Valley of the hot springs. The Laugardalur hot springs are just 3 km outside the city. Nearby are a huge camping site, a youth hostel, large open-air baths, a botanical Garden, a zoo and a sculpture garden. Hot water is pumped from numerous holes drilled in the earth. The steaming water is then circulated to heat the turf of Reykjavik's football stadium, among other things. Geothermal heat is the basis of nearly every heating system in Iceland. For centuries, Reykjavik's residents have derived their hot water and winter heat from the Earth.

Packing Supplies And Their Importance

By Dylan McThomas

If you have ever moved house, needed a storing solution or have had the need to ship goods from place to place, then you will have had a need for suitable packaging. Cardboard boxes have two basic material constructions, single wall and double wall.

Single wall boxes are built up of one layer of cardboard and one layer of fluting. They are perfect for transporting goods, particularly when the weight of the objects isn't too great.

Double wall is one layer of cardboard, one of fluting, followed by another layer of cardboard, then another of fluting, finishing with another layer of cardboard. They're ideal for heavier, bulky items for moving, storage or posting/courier transportation. They provide extra durability and protection for heavier more fragile items.

Although double walled boxes do cost more in the short term, they are able to support far more weight and are therefore far more durable than single walled boxes and will last much longer.

When packaging items that are relatively light, a single wall box is appropriate, but you can add extra padding using loosefill or as they're more notably referred to, wotsits (but if you try to eat them you'll be sorely disappointed, they're made from polystyrene!) Loosefill is an effective form of protection for light to medium weight item, but for heavier items, it may be worthwhile to wrap them in bubble wrap as well.

Bubble wrap will not only protect your goods from potential damage should the box be dropped or if it moves in transit, but it will also protect items surrounding your item from damage if your item has significant weight. Bubble wrap is cheap and so is cost effective as a means of protecting your goods whilst you move them from place to place.

Another method of padding out boxes to ensure the items within dont get damaged is corrugated paper (or wavy paper or protection paper.) This might be more appropriate depending on the dimensions of the item to be packed, but it is just as cost effective as bubble wrap and comes in a variety of widths to suit any packing need.

The main thing to keep
