Jeffrey's Bay South Africa History

By Andrew Keet

There are many speculations as to just exactly how Jeffrey's Bay ended up with its name. There was a ship trading captain that plied his trade along the East Coast of Africa during the 1800s and sometime in 1840 the crew of his vessel came down with scurvy. To save his crew Captain Jeffrey's landed his ship on the now main beach of Jeffrey's Bay, he later returned 10 years later and bought erven 1, 2, 9 and 10 for 79, here he build his home on what is now the corner of Woltemade and Jeffrey's Streets. The prominent Reilly family moved to Jeffrey's Bay in 1928 and it is reported that they used the original timber from Captain Jeffrey's ship to build their home.

There were other people called Jeffrey's in that area of South Africa at that time, one been a prominent trader that based himself in the Eastern Cape in the 1850s and the other a whale hunter from St Helena, who used Jeffery's Bay as a harbour and trading post.

Country Feeling surf shop is standing on land that the Reilly's bought in the 1960s and build a Wimpy Bar on it in 1964, this was demolished in 1964 to make way for double story residential flats that included a tea garden and gift shop on the same property.

In the 1850s the best know hotel in Jeffrey's Bay history was constructed, first called the Jeffrey's Bay Hotel and in 1937 renamed The Savoy, it was demolition in 1968 along with a part of Jeffrey's Bay history.

The legendary John Whitmore, also know as the father of South African surfing, was travelling the Garden Route of South Africa during the 1950s on a business trip and came across what is considered to be one of the best surfing waves in the world, the rest is history. Today thousands of surfers from across the globe make the pilgrimage to Jeffrey's Bay to pit them against the best right hand point break in the world and to pay homage to this awe inspiring wave. Jeffrey's Bay also hosts the international Billabong Pro competition which is the half way point to determine the next world surfing champion.

By Maritta Slatter

Diversity is Languedoc Roussillon France is so many ways. Comprised of 26 different regions and five separate departments, it's diversity can hardly be in question. It borders the Mediterranean Sea along with Spain and Andorra on one side, while on the other it borders other French regions such as the Auvergne, and the Midi-Pyrenees, and also the Provence-Alpes-Cote and the Rhone-Alpes. Diversity seems to be the main driving spirit of this French wonder.

It's flag is seen displaying the 'cross of Languedoc' and the 'flag of Roussillon' as well. These are now only represented by colors of Red and yellow as a new flag is waved without referring back to the old provinces. These colors represent languedoc along with all its old territories that sprout from what was formerly the 'Crown of Aragon'.

When it comes to wine-making, this region of France has long since been famous for it. The country lays out over 740, 300 acres of wine-making vineyards. This number triples the amount found in the Bordeau. It took some entrepreneurial spirit to bring it to fruition. This was led by people like James Herrick and Robert Skalli, who planted a higher quality grape and then made petition for newer AOC classifications.

Often called 'France's Sunbelt', this region lays out between the mountains of the Pyrennees and the Massif mountains. It holds 150 miles of curved coastline that is home to the most beautiful beaches known to France. The word itself, Languedoc, stems from the spoken tongue from back in the 13th century of France.

When visiting the region, you'll find there are no shortages of things to do and see. If wine and architecture tickle your fancy, then you won't be disappointed here. And if nudism on unspoiled beaches holds a particular attraction for you, again you're at the right place.

Adventure, Sun, Sand, The Everglades And Naples, Florida

By Deb Schwabe

Vacationers love beach vacations and in south-west Florida you will find Naples, a gorgeous beach. This city is regarded as the jewel in the crown of the Florida coastline. For all year round fun in the sun, golfing, first class shopping, fine dining and adventure, Naples cannot be beaten by the best of playgrounds.

Naples is a mere hop, skip and jump from the "Everglades" an untamed tropical wonderland. Or if it is island seclusion you are seeking, you will find it. This is one of the most famous sand-boxes in the US and it boasts the calmest seas as well as one of the best climates. Many water sports enthusiasts, beach lovers and enthusiastic vacationers love this city for its many recreational facilities.

Adventure is what the Florida Everglades is about, so there is not shortage of adventure available from Naples. Vacations are not only about beaches, shopping and eating. The Everglades present the visitor with the opportunity to come eye to eye with animal life in their own natural habitat. This includes a great many unique bird species as well as bison, alligator, snakes and panther, as well as others.

There are over 10,000 uninhabited islands in the Everglades which is a tropical paradise composed of varied ecosystems. Exploring these by kayak and canoe means floating through tunnels of mangrove and over prairies composed of saw-grass. If you are a lucky adventurer you might just meet up with a local school of friendly dolphins or manatees, and perhaps even come eye-to eye with the much maligned and sinister alligator. This kind of adventure will make for some unforgettable memories.

If the Everglades are just a little too much adventure for you, you could also spend a day with animals in a more controlled environment, the Naples Zoo. This is a nationally accredited zoo situated in the exquisite botanical gardens known as the Caribbean Gardens. So it is two sight-seeing facilities in one. Cruise past monkeys on the islands and make a point of visiting the panther glade, African oasis and tiger forest.

With so many water sports and boating activities on offer, Naples would be remiss if it did not offer something special for the avid angler. Both in and off-shore fishing is popular in this area and you will find trout, redfish, snook, tarpon, shark, grouper, snapper and plenty of game fish available for the catching.

A visit to Naples would not be complete without at least one attempt to see the gentle manatee in is own habitat. You will find various guides who claim to be able to take you to a spot where you will find them. And one guide company in particular, says you don't have to pay for your trip if you don't get to see a manatee.

Advantages of Down Sleeping Bags

By Ron Jackson

There are days when we really have to go back to our roots, leave the hustle and bustle of the city, and commune with nature. It's an urge that is ingrained to us. And even though the magic of technology has somehow spoilt us and these new machines have become sort of like our extra limbs, we still find the urge to go camping once in a while or to go fishing.

Somewhere within every man is a caveman, an adventurer, just waiting to escape. And when we don't indulge that urge, we get edgy, irritable, bored.

However, braving the wilderness without the common comforts of modern living is incredibly hard. Besides, it is not really necessary. Bringing a bit of technology into our little nature treks can't exactly be considered as cheating, just practical.

Of course, there's a limit. There are some things that are not allowed on camping trips, such as portable satellite TVs or microwave ovens. There are certain things that are allowable, however, like mosquito nets and of course, sleeping bags.

Sleeping bags, as the name implies, are sort of like large body bags where you can rest in when you retire for the night during camping. They come in various shapes, sizes, and colors. You can take your pick, really. But what's special about it is that it is a big bag, sort of like a cocoon, which you can zip up when you go to sleep. People use it when they go hiking or in any other situation where bringing a bed along would be sort of impossible. They are usually made of cotton or wool, and which one you'll use depends on where you'll go.

While sleeping bags provide a relative amount of comfort which would lessen the machismo effect of camping, they actually do serve a more practical purpose.

The wild is not a place to be taken lightly, especially if you are not very experienced with it. There are dangers there that you would do well to shun if you do not want to be harmed. First of all, there's the threat of mosquitoes. Down sleeping bags can effectively keep these critters at bay.

Most importantly, down sleeping bags serve as warmth. When the temperature drops during the evenings, down sleeping bags can provide warmth.

Gay Travel Tips for Chile

By Howie Holben

Chile is a unique gay travel destination that allows visitors to ski the Andes, explore volcanoes, relax on pristine beaches, and hit the clubs in Santiagos gay district all in one day. The vast and varied landscape and landmarks of Chile include arid deserts, the Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, the statues of Easter Island, the Elqui Valley of La Serena (long rumored to be associated with extraterrestrial activity), the Mirador de Chepu Penguin Colony, and old-world churches and architecture throughout the country.

With many cultural, historic and natural attractions to choose from, Chile offers a variety of options for gay vacations, which include snowboarding or ski strips to world-renowned Andes resorts, touring Chiles wine country, pilgrimages intent on experiencing the countrys deep tradition of Catholicism and exploring churches, family vacations on the beaches of Vina del Mar, sightseeing adventures to take in the breathtaking landscapes of Patagonia and learn of ancient island civilizations, or urban excursions centered on experiencing the cosmopolitan culture and nightlife in Santiago.

As a country that has been deeply influenced by both the Catholic Church and the military, Chile would certainly not be described as a bastion of gay rights; however, as a whole, the country is slowly becoming more progressive and is beginning to become more accepting of the LGBT community. Gay life in Chile centers largely around Santiago, which is where singles, couples and families on a gay vacation will find the most welcoming atmosphere and the highest concentration of gay-friendly and gay-owned establishments. Santiagos gay community is primarily found in the Barrio Bellavista, which is a trendy neighborhood with charming shops, cafs and eateries and is also home to most of Santiagos bathhouses, gay bars and gay clubs. Although it is not likely that you will see rainbow flags hanging for rooftops or same-sex couples walking through the streets hand in hand, it is quite common to find gay magazines openly displayed in newsstands and couples sipping coffee at cosmopolitan sidewalk cafs.

The gay-owned Spanish restaurant, Capricho, is a popular first stop for a night out in Bellavista, often followed by drinks a one of the local gay bars and dancing into the early hours of the morning at one of Santiagos gay clubs. Options for clubbing range from discos much like those found in most large cities to risqu clubs with live sex shows. It is common to begin a night out with dinner around 9 or 10pm, followed by a lively night of escapades that may not end until the sun is coming up. There are also several bathhouses " often called saunas " in Santiago, including a more upscale option catering to professionals. As in the U.S., HIV is a concern and precautions should be taken to ensure a safe, enjoyable gay vacation in Chile.

Santiagos central location in this long, narrow country makes it an ideal choice as a home base for exploring all that Chile has to offer. Because it is also the most welcoming location for gay travel, Santiago is a popular choice for gay vacations. When planning a gay vacation to Chile, working with a travel agency well-versed in gay travel in this region will assist you in designing a memorable vacation that is safe, fun-filled and meets your travel needs whether you are traveling as a group of single friends, a couple or a family.

Things To Know About Alaska Fishing Guides

By Alaska Fishing Tours

When it comes time to finally head up to one of the few remaining expanses of undeveloped areas in the United States, full of game and pristine wilderness, finding a good Alaska fishing guide could be a necessary step to take. There are some really wild and vast regions in Alaska, including the Kenai Peninsula area, so having a guide who knows the ins-and-out of such places could be a good thing.

What, then, are the things to keep in mind in looking for someone to guide a person or a whole fishing party around a state like Alaska and Kenai or any other part of the state? Well, keep in mind that just about anybody who wants to can hang out a sign and proclaim himself a guide. There are no state licensing requirements to do so, although all the best guides adhere to certain practices and principles, and will possess certain credentials.

It would be a mistake to assume that everybody acting as a guide up in Alaska has liability or hazard insurances, because some don't. In fact, acting as a guide can be something somebody does in between deep-sea fishing jobs or some other seasonal activity, so check to see if guiding is a full-time job. Also, there can be a lot of miles in between a fishing camp and a doctor, so find out if the guide has first aid and CPR training and a good first aid kit.

Since guides themselves aren't going to be doing the fishing, they're not required to have any of the several kinds of licenses to fish somebody might need, depending on the type of fishing being done. But all the good guides take the time to stay licensed, and it could be a good indicator of the guide's seriousness about his profession.

Most guides in Alaska fall into two camps; those who specialize in a certain region or type of fishing and those who are more generalized. Which one is best depends upon the individual circumstance. Take a moment to ask him or her how long they've been in business and what sort of fishing activities they specialize in. Hiring on an Alaska fishing guide isn't a very difficult process, but a person should take a few minutes to check one out before anything else.

Not All Cheap Flights Are Good

By Graham McKenzie

Some of the very things that make cheap airfare possible can actually cause you a few headaches. To begin with, you need to do some research. Establishing a baseline ticket cost, by contacting the major airlines, will help immensely when you begin comparison-shopping, but it is time consuming, and requires you to keep careful records.

The availability of Internet sites promising cheap airfares has made flying more assessable, and much more affordable. However, there are some definite downsides. The biggest problem for many seems to be that they do not know where to start. With so many options available, it is hard to know which one will give you what you need at the best possible price. Each company runs things a little differently, and you cannot assume the stipulations that govern one, will apply to all the others. The only answer is to search until you find the package that works for you, but again, this can be a long, drawn-out process, and there is no guarantee you will end up with a significant savings.

Keep in mind that some cheap fare sites will not confirm your airline or flight times, until after you have committed to purchasing a ticket. If you have the luxury of flexibility, you may not find this challenging.

You can usually save some money on your ticket if you fly into an alternate airport, and some cheap fare sites actually require this before they accept a bid. However, this savings can be a double-edged sword. Not factoring in the added travel time, you need to think about the cost of hiring a taxi, car rental, and/or gas. Other things to weigh are weather conditions and familiarity with the vicinity. Icy roads, detours, or a wrong turn, can make that savings all but insignificant, not to mention the hassle involved.

Remember that flights purchased on low-fare sites are usually non-refundable. Booking your flight fourteen to twenty-one days in advance will save you money, but if your plans change, you could be in a bind. Many of the cheap booking sites can and will charge a cancellation fee, not to mention you may be out the price of your ticket. Hidden costs like this can make a cheap flight quite expensive.

More often than not, travel deals on low-cost sites have some restrictions. You may not be able to use your frequent flyer miles or a stand-by option. It is important to inform yourself before committing your money, but sometimes, finding all the facts you need takes time and patience. Information on restrictions is available, but it is sometimes hidden in different niches throughout the website, making it very difficult to find.

As a final point, remember that you will not be dealing with a real person when you book online. If you have problems or questions, you will not find much in the way of help. Online, you are on your own.

Teenage Halloween Costume Ideas: How to Choose

By Phil Sikes

Even though it might seem like when it you start the process, finding an awesome Halloween costume for your teenage son or daughter does not have to be an enormous challenge. By combining your own creativity with what you see in online retailers' shops and local stores, you will be able to choose a costume that is truly perfect.

The preliminary step in selecting a Halloween costume for a teenager is determining what theme you would like to work with. That basically means selecting a category of costumes so that your costume search gets narrowed down at least a little bit.

The next decision you need to make is whether you would prefer to purchase the costume in a local costume shop or by means of an Internet store. Buying a Halloween costume on the Internet has its advantages, such as having access to more costumes, buying from a retailer with a larger stock of costumes, and being able to find what is typically the best price. You can find a plethora of online costume shops by doing a Google search for "teenage Halloween costumes."

After doing such a search, you should stick to the results on the first few pages. You can refine your search, however, if you would like a very specific costume. For example, searching for "teenage Marie Antoinette Halloween costume" might help you find that special, hard to find costume that you are hunting for. Try out some similar searches and see if you can't find something interesting.

Modern themed costumes include movie, sports, and music stars. Basically anyone that has received recent public attention in the media is a good candidate for a teenage Halloween costume. For instance, your teenager could dress as the Barack Obama girl, Michael Vick's dog trainer, Al Gore's son, Paris Hilton dressed as a convict, and Lindsay Lohan's drug rehab counselor.

The news is rife with ideas like these and some not quite so much capitalizing on their misfortunes. Try and make your costumes as clever as you can, incorporating as much detail and imagination as you can into them. Don't settle for the store bought costume and leave it at that. Make sure to go the extra mile and do the makeup, appropriate props, and anything else that will help get your point across.

Take the idea about Lindsay Lohan's drug rehab counselor, for example. Accessories for this costume could include a police mug shot of Lindsay. You might design a fake dead dog for Michael Vick's dog trainer to drag around on a leash. These types of clever and unique accessories turn a normal costume into a big conversation piece.

Remember to try on your costume before the night of Halloween. You want to be able to make any adjustments necessary before the last minute. Use these suggestions to make your teenage Halloween costume truly memorable.

Chile Is A Wonderful Perfect Gay Travel Destination

By Howie Holben

Chile is a unique gay travel destination that allows visitors to ski the Andes, explore volcanoes, relax on pristine beaches, and hit the clubs in Santiagos gay district all in one day. The vast and varied landscape and landmarks of Chile include arid deserts, the Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, the statues of Easter Island, the Elqui Valley of La Serena (long rumored to be associated with extraterrestrial activity), the Mirador de Chepu Penguin Colony, and old-world churches and architecture throughout the country.

The uniqueness of Chiles natural, cultural and historic attractions provide the opportunity to plan a variety of gay vacations including adventurous excursions trekking through breathtaking Patagonian landscapes and exploring ancient island cultures, ski or snowboard trips to world-famous Andes ski resorts like Valle Nevado, pilgrimages to visit churches and experience the deeply entrenched Catholic influences throughout the country, family beach vacations in Vina del Mar, wine-tasting tours, or trips centered around the bustling nightlife and rich culture and history of Chiles capital, Santiago.

A night on the town in Bellavista " or anywhere in Santiago " generally begins with dinner around 9 or 10pm, as is customary in many Latin countries. In Bellavista, a night often begins at a gay-owned restaurant, such as Capricho, a well-known Spanish eatery, followed by dancing or drinks in local gay clubs and bars. Bellavistas gay clubs range from the usual fare expected in most larger cities, to bawdier options with live sex shows, and partying often goes until the sun comes up. Santiago also has several saunas (bathhouses), including one trendier, slightly more expensive option with mostly professional clientele. Folks considering visiting Santiagos saunas should keep in mind that Chile, like the U.S., is struggling with HIV and should always remember to play safely to ensure a safe gay vacation.

The fact that Santiago is the most accepting city in Chile for a gay vacation, coupled with its central location for ease of exploring all that Chile offers, this capital city is one of the most popular Chilean locales for gay vacations. Whether you are planning a Chilean gay vacation for you and your partner, your family, or a group of single friends, working with a travel agency that is accustomed to organizing gay travel in Chile is your best bet for ensuring a safe, fun trip that you will always remember.

The Interesting Chinese Miao Guzang Festival- Ancestor Worship

By Clare Liu

The GuZang festival is celebrated once every 13 years by the Miao minority in southern China. The local people dress up themselves with their spectacular silver jewelry that weights 30 pounds, and attend all activities held during the festival.

During the festival, the Miao always use propitious words and avoid any taboo subject. For slaughtering a pig, they say kiss the big official; for fetching a butcher knife, and they say bring the leaf ; for heating the stove with some straw to cook the pork, they say cover the official with the quilt. When they finish eating and feel full, they will say full of the storehouse .

On the 5th day of the GuZang festival, people lead the sacred bulls to walk around the village, with firecrackers exploding loudly. The bulls wear colorful decorations on their body.

The next day before daybreak, the bulls are slaughtered. Their heads are heads are set up facing east, which means the ancestors of the Miao are from the eastern part of China. Then a ceremony is held to release souls of these bulls from purgatory. People sing the old sacrificial songs together.

When the ceremony is over, the Miao divide the meat of bulls into different pieces and distribute them to each family.

In the next few days, the Miao continue to revel in their festival. They sing and dance with the beautiful drum music echoing through the mountains.

Bullfighting is an exciting game you can't miss during the festival. Two bulls fight madly with each other. The one that is killed in the game will be considered a hero and buried with a grand funeral. His battle story is inscribed on the gravestone.

There is a very interesting story about the origin of the GuZang festival, but to learn about it, visit my website below!

Everyone you talk to will tell you to do whatever you can to get the rest you need. As this becomes more of a necessity, the market for memory foam pillows has risen.

But the deal works out well for you as well, because it gives you a lot of options to pick from. Even if they're just looking to make money, they're giving you the chance to get the kind of sleep you really need for a more relaxed life.

You probably haven't thought all that much about the pillow you're using. Yet, try imagining how you'd be able to sleep without it. Clearly, they are a very important element, which should imply that the higher the quality of the pillow, the better you'll sleep. Many people chase this quality using all sorts of different types of pillows. When you get one made out of memory foam, though, you'll be sure to get what you want.

Just what makes such a pillow worthwhile? The main point is the support it offers. When you're able to give your neck what it needs, your whole body will start to feel relief from pain as your spine and other elements are aligned. This means that in just one night, you'll notice a difference, and this will continue to become more significant with time.

Even if the pain you suffer comes in the form of headaches, you're likely to notice improvements when you start using the pillow. This might surprise you, but as people who own memory foam mattresses can tell you, there's more to gain from these products than you might ever predict. Indeed, if you can, it's a great idea to get both of the items.

Sometimes, though, you aren't going to be able to get both. The mattress can cost quite a bit and might be outside your budget. If this is the case, though, the pillow alone can still be worth getting. It's a much more affordable option and yet still has a lot of good to offer you. While the benefits might increase with a mattress, you should take what you can.

There is the fact that you want to be sure you're getting the best option for your money. There are a lot of options when it comes to getting best quality. You should be looking for something with a five to six pound density and a thickness of four to five inches, not to mention companies that will give you warranties and return policies when you buy.

To help in the shopping process, take whatever advantage you can. First, look online to see what other people are saying and where you're going to get the best deals. Next, talk to people you know. They can give you detailed information and good advice about their own experiences. From this, you'll be able to get a pillow and get your sleeping back on track.

Feel Safe And Secure In Your Hotel When You Travel On Your Holiday

By Dorothy Yamich

Whether they drive or take a flight, many people when they travel on vacations or holidays usually stay at a hotel or a resort. What they may not know/be aware of is that their vacation could be ruined by professional thieves who make their living by targeting some unsuspecting tourist. These thieves usually hang around hotels and resorts, mainly in the lobbies, waiting for tourists who seem to be easy pickings.

So here are some helpful travel tips that may help you feel and be more secure in your hotel room when you travel on a holiday or a business trip.

First of all, the lobbies of hotels and resorts should not be considered secure, even in the opulent ones. Folks on vacation can be easy pickings for opportunistic thieves, especially at peak times when the hotel reception staff is very busy with new guests arriving and other guests that are trying to check out. Never leave your travel luggage unguarded unless you know for sure that its being looked after by the bellman.

If you are having something to eat in a hotel restaurant when on holiday, especially a buffet, never leave your laptop, briefcase, or handbag unguarded to get a drink or some more food. It takes a thief only a split second to make off with them. It would be virtually impossible for the hotel staff to be constantly on the lookout for these criminals.

When booking your hotel room, it is best to book one that is on the second, third, fourth, or fifth floor, as ground floor rooms are more susceptible to break ins. Keep in mind that hotel rooms above the fifth floor may not be accessible by many fire engine ladders if a fire happens to break out in the hotel.

Be sure and check to make sure that the door to your room locks properly, and that the windows and sliding doors open, but also lock securely. Many hotels and resorts use electronic card keys for their hotel room doors as they offer more security than metal keys. Do not carry your key card in its folder if the folder has the room number on it. Jot down the room number on a piece of paper, keep it on your person when you go out, and leave the folder in your room.

Always identify any unfamiliar hotel staff or visitors to your room before opening the door. Call the front desk if youre in doubt as to the authenticity of that person. It is advisable to not give out your room number to anyone that you do not know and trust.

It may not be a good idea to hang a please clean the room sign on the door knob when you go out, as it lets a would be thief know that there is probably no one in the room.

Do not assume that your hotel room door is locked just because it closes automatically when you leave. Check to make sure that its really locked. If your room has a balcony, make sure the sliding glass door is also locked as it may be possible for someone to climb on to your balcony from a balcony thats above, below, or beside yours.

Never leave any valuables lying around in plain view in your hotel room. They may be too tempting for some cleaning staff to resist. Place all small valuables in your room safe if there is one. Keep in mind that the safes that use metal keys are not as secure as the ones that use electronic key cards.

The next best bet if there isnt a safe in your room is to lock your small valuables in your largest suitcase when you go out. Locked, hard sided travel luggage offers the best security. Some travelers use duct tape to secure small valuables to the underside of the hotel room furniture.

Always use your doors deadbolt and chain lock at night before you go to sleep, or if you feel like taking a nap.

There is a very small, inexpensive, battery-operated, motion-sensitive, burglar alarm that can be hung on the inside hotel door knob, or there is a wedge-shaped alarm that you can shove under the door that accomplishes the same thing. If someone tries to open your door, the alarm will ring.

There are two less sophisticated methods you could use. You can move a chair in front of the hotel door and place the back rest under the knob, or wedge a standard rubber door stopper under the door. Either of these two methods are also effective.

When you are packing and getting ready to check out of your hotel or resort, dont forget to empty your room safe. And last but not least, count the number of pieces of luggage you brought and make sure that everything has been put in your taxi.

The most important thing to remember is to always be vigilant and aware of your surroundings at all times when travel on holidays.

Rent A House For Private Vacation Luxury

By Fabio Itonga

If you've decided to rent beach accommodations this holiday, great! How do you go about finding one that's right for your needs?

Actually finding a beach rental isn't hard, especially now that there's the Internet. Simply use your favorite search engine and type in "beach rental" and you will get a lengthy list of prospects. The trick will be in narrowing down the choices.

To do this, it is best if you know where you want to go and what type of rental you want. If you don't know where you want to spend your vacation, you will face a dizzying array of choices. But if you have a location in mind, you can use the search engine to seek beach rentals in that location. Another option is to search for the chambers of commerce, tourist bureaus or real estate agencies for that area. Each of these offices will have lists of vacation rental properties and beach rental agencies.

Another option is to search for the newspapers of your destination and check the classified ads for rentals. Craiglist and other online classified advertising is another good idea. These ads will either be from beach rental agencies or from private owners. While dealing directly with a private owner may be less expensive than using an agency, remember the owner may not be an expert in beach rentals and any problems that arise may be difficult to resolve.

The internet has many rental directories that may help you. However, to use them, it is a good idea to know what type of rental you would like, the location and your price range. Don't know what type of rental you would like? You can rent a house, an apartment, a condominium, a villa or a resort. Each of these have its advantages depending on how many people you are traveling with and what your vacation needs are. Rental directories are especially helpful because they often have links to other information, such as nearby amenities and entertainment.

As you try to narrow down your choices, be sure to consider the price, the location and what is included in the price. If you are traveling with children or pets be sure to find out whether they are welcome. You should also find out what attractions and services are nearby.

No matter what beach rental you choose, carefully read all agreements and be sure you understand them before you sign. You don't want any unpleasant surprises on your vacation, especially if it is far away from your permanent home.

Finding your vacation rental is easier than ever thanks to the Internet. Be sure to start looking long before your vacation (at least six months) for the best selection. Take the information superhighway to your dream beach rental.

The Task of Searching for Disneyland Discount Tickets

By Ethan Timmerton

When most people are asked about their favorite destination vacation, they will say they would like to go to Disneyland. There is something special about being able to be taken back to your childhood with Disney cartoon characters all around you. It excites even adults and makes them want to step inside Disneyland and see the character firsthand.

However, the dream of going to Disneyland may just remain a dream for most of us. This is for the reason that no matter how amusing this place is, we may not be amused of the price of the ticket that we need to buy for entrance, as they can be very expensive.

If you spend any time surfing the internet, you have seen that Disneyland discount tickets are offered by some places. The problem is that it is not as simple as going to Disney and simply asking for Disneyland discount tickets. There are other companies though, that have seen this is a problem for families who would like to go but can't afford it.

One of the things that you can do to get Disneyland discount tickets is to reach them this year, which is 2009, and tell them that it's your birthday. They will simply ask for several identifications plus documents that will prove that it is really your birthday. Once you are able to prove this, then you are eligible for a free ticket. Not just a discounted one but for free. What a perfect birthday gift, right?

When you buy the Disneyland ticket online, you may be able to take advantage of a discount. This is because they will charge you more if you wait to do it at the gates. Yet another choice you have is purchasing them sooner than you will attend the park.

My final suggestion is that you search for travel groups that provide Disneyland discount tickets for purchase. They offer them in packages sometimes, or as standalone offers. If you try searching for them online, be aware that there is not very many of them because Disneyland will not make the agreement with too many companies to provide discounts. But if you search hard enough, you are sure to find something good.

Getting Disneyland discount tickets may not be as easy as it could be since you are required to do a lot of research online. But just think of the reward and happiness that you can get once you get a hold of this ticket. This is one childhood dream that will come true through thorough searching.

Getting Married Abroad

By David Henry

Getting married abroad was until a couple of years ago a box standard affair in the caribbean, but now there is some fantastic purpose built hotels and resorts with breathtaking settings and guaranteed weather in some of the worlds best locations.

Be very careful before booking those flights and do your research which is the key to a successful wedding day.

If you are considering the Southern hemisphere the season is quite short and spans from November through to April with the rainy season in between, not ideal for a beach wedding! Popular tourist spots may have beautiful hotel locations but can be crowded during peak season and the weather can be extremely hot.

Generally speaking getting married abroad is a more intimate affair with time to spend with close family and friends and the bonus of course is it can be considerably cheaper.

Different countries have different traditions and legal requirements. This is where the research really needs to be focused and detailed. Check out the marriage laws, legal requirements and exact documentation you will be required to produce. Often Civil ceremonies are the only recognized ceremony and be sure to check if the particular Country has a minimum residency requirement prior to your big day. Finally be sure to check all passports are valid for at least 6 months after your return and any visas are applied for well in advance.

Consider the services of a wedding planner if your wedding is a little more than a standard wedding package. Local knowledge is invaluable when choosing hairdressers, restaurants, flowers and cars etc and an experienced planner can ensure a smooth effortless day is guaranteed.

Enjoying Provence France

By Pierre J Kallmec

Provence France which is bordered on the west by the Rhone River is a Province in France. The river which is on the western side of the Province forms a common frontier with neighboring Languedoc. On the east the Provence France is bordered by an Italian border. Over all, the Province stretches over one hundred and fifty miles. Provence France spans over a one hundred mile around from Serre-Poncon in the north to the islands of Hyeres in the south.

The Rhone River, which borders the Provence France on the west, is a fast flowing frontier river. The Durance River is the real artery of the Province which once was considered a seasonally destructive torrent. The river has since been tamed by the people by building dams along the river. The Durance River curls like a sluggish snake around a broad valley. Those who are visiting the Province of Provence, France for sight seeing reasons will really want to visit these two rivers.

You will find that the landscape of Provence is filled with many distinct characters and contrasts. There are many lush valleys that can be found throughout the Province. You will commonly find these lush valleys in areas that have less fertile vegetation. Alongside the edges of the major rivers you will find the Alluvial plains. You will want to visit the Camargue which offers a very interesting landscape in which the distinction between land and sea is often blurred.

There are parts of Provence in which the water meets the land and has carved caved beneath the surface of the limestone rocks. You will find that those that are larger and more accessible are often used as show caves and happen to be some of the most famous show caves in all of Europe. Gorges have also been formed as rivers cut deeply into the limestone. If you are interested in seeing gorges you will want to visit the very famous Verdon Gorge.

There are also a number of very complicated ranges of mountains located in the Province of Provence France. There is a mountain range that lays to the west of the very famous Verdon Gorge. The Alpine and Pyrennean folds also meet in this specific area. The Mount Ventoux is also located in this area which happens to be the high peak in the Province of Provence France. By traveling further to the south you will find the Montagne Ste Victorie which is a buckled mountain range and was one of the favorite perspectives of Paul Cezanne.

Provence France follows in suit with the rhythms of the common Mediterranean climate in which seasons tend to change in abrupt succession. You will find that the rapid autumn rains of autumn quickly end the extensive heat of summer. Winters really tend to be mild in Provence France. The region gets the most rainfall in the spring which is around the same time that the plant life explodes into growth.

The Province of Provence France is actually located on the north tip of the Sahara Desert. Being located in this particular location, the Province can have some brutally hot summers. Without the Mediterranean, the Province of Provence France would be completely Saharan. The Mediterranean is an extremely salted inland sea that rarely sees any tides. There are period of time when the Algeria can go without rain for six months. The Provence will go without rain for a period of three months at times.

A Mississippi Cruise To Remember

By Anthony Herbert

A Mississippi cruise is truly a wonderful experience. But to avoid the crowds, you can take advantage of a little known secret that will make your cruise a much more individual experience. Instead of booking a downriver cruse, take an upriver one, starting on the Mississippi Delta. You will be much less inconvenienced by fellow travelers.

Galveston, about an hour's by car from Houston, is a great starting point for a Mississippi cruise if you are coming from the East. It is a historical area since it was already a very large, bustling commercial city in the 19th century. In fact the city was the Ellis Island of the Gulf, and many immigrants (especially of German origin) landed in Galveston.

Before leaving on your Mississippi cruise you may want to stop in the city for a couple of days, as interesting sights abound. There are several close and lovely beaches for sunbathing and swimming, for instance, as well as some lovely landscaped gardens in the city proper.

New Orleans is another very good spot from where to begin a Mississippi cruise, and is also worth a stay to savor its colorful history and great town center. The city is mostly recovered from the recent hurricanes, and areas of visitor interest are all accessible.

Actually, by contributing to the New Orleans economy by visiting it before leaving on a Mississippi cruise, you will be doing a worthy thing. And a couple of days spent in the city will be a thing to remember.

Start your visit in the French Quarter, which is the town's most historical area, and also its most lively. Lots of shopping and interacting with the locals takes place there, and you can buy any items you may need on your Mississippi cruise.

You certainly won't go hungry in New Orleans, as there are tons of options, from the humble muffaletta, a sandwich with olives, to a ritzy supper with oysters and seafood. And you will probably encounter both these local staples again, on that upriver Mississippi cruise.

Talking about cuisine, you will find that two distinctive styles predominate. These are Creole and Cajun cooking. Creole food is inspired by French bourgeois cuisine and is more refined and heavy, which makes it popular for formal dinners during a Mississippi cruise.

Cajun cuisine is more hearty and rural, with lots of hot food, and includes whatever animal that you can get without it eating you first! You can get alligator, and in fact you will see it on a lot of menus. Try these in the city, as not all Mississippi cruises will have them on their menu.

As for some safety tips: summer and even mid-season (spring, autumn) can get very hot both in Galveston and in New Orleans, so wear your walking shoes and take sunscreen and a hat. Also, don't leave your valuables unguarded before leaving for that Mississippi cruise!

When You Want A Scuba Diving Career

By Simon N James

Scuba Divers are made of many people that are tired of the usual tedious workday, followed by the nerve-racking task of driving to work; add all the noise pollution it instigates. That's before everything else scuba divers encounter in these fast paced times outside of scuba diving.

If you're adventurous and unconventional enough, a career in scuba diving may be right for you. Usually, those who pursue scuba diving careers were scuba diving enthusiasts who wish to take their hobby a little further. Scuba diving couldn't possibly be compared to other career choices.

The important thing, however, is a keen interest in scuba diving and the talent. To teach, you have to be really good in the stuff yourself. Although it is a lucrative profession that anyone would die to be involved with, you have to cultivate your diving skills properly before you embark upon a scuba diving career.

All professionals begin as learners and scuba diving is no exception. Even the instructors begin with basics and then master the difficult aspects of diving. However, one quality that is essential is a passion for the sport. The instructors have to have a great love for diving that will enable them to teach others in such a manner that they will enjoy diving, rather than being scared of it.

Many look up to the diving instructor assuming they know it all about scuba diving. Since the potential to inspire them can be great or potentially heartbreaking, you really do need to know anything they need to know, and more!

When you don't, you need to admit that as well! If your journey is endlessly learning more when diving in many situations, you should seriously consider a career in scuba diving as an instructor.

The scope of improvement and the constant developments in scuba diving is something that has increased the interest in scuba diving career. For the ones who are interested and want to explore the unknown territories and discover more about marine life, this is a great career for them.

To become a diving instructor you must first be a Dive master. With that out of the way, then you have to take the Instructor Development Course. This extensive course will take you deeper into diving than you have been. It will educate you on diving standards, safety, students, the system, and relevant law.

By the end of an instructor development course, you are expected to learn more than just the basics of diving. You will be taught about diving standards, safety and regulations and the scuba diving system as it relates to the law. Of course, you'll learn several techniques that you can employ to effectively teach your future students.

Deer Valley Resort Restaurant Advice

By Robin Rutecki

The ski resorts in Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado have been competing over the last 20 years to create the perfect mountain vacation getaway. The ski vacation is no longer the same experience it was in the 1980s when lodgings of marginal quality were considered the norm.

The last ten years have brought continual expansion to the size of resort facilities, on mountain services, shopping, and dining. While there are many top quality ski destinations; Vail Resort in Vail, CO and Deer Valley Resort in Park City, UT consistently fill the #1 and #2 spots as rated by Ski Magazine readers. Deer Valley Resort has taken the number one honors in 2001, 2005, 2007, and 2008.

To consistently hold the #1 spot in Ski Magazines survey, Deer Valley Resort focuses on its dining experience, on mountain services, and well manicured ski runs. Deer Valley is widely known to have the best food in the ski business but it does not just stop with lunch. The resort converts its opulent ski lodges into fine dining restaurants each night during the ski season. Each evening the staff redecorates with such skill you can hardly notice that you are dining in the same lodge you ate lunch earlier in the day.

Selections at Deer Valleys three fine dining restaurants include continental and European fare at Mariposa, fresh seafood at the Seafood Buffet, and Swiss alpine selections at Fireside Dining. Mariposa consistently receives top reviews with the Seafood Buffet and Fireside Dining not far behind.

Park City Utah has also improved its service level by increasing the number of high end accommodations and by adding many great restaurants. The traditional ski vacation lodging options have been displaced due to the demands of the modern traveler.

As a result of the recent transition towards a more discerning palate, area restaurants have responded by introducing a rich dining experience worthy of top honors. Distinguished rating agencies such as the Michelin Travel Guide, Mobile Travel Guide, and Zagat Restaurant Guide have awarded Deer Valley area restaurants with their highest ratings.

Although there are many fantastic Deer Valley restaurants, my favorite choice is the Goldener Hirsch Restaurant which is tucked away in the Austrian inspired Goldener Hirsch Inn. The Stein Eriksen Lodge has arguably one of the finest restaurants in the county with its Glitretind Restaurant. The Glitretind is also famous for its daily Skiers Lunch Buffet during the winter season.

Living up to its #1 ski resort reputation, Deer Valley Resort certainly will not disappoint. No matter what your personal preference you will definitely be able to find something to your liking both on and off the mountain. Deer Valley Resort is definitely worth a closer examination. Two thumbs up!

Travel Tips for Pet Travel

By Amy Nutt

Putting a pet on a plane for travel can be a stressful time for owners and their pet. Before you travel with your pet, it is important to make sure you have implemented the following tips to ensure your pets safety as well as its health and well-being.

Pet Risk Destination Assessment: Check health risks in the destination area such as Lyme disease, Rabies, Heartworm, and other parasites and viruses. Treat your pet to prevent affliction. As well, check for breed restrictions at the destination before traveling. Some types of breeds and animal species are banned.

Assess Your Pets Health: Travel can be a stressful time for any pet. Make sure that your pet is healthy. Sick, injured, too young or too old, and pregnant pets should not fly. Make sure all of the vaccinations are up-to-date. Vaccinations must be administered at least 30 days before departure. Rabies certificates should be obtained and signed no more than 10 days before departure. Make sure that your pet's nails have been clipped to protect against them hooking on the carrier's door, holes, and other small spaces. Do not feed your pet for four to six hours prior to air travel. Vomiting in the carrier is messy.

Pet Identification: Provide your pet with two identification tags. Make sure the tag contains your name, all of your contact numbers, home address, and phone number and address of your destination location. A microchip is a permanent way to identify your pet. Another option is to acquire a pet passport. A pet passport can be purchased at most local pet stores or on the internet. The passport will keep all of your pets health information and emergency contacts readily available. Attach a photograph of your pet to the top of the carrier. This will help with identification if it gets out of the carrier. You should keep a picture in your purse or wallet. You should also place the words, "Live Animal" on the top and the sides of the carrier.

Appropriate Pet Carrier: Make sure you have a durable carrier with handles and proper locking. It should also have good ventilation and the pet should be able stand up, turn around and lie down. Write your home and destination contact information on the carrier. On the inside, lay comfortable bedding such as linen. As well, place ice cubes in the pets dish in the carrier. It will melt during the trip and provide the pet with water without making a mess.

Travel Tips For Germany

By Graham McKenzie

For non European union members you should bring a valid passport to enter Germany. U.S. citizens who wish to visit Germany will be required to show a valid passport as well and in addition a visa will need to be obtained if the stay will last more than 90 days.

Germany of course has a main language of German but you can expect to find many people speaking English along the way. You should consider learning German so that you can ask directions or order off the menu, this will be very necessary in towns or cities that are not used to tourist.

Europe travel means you should pack light. The trains in Germany and all over Europe will not give you much space for luggage, a good rule of thumb is if it fits in the over head compartment of the airplane then the trains will have enough room for your bags. Take only what is necessary.

Germany has a beautiful countryside that you will want to see more of than you will have time for. Make a list of the priority places that you want to visit before you arrive. If you try to see too much or do too many things you could end up exhausting yourself and your trip will not be as enjoyable. Central Germany offers great ski resorts and hiking trails for those who are more athletic and southern Germany is a great place for the history buff that would enjoy one of the many castle tours.

Choosing one are to visit at a time is best for your trip to Germany. You do not want to wear yourself out travelling long distances during your trip.

By staying in one area you will get to familiarize yourself with the locals and become a part of the charming town you are staying in. The vacation will feel more like a visit to home and will have you yearning for your return visit.

If booking your trip through a travel agent you can join some of the tour groups. This is a great way to travel Germany for someone who has never been and may be unable to determine what the hot spots are in the area they are visiting. Someone travelling alone might feel more comfortable in a group tour as well.

When you walk into a restaurant you will find the best table and seat yourself, and do not be surprised if you are charged for the glass of water you order. The waitresses make more in Germany than they do in the states so you can tip a bit less than you are used to. One or two EUR is considered a good tip for good service.

When doing any grocery shopping in Germany you will be greeted with carts locked in with each other that require a deposit for their use, your deposit will be returned when you return the cart. The bags are purchased by the customer and you will also be expected to bag your own groceries. This cuts down on cost of baggers and will save you money in the long run.

Be sure to have your cell phone charged as public phones are rare in Germany. There are spots to log on to the internet and make public calls but these spots are hard to find.

Flower Delivery and Castles in Lithuania

By Kenneth Elliott

Lithuania, the southernmost of the 3 Baltic States, was well known for its wooden castles, built during the Medieval Ages. At one point in that period it was one of the largest if not the largest country in Europe, incorporating parts of present day Belarus, Poland, Russia and Ukraine, under a Grand Duchy.

Referring to the castles, they were built to reflect the preeminence of statue and of war in this region. Lithuanian carpenters specialized in wooden structures as opposed to brick castles. Though a few of the latter were also built, the level of sophistication the workers achieved building the wooden structures ensured their demand in neighboring states as well, evidence lying in the Belarusian word for Carpenter being almost a copy of the original Lithuanian word.

The castles were primarily used by the Lithuanian Dukes as residences who also had forts built around them to repulse aggressive attacks, mostly by the Germans. While most of the wooden castles were destroyed or irreparably damaged or even abandoned over time a number of the forts still remain, numbering around 450.

Around the capital city of Vilnius and New Trakai lie the remains for the brick castles of the medieval times. They were built mostly by German workers. The Island Castle of Trakai was the strongest and most magnificent of all the brick Lithuanian castles, although the largest one was the castle at Medininkai. Other castles like the Voruta castle have even more significance. The castle holds that honor as being the first and only residence of the crowned king of Lithuania. In 1251 during an internal war, Mindaugas used the castle to successfully fight off many soldiers who intended to remove or kill him to get him off of his throne.

The brick castles, which were limited in number and built mostly by German workers, were concentrated around the capital city of Vilnius and Old as well as New Trakai. The Island Castle of Trakai was the strongest and most magnificent of all the Lithuanian castles, although the largest one was the castle at Medininkai. The Voruta castle has its importance in that the first and only crowned king of Lithuania, Mindaugas successfully defended himself during an internal war in 1251.

The castle at Old Trakai now has a Benedictine monastery standing over it, while the castle of Krevo has the distinction of being the place where Duke Kestutis and his son Vytautas were imprisoned. While the former died there, the latter went on to escape and rule successfully. The same castle played host to the signing of the Krevo Act which laid the foundation to the Polish - Lithuanian union, in 1385. A few of the other, more well-known castles were the ones at Vilnius, Birzai, Kaunas, Lida, Grodno, Punia, Palanga, Imbare, Moletai, Miadzel and Novogrudok, the last being the place where Mindaugas coronation took place; however this was subsequently disproved.

With a number of these castles being rebuilt, tourist traffic to these places has gathered pace, especially after Lithuania joined the EU. Prior to the economic slowdown, Lithuania had one of the highest economic growth rates in Europe and has consistently developed its infrastructure. As a result of continuous economic growth there has been a lot of interaction with other countries in the Union and across the world. With new personal as well as business ties being built, sharing of gifts and flowers has also picked up. In this regard, all the major international online florists like Sendflowers.ru and Cityflora.com provide regular delivery services to the major cities of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, and Siauliai.

Rainforest Walk In Garajonay National Park

By Alison Baily

The island of La Gomera, located some 40 miles West of Tenerife is an escapists dream. Unlike its bigger cousin there are no nightclubs or fancy bars but it offers the nature lover a diverse and spectacular landscape to explore.

Shaped like an orange squeezer with deep ravines and about 15 miles wide the island is home to the Garajonay National Park - a World Heritage Site http://reddeparquesnacionales.mma.es/parques/garajonay/index.htm .

The Park is located in the centre of the island which rises to 5000 ft above sea level and consists of Laurisilva - or Laurel rainforest. Much of Europe was once covered by this fauna but over time it was destroyed by climate change and pollution. Garajonay remains one of the few locations in the world where this type of forest still survives.

You have to take a car or bus to reach the summit and once the hairpin bends have been successfully negotiated you are rewarded with a wonderful view of Mount Teide some 40 miles way on Tenerife. The top is often shrouded in a tree hugging mist and as you descend into the forest by foot a tangle of green branches beckons.

The further you go the cooler and darker it gets, but the well flattened track is soft underfoot and easy to follow. Sleepy Hollow springs to mind as the fungus covered laurel reaches out. The contrast to the brown, baked, earth that surrounds this oasis is stark. These paths were created many years ago by locals who had to negotiate the forest in order to get from one side of the island to the other.

A stream is reached after about 60 minutes or so. It is surprising to find running water on such a sun drenched island which does not get much rainfall but the secret of it's source lies in the horizontal rain or mist that envelopes the forest.

After walking for an hour or so a stream is reached. This is derived from the moisture collected from horizontal rain or mist. A little further on the path opens to a settlement which contains a number of small holdings and a restaurant which servers local delicacies such as soup and Gofia (ground maize) to thicken it.

Finally, make your way along a short tarmac road to a hidden tunnel where your guide will present you with a lighted candle which is absolutely required as you traverse from one valley to the next. A truly unforgettable experience.

An Overview of Gay Travel to South Africa

By Howie Holben

South Africa has long been a gay travel destination, even before it became a human rights frontrunner with the abolition of apartheid, having the first constitution in the world that outlaws discrimination based on sexual orientation and becoming the fifth country worldwide to legalize same-sex marriage. Of course, after these landmark events, the interest in traveling to South Africa significantly increased in both the gay and straight communities. Today South Africa is the most accepting and gay-friendly country on the African continent with a growing gay culture that stretches from the pristine beaches of the Western Cape Province to the exciting, fast-paced lifestyle of Gauteng and is an increasingly popular gay vacation destination.

Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria are popular stops during South Africa gay vacations and each offers a variety of gay-friendly and gay-centered activities, establishments and events. Gay men who enjoy the scene will be particularly pleased with the vast array of establishments that cater exclusively to gay men, such as luxury guest houses that provide lodgings exclusively to gay men, the famous bathhouses found in Cape Town and the private, all-male nude bar, Camp David, in Pretoria. Gay culture in South Africa revolves largely around the gay male community; however family travelers and lesbians will also find a plethora of exciting opportunities for gay vacations in this country that is rich in history, culture and beautiful landscapes, including several organized tours that are gay-friendly or cater specifically to the gay and lesbian community.

Gay men and lesbians who prefer a gay vacation centered around gay events may want to consider visiting South Africa in September, which is gay pride month and includes several pride celebrations and events, including the Out in Africa South African Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, which brings more than 16,000 visitors to Cape Town and Johannesburg each year. Or, in December, gay travelers to Cape Town can join more than 10,000 international visitors attending the Mother City Queer Project annual costume party. Cape Town is also home to two beaches that are widely popular among gay men, Cliftons Third Beach and Sandy Bay nudist beach, as well as a gay village with numerous gay-friendly and gay-owned businesses and eateries in Green Point. Local publications serving the gay community, like Outright and Exit, can be picked up at various locations and provide up-to-the-minute information on gay goings on and the best bars and restaurants.

In Cape Town there are many dining options, including Lolas, a gay-owned vegetarian restaurant, and Emilys an award winning fine dining restaurant featuring South African cuisine, a wine bar and a beer bar.

The Many Faces Of Sacramento Airport Transportation

By Antonio Davinci

Landing in an airport does not mean that your traveling is over. You are going to need to find some means of transportation to help you leave the terminal and this will usually come in the form of Sacramento airport transportation. While you are in Sacramento, you will have a number of different types of vehicle transportation made available to you, finding the right type is simply the most important.

The easiest form of transportation from the airport would be a taxi. Usually, after every major flight, taxis are waiting outside of the airport to help passengers get to their destinations. This is the most common form of leaving an airport although it is not always the best choice. You may end up fighting the other passengers for a limited number of taxis and they can usually be pretty crowded.

Shuttles are usually provided by the local hotels. They will often come in the form of vans in a regular schedule, helping to take any guests of theirs to and from the hotel. It can be a very convenient service for you to use, as this shuttle lift will deliver you directly to the lobby of your hotel. The only problem is that you need to be a guest of the hotel to make use of this shuttle.

Renting a car will give you the freedom to explore Sacramento on your own. You can pick a make and model that you admire and have the freedom to navigate your own way around the city according to your own schedule. Yet, when you do this, you will be forced to use your own intuition to find your way in an unfamiliar city using a car which is not your own. It can be very freeing but can also be somewhat stressful.

Many airports will feature a limousine service to anyone looking for transportation. The Sacramento airport transportation of a limousine service could be a great option for someone looking for a way to make their way around. This large automobile will provide room for you and any traveling companions as well as any of your luggage, all with room to spare. The luxury automobile can be rented for any period of time, giving you access to the rest of the city as well.

When figuring out the best type of transportation that you could have during your time to Sacramento, you are going to need to figure out all of your needs and destinations. The freedom to explore the city on your own is an important one and you will want to stay comfortable as well. Anything from a rental car to a limousine service is available, giving you plenty of option when it comes to all of your transportation needs.

Travel Tips for Vacationing with Babies

By Amy Nutt

We all love to take time to get away from the stresses of life to enjoy a vacation. Many people think that if they have a baby or very young children, they can no longer take a vacation. Traveling with babies can be made much easier by planning and implementing measures that will make your vacation fun and relaxing.

A Last Escape Before Baby Makes Three

Vacationing when pregnant, or the babymoon, is a great way to enjoy the remaining time of life as a couple. Many couples decide to book a getaway to celebrate, relax and enjoy their last diaper-free break for a while. The best time to travel while pregnant is during the second trimester, weeks 14 to 27. By then, morning sickness should have abated, energy levels should be higher and you should be feeling "blooming". After that, while Canadian airlines will accept you for travel right up to the final weeks of your pregnancy, there's a good chance that you'll be keener to rest more than travel. Plus, there's a greater chance of premature labor in the final weeks.

When to Go: You'll want heat, but not too much heat, lots of comfort, good food and relaxation. Stick to familiar vacation spots - you'll need to feel confident that the food and environs will suit you. This is no time for surprises. Florida and the Caribbean are favoured destinations for a babymoon, but there are plenty of beautiful spots in our own backyard - Vancouver Island, Toronto and Ontario's West Coast, Quebec City, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia...

What to Wear: Your loosest clothes and lots of layers. Make sure there's plenty of space in your clothing in case junior undergoes a growth spurt. If you're visiting a sun spot take a heavy-duty sunscreen - mom-to-be skin can be extra sensitive. Pack too your favorite snacks and over-the-counter medicine. Don't forget your medical notes - just in case.

Traveling With Babies

Traveling with a baby can help him or her experience new environments and encourages family bonding. The following tips will help you have a better travel experience with your baby.

Location: Make sure you choose an appropriate destination for a baby. Research destinations by using the internet and traveler reviews. Family-orientated travel guides are useful. Babies will not enjoy too much heat or cold.

Enlist Baby Travel Services: There are online baby supply companies who will deliver changing, feeding, and bathing supplies your baby will need while away from home, to any worldwide travel destination. You can shop for all the supplies your baby will need for traveling without leaving your home.

Travel Assistance Insurance: Obtaining travel insurance will ensure that your baby will receive proper medical care in case of an illness or injury. Coverage should include the ability for flights home if treatment is required in the US.

Family Friendly Vacation: There are baby and toddler friendly resorts and hotels that cater to families. Make sure that where you stay has appropriate baby supplies such as a crib and highchair.

Allow Baby to Adjust to New Environment: Maintain a routine with familiar food, toys, and blanket. The baby should not receive too much stimulation within the first couple of days. They should rest and get use to the new environment.

Vacationing with babies can be a fun experience for parents. It is important to remember that it is a vacation, so adults should take time each day to relax. With a little planning and preparation, you and your baby will have a great vacation.

By Deb Schwabe

Beach destinations are great fun, they are filled with fun and excitement and in most instances create lasting memories. When you vacation at Daytona Beach - Florida however, you get "Way More" than just a beach vacation. You get 23 miles for sparkling seas, white sandy beaches and NASCAR!

All budgets are catered for in the different accommodations available. You will also find world-class golf, shopping, beaches, spas, water-sports, angling, fine dining, and even cultural activities.

Together with hot-dogs, hamburgers, fireworks, cotton candy and saltwater taffy, Independence Day weekend activities in Daytona Beach would not be the same without NASCAR racing. At the World Center of Racing in Daytona Beach watching the Saturday night Sprint Cup series is definitely the cherry on the cake of the weekend. This international raceway sets standards for all other raceways of its kind world-wide. Experiencing NASCAR racing at Daytona Beach has to be something you do at least once in a lifetime.

Culture is plentiful too at the Art League of Daytona Beach which holds regularly changed exhibitions of national and local artists. The old winter home of the Rockefellers is a must-see. This tour is also free and the "Casements" has become the museum and cultural center of Ormond Beach. Built by John D Rockefeller, this taste of Daytona Beach history takes place Monday to Friday, and Saturdays too at predetermined times.

A lot of US beaches offer music, festivals and concerts, and Daytona Beach is no different. Picking An Australian City

By Jennifer Schellington

Whilst Sydney and Melbourne seem the obvious choice for many, there are other Australian cities that might be perfect to incorporate into your Australian holiday.

Scratch a little under the surface of our cities and you will find that they are in fact very different. Yes, they may have the same looking sky scrapers and US grid system, but really they are as different as chalk and cheese.

First stop has to be Sydney. It's iconic harbour with the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Rocks is certainly not to be missed. Seeing the area from a boat is THE best way to see it. Take the Ferry to Manly and enjoy the view. There's more to Sydney than just great views though. From boutique shopping in Paddington, to exploring its querky suburbs and of course its beaches, Sydney is a firm favourite for best Australian city.

Whilst Melbourne doesn't have that dramatic harbour, it does have so much to offer. The vibe here is so different from Sydney. It's much more European and Bohemian with its dark and sultry bars and coffee shops. There are still some impressive views, particularly from the river and exploring the lanes that run between the big skyscrapers is fun - you never know what you will discover round the next corner. Some argue the food is better than Sydney. I'm not sure I totally agree but it certainly is cheaper.

Into wine? Then head to Adelaide where you can discover three great wine regions in under an hour from the city centre. The most well known is the Barossa Valley and it's famous for its big reds like Shiraz. If I can give you one piece of advice, it would be to stay in Glenelg which is just outside the city. It's a lovely seaside town with lots going on.

A trip to Perth in Western Australia is a must, particularly if you want to travel the road less traveled. It's much quieter this side but still has stunning scenery and vibrant cities that will delight you. Stay in Fremantle just outside the city as Perth itself can be like a ghost town once the office workers have headed home. Explore the coastline and make sure you visit Cottesloe Beach.

If Aboriginal culture is more your thing then head north to Darwin. It can get very wet and humid up here so come between May and October when the weather is dry and less hot. Explore Kakadu National Park and the Tiwi Islands to see Aboriginal art and history at its best.

If you want to do a road trip as part of your Australian holiday then head East and travel from Sydney to Noosa and go via Brisbane. Here it's just a short trip to the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast but the city itself has some special sites that every traveler will enjoy.

Whichever Australian City you choose, I promise, you won't be disappointed.

Purchasing Flights Is Something That You Should Do Slowly And Definitely Shouldn't Be Rushed.

By Maisie J Matthews

A lot of people will be going on holiday this year and it's usually worth doing some research before you book anything. You could get yourself some great deals on your flights and hotel bookings.

If you don't do your research, it can be hard to find the deals that you need to save money. It's easier to just agree with your travel agent but it's more sensible to do your own research to find out what deals are available.

It can be frustrating though because there are so many websites available that'll have all the latest deals. How do you know which ones are really the best? Well, the idea is to do a little price comparison.

As well as considering the prices of holidays, you'll also need to think about destinations. A lot of people dream of going on holiday but don't quite know where to go. You'll have to read some reviews and look at other people's opinions to find a place that's right for you.

Choosing a destination is usually the easy part. The next step is to find the prices for that area and do your price comparison. It's pretty easy to do this but you may need to spend a while at your PC to find all the best deals available.

As I said earlier, you will need to do some price comparison to make sure that you get yourself the best deals. The easiest way to do this is to head to a few of the online booking websites and find the flights and holiday deal that you want. Make a note of the price and move onto the next site.

Keep doing this until you have a range of prices available. Once you have chosen your destination and had a look at the prices you should be able to come up with a reasonable budget.

Selecting a budget can be hard but what you have just done should give you an idea about the prices of flights to your favourite destination. This will allow you to see the extreme prices as well as the bargain prices so you can budget accordingly.

When you're armed with all the information and you have a budget in mind you can then head to your local travel agent. It's completely normal to head into your travel agent to negotiate. Many people skip this step but it can be worth a huge saving.

A lot of people are too afraid to buy online because of fraud and worries about it not being booked correctly. Negotiating with your travel agent is the only other option you have, but it isn't as hard as you think.

It's normally quite easy to get them to lower their prices to match something else you've found online. Flights are quite cheap at the moment so you should really do some research to find out where the best deals are.

Overall, getting yourself some cheap flights and holiday deals shouldn't be too hard. You will probably find that if you follow these steps you'll save yourself a lot of money.

If a specific hotel has a lot of great reviews then it generally is a good place to stay. You have to understand that most companies out there are going to have some bad reviews, but if there are a lot more good then bad, its usually worth the money.

Making sure that if you need a laundry room, that the hotel has, one, will make you trip easier and much more fun. So get out there and get to booking a hotel today.

Discover an Anglesey Beach for Sunbathing and Water Sports

By David Phillips

Many visitors tell us they have a favourite Anglesey beach which they always try returning to whenever they visit the island. With 125 miles of coastline, this Irish Sea island has some outstanding sandy beaches, many of which regularly win European beach awards for water quality standards. Among them are six European Blue Flags and Resort Seaside Awards as well as Green Coast Beaches and a Blue Flag Marina at Holyhead.

The most popular beaches of Anglesey are not necessarily the easiest to reach, yet the struggle to get there is well worth the effort. Take Llanddona beach on the east coast, a soft sandy expanse which sweeps in a north easterly arc and surrounded by high lush green hills and trees, yet the road is a narrow one and a challenge for the driver. A large quantity of silver coins was recently discovered on this beach, and more may be hidden, while there is a tale of the Witches of Llanddona which has fascinated people over the years.

On the south east, visitors will discover a special Anglesey beach at Llanddwyn which is reached by an exciting walk through a massive conifer forest at Newborough, where a few red squirrels can still be seen. Near the Blue Flag Llanddwyn beach is a rocky outcrop with an old lighthouse and ruins of a Christian church, and this is where Demi Moore filmed some scenes from her film, Half Light. This location is truly magical on a fine sunny day in your swimsuit in summer or your woolly sweater and jeans in winter.

One feature on an island beach are the bright orange life rings placed at certain points to help in an emergency when someone may be in difficulty at sea. It is important that these life rings are not tampered with and please tell the local authority if you notice any damage. After all, in 2008, thirty eight people who got into difficulty off the coast lost their lives.

Church Bay, on the west coast, is a fascinating Anglesey beach as it is surrounded by high cliffs which carry the designated coastal path. The road to the beach is narrow lined with wild flowers and trees and nearby there is the Lobster Pot restaurant specialising in sea food. You can often see kayaks near this bay as they prepare to leave for the Skerries Rock lighthouse offshore.

Holy Island is a smaller island in the south west, reached by two causeways, where you will discover two Blue Flag beaches at Trearddur Bay and Porth Dafarch. There is an interesting Celtic cross at Trearddur laid to commemorate the Millennium. If you are taking dogs remember that these two beaches have a dog free zone, which operates from May to September.

Some top tips for you to maximise your Anglesey beach experience include avoiding going for a swim after a large meal and going out to sea in a large inflatable dinghy, especially if its windy and blowing offshore. Ask a beach warden if you need any advice about anything you are unsure of, and make sure you have enough fluids to prevent dehydration in very hot weather. You will be advised by the Local Authority not to leave pets in parked cars in hot weather.

For some the idea of a pleasant walk along the coastal path and long sandy beaches, watching the sun rise and set, is appealing, while other folk prefer to get into the high tempo adventure of coasteering, diving, sailing, swimming and surfing, to name a few. One thing is sure, whatever you want on fine island, your memory of an Anglesey beach will never be easily forgotten.

Last Minute Deals

By Lucia Morena

Last-minute deals, whether in flight, accommodation, or any package take some compromise and allowances. You can get different airline, different hotel, and different service from your original plan. The price is surely cheaper, but for those who are with different priority that might not mean much. So it is everyones choice. Read below if you are suitable for getting last-minute-deals. Check if you match the characteristics described.

1. An opportunist. Being an opportunist in traveling means you dont mind to go to every available choice. It might be a wild adventure, a culture travel, a religious tour, a romantic night, a shopping city, whatever. You will go as long as you get cheap price or opportunity. You will see many different places and meet new things. You eat everywhere it is cheap, you do every interesting but inexpensive thing, meet and know every friendly people you see, and so many. The chances are widely open. Well, if you are a kind of opportunist (no necessarily a true opportunist), getting a last-minute deal is surely what youre waiting for.

2. A frugal spender. Being a frugal spender can mean you watch the money you spend carefully, you use money wisely, and you try to find the best bargain for almost everything. It doesnt mean you are stingy, but you want to utilize your money in best ways. It is smart, as smart as getting a last-minute deal when it comes to traveling. You would love the deal.

3. A detail planner. If you plan things in detail, schedule every activity during your trip, and dont like surprises, then last-minute deal might not make you interested. The discounted price may require you to change your plan, if there is change in flight schedule and accommodation. Last-minute deal can ruin your perfect vacation, everything else might be messy and you will not feel good about that. Moreover, there is uncertainty since the beginning.

4. A perfect traveler. If you care a lot for quality, service, and comfort, then you might re-think to take lower price offered by last-minute deal. As you hear that there can be differences, you will no longer be curious. You are not cheered by price discount. What you look for is a really comfortable vacation, no matter if it charges more. So there is no use to look at the best deals, they will eventually disappoint your dream.

Greece : Where To Go

By Luke Shorey

This part of our guide to holidays in Greece sees us covering the most popular tourist destinations...

Despite being relatively small, Greece offers numerous places for travelers to visit. While the islands are the most popular tourist destinations, mainland Greece also has much to offer. The country's five top destinations include the mainland cities of Athens and Thessaloniki, and the islands of Crete, Rhodes and Corfu.

Athens, as a result of its antiquity and influence, is full of historical sites, museums and galleries, most of which can be found within a relatively small area surrounding the city centre. It also offers sites of natural beauty in the shape of it's many parks, hills and mountains, which are ideal for those looking to escape the noise and commotion of the sprawling city streets.

Greece's second largest city, Thessaloniki, is famous for restaurants, bars and nightlife. But its past is also of great interest. The area has been continuously settled for about 3000 years and several sites have been placed on UNESCO's World Heritage list. The city's old town has narrow cobbled streets and well preserved historic houses and buildings, including good examples of Turkish architecture. Thessaloniki's attractive waterfront promenade has panoramic views of the bay and nearby landmarks.

Lying off Greece's northwest coast, the island of Corfu has a mild climate, beautiful beaches and many historical sites, making it very popular with tourists. Compared to other Greek islands, Corfu is very green, having more than 2 million olive trees. Mount Pantokrator in the north of the island is more than 1000 meters high and has spectacular views of nearby islands.

Lying far to the south of the mainland, Crete is Europe's southernmost island in Europe and basks in sunshine for much of the year. Being Greece's largest island, it offers plenty of variety. The coast has long sandy beaches, rocky bays and quiet coves, as well as beach bars and sophisticated nightclubs. The interior offers traditional mountain villages and abundant wildlife, forests and flowers. Many of the island's plants are unique to Crete.

The island of Rhodes lies southeast of the Greek mainland and is just off the Turkish coast. Rhodes is considered to be among Greece's most beautiful islands. Its interior consists of hills and low mountains, while the coast is rocky and dotted with small, historic towns and beautiful beaches. Northern Rhodes is known for its lively beach resorts, while the south is more sedate with traditional villages, extensive medieval architecture and archaeological sites.

Backpack Baby Carriers - 3 Important Points To Check Before Buying

By Miranda Xavier

Just because you have a child does not mean that you have to sacrifice your life. A backpack baby carrier is a good way to stay active once you are a parent.

An uncomfortable baby carrier will soon put you off going out at all, so below I have details the three most important aspects to check before you buy a backpack baby carrier.

1. Baby Comfort - Firstly, you dont want your baby to be crying. You want a happy baby who is enjoying the ride. You also want to know that if the baby falls asleep that they will be comfortable and not wake up with a stiff neck and sores from straps which have rubbed.

Tip - There should be good padding all around the baby with plenty of cushioning around the head, so if the baby falls asleep they will still be comfortable.

If you are thinking of carrying a slightly older toddler, then you should check out the foot straps as these secure the babies legs, lower back and pelvis to be in a comfortable position.

2. Adult Comfort - A backpack baby carrier should be comfortable for the adult as well as the baby. If you do not have the correct carrier you will find that you soon suffer with neck, shoulder or back pain.

Tip - The straps around the shoulders and hips should be well padded and wide. They should be easy to adjust when the carrier is being worn. Finally the spine of the carrier should be adjustable.

3. Accessories - To ensure that your child has a safe and fun time it is important to have the correct accessories. The most important accessories are those pertaining to the weather.

Tip - A good carrier should have a suitable cover for wind, rain and sun. Wind burn is as uncomfortable as sun burn, especially on young skin, and rain is bound to cause tears (or howling) as well as lead to possible illness. These covers should attach securely and be easy to put on as the weather conditions change. Ideally the covers will be stored in a purpose designed, easily accessible compartment on the carrier. You should also have room in your carrier for spare clothes for the baby, nappies and snacks.

I became very attached to the mirror which comes with the Bushbaby carrier. This is attached by a tie to a pocket on the waist support and allows you to check on your baby. Sounds totally unnecessary, but it is great to be able to see you baby either sleeping soundly or see them giggling as you enjoy the countryside.

Finally, being a parent is about sharing not sacrificing. You can share the world with them from an early age.

North Stradbroke Island - Straddie at Its Best

By Roger Marks

Affectionately known as Straddie by the locals, North Stradbroke Island is the iconic beach holiday. Just 30 km (19 miles) southeast of Brisbane and the Gold Coast, it languishes at the south end of Moreton Bay. At 30 km (19 mile) long, it is one of the worlds grandest, offering immaculate beaches, a rugged coastline and inland freshwater streams.

It lost its native name of Minijerribah in 1827, when Captain H. J. Rous, or Viscount Dunwich, Commander of the HMS Rainbow, named the island after his father the Earl of Stradbroke, the main town after his own title, and Rainbow Beach after his vessel.

A clump of three picturesque villages - Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout - act as convivial bases for many of the islands local and international visitors.

Dunwich was once a penal colony and quarantine station, and, as is often the case, its cemetery is a telling record of the islands harsh past. At Point Lookout, the aptly named Whale Rock is the perfect spot from which to scan the vast oceans in search of migrating humpback whales, dolphins and turtles.

In the 1960s, sand mining operations began to ruin on the fragile island eco-system, but by the 1990s environmental issues came dominant and half of the island became a national park. Mining is still very active on the island, but mainly away in the restricted southern end.

Point Lookout on the eastern surf side of the island is a natural attraction. Spreading across Straddies single rocky headland it overlooks a set of white beaches. The western side enjoys the calmer waters of the bay and is safer for families. The island is famous for its fishing - with the annual Straddie Classic every August being one of Australias richest and best-known fishing contests.

Travel Expert Questions And Answers Phase I

By Chris Linch

Question 1:

I have been wanting to take a family retreat, but I am on a firm budget, what do you suggest we do to get away, but save money?

Answer 1:

Well there are countless things you can do. Try booking a hotel that has a kitchen in the room so that you can cook there, save money on eating out. You can also go to less classy destinations. Try a theme park like Six Flags or Branson Missouris Silver Dollar City as opposed to the more expensive Disney World. Travel by car, if feasible. Honest, best resolution, rough it and go camping. Take a camping road trip, you can stay in many cities for the price of a tent and a plot fee.

Question 2:

I have been thinking about booking a flight for my retreat, but the prices keep dipping when is the best time to book?

Answer 2:

Normally the greatest time to book flights is prior to Memorial Day, but the good news in 2009 is that you can in reality still save a lot of cash if you book before the end of July. It appears that on or about August 1, we are going to start seeing increases in airfare as customer confidence rises as a result raising fuel prices. Simple answer the sooner the better, prices have bottomed.

Question 3:

There are so many travel sites out there advertising the best deal, but they all seem similar, who is the best to book with?

Answer 3:

The one that offers the low price pledge. Thats right, it doesnt matter, you can book with any of them if they offer low price pledge. Then if you do find a lower rate you can ask them to match it. A word of warning though, watch the fine print. Some only offer this for the first 24 hours. The best I have seen, and the one we offer at our site, will match the rate up until the cancellation deadline. These are the best sites to book with because you can be confident you will get the best rate.

Question 4:

I booked a non refundable reservation, but my plans have changed, how do I cancel it?

Answer 4:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but most properties are very firm on these when it comes to hotels, and airlines have no exceptions. If you are talking about a hotel the best you are going to be able to do is perhaps reschedule. Some hotels will let you move the dates, very few will reimburse. As for airlines, you are going to be out their change fee, but you get a credit for the amount of the flight minus the change fee for future travel. If you want my advice, change your plans back.

Travel Tips For Denmark

By Graham McKenzie

As the smallest of the Scandinavian countries, Denmark is made up of the Jutland peninsula and more than 400 islands. A peaceful land, it's not easy to imagine this country was the home of the vicious, seafaring Vikings.

Tourists will find a variety of delights to explore in Denmark. With its scenic villages, castles, ring forts, and monuments, sandy beaches, coves and fjords, Denmark is a place of striking beauty. The best time to visit is August, although anytime April through October, there is nice weather.

Denmark's capital, Copenhagen, is located on the islands of Zealand and Amager. Known as the city of copper roofs and spires, Copenhagen was founded in 1167. With its beloved Little Mermaid at the harbor entrance, this cobblestoned city is filled with old buildings, parks, gardens, fountains and squares. You will also find the world famous amusement park, Tivoli. It is open from late April to mid-September. In addition, tourists will enjoy many superlative eateries and shopping opportunities. There is even an inexpensive train network to help visitors get around the city.

Organized tours of the city consist of the Vikingland Tour, which takes you to the Viking Ship Museum, and the Royal Tour to the Christianborg Palace, to name just a few. There are also tours to the famous Carlsberg brewery.

As fascinating as Copenhagen is, Denmark does offer many delights beyond its capital. There is the biggest Viking burial ground, as well as the most extensive Renaissance buildings in Denmark, both located at Aalborg. In addition, Arhus has a collection of over sixty 17th and 18th century buildings, taken from all over the country and recreated, then set on a beautiful landscaped site.

The 'Garden of Denmark', Funen, is another must-see on any itinerary. Here visitors will find some of Denmark's most delightful countryside, not to mention castles, churches and manors, all set in ancient parks and gardens. Odense, which is the main city of Funen, was named after the Norse god Oden. It is the third largest city in Denmark and has often been called the 'Capital of Fairytales'. It is also the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875), and every July and August, Odense has a festival to celebrate his works. Visitors can tour his childhood home and the Hans Christian Andersen Museum. Another recent attraction in Funen is the Naturama. Opened in 2005, it offers tourists three levels of multimedia, natural history displays.

Visiting the Knuthenborg Park at Lolland is well worth the trip. It is Denmark's largest park, with well over 500 species of trees, flowers and plants, not to mention the fact that there is also a safari park. Visitors that stop at Bornholm will find the largest castle ruin in Denmark, Hammershus, which was built in 1260. Elsinore is another favorite stop. The old fortress of Kronborg is located here. Not only is it the most arresting structure in Scandinavia, but Shakespeare's Hamlet was set here.

Good Ideas For Vacationing In The Poconos With Your Family And Children.

By Arthur Maluki Stiegel

The beautiful Poconos Mountains in Pennsylvania have always been a favorite resort hotel and vacation destination for people looking for an affordable short getaway. And why not? The Poconos are easy to get to from most places in the northeastern United States. They are conveniently located just several hours from both New York City and Washington D.C.. This area offers beautiful scenery, a host of outdoor activities and sufficient things for younger vacationers to do.

There are a number of business owners throughout the Poconos area that offer a range of activities that kids of different ages should have fun doing. You'll find adventurous things like horseback riding, cross country skiing, hiking, biking, swimming and camping. If you look hard enough, just about any outdoor activity that you could think of is offered some place in the Poconos mountains.

Like other parts of the nation this area has a number of resorts that cater specifically to families. They are a nice place for parents who need someone else to entertain the kids for a while. If you look, you'll find some that offer some kind of scheduled events for kids.

One gem of these fun places is the Great Wolf Lodge. This place has an abundance of water based things for the children. They have a bunch of fun things like water slides, the lazy river, a wave pool and even a roller coaster of water. Every dad sooner or later learns that children love the water parks.

One favorite among the winter traveler is the Woodloch resort. This place, which sits on 100 acres of forest covered land, features lakeside fun in the sunny months, including a popular splash park for younger guests. In the cold months, the resort features everything from snow tubing to ice skating to downhill skiing.

Even after families leave their resorts, they can find numerous other activities in the Poconos area designed for kids. There are simply too many to pick from.

Do you try learning about local history when you travel? If you do, the Eckley Mining Village is one of the favorite and more popular tourist stops in the region. It is a living history museum that gives you a sense of what the lifestyles were like at the time when Pennsylvania residents relied on the strip mining pits to fuel their local economy. The mining village has some hands on things for guests to do.

Another wonderful stop should be the Pocono Indian Museum. This is the only museum in northeastern Pennsylvania dedicated to presenting the actual history of the Delaware Indian. The museum traces the history of the Delaware Indians through displays of ancient artifacts, weapons and tools.

Some aspects of the museum can be surprising. The Pocono Indian Museum does not shy away from the tragic interaction of the Delaware Indians with European settlers. In fact, it took just 100 years or so for the settlers to eliminate almost all traces of the Delaware Indians existence.

Travelers who live anywhere nearby and who are looking for a relatively cheap getaway should consider visiting the Poconos mountains this summer. A trip here is always a refreshing experience. Vacationers can both learn about the great history of the Pennsylvania area and take advantage of some of the most precious and picturesque outdoor settings in the nation. This region really is an American gem.

Get Over To Outer Banks At Your Earliest Chance

By Deb Schwabe

The Outer Banks is a spectacular two hundred mile chain of islands off the coast of North Carolina. While the inland scenery of the state is definitely lovely, these islands have a particularly special appeal about them.

These islands have a charm all of their own and it would not be surprising for someone to forget that they are on the coast of the world's biggest economy and one of the most populous countries. This is definitely an ideal place to visit if you want to get away from it all and are looking to meet some friendly people who will make you feel right at home.

The islands are ideal for a family holiday or a romantic get away for two, with a host of activities that will suit the type of holiday that you are planning. There really is a great range of different activities to choose from.

The islands are well known for the light houses that adorn their coast lines. There are five main ones to visit and some tour guides specialize in taking visitors to all of these sites. They are able to give one the history of the light house and also explain the manner in which it is used today. The fact that these are still being used actively today, in spite of technological advances, is testimony to the feeling that one is stuck in a time gone past.

Those with more of an active lifestyle will be thrilled to find that there is a host of activities to choose from. Outdoor activities include angling, which is another key feature of the islands. You could also choose to charter a boat for a fishing trip around the islands. Sports such as surfing, sailing and others are all on offer.

The variety continues with the fact that visitors can also enjoy a rich arts experience. Summer concerts are put on every week with philharmonic orchestras and popular bands there to entertain. In addition to this, art lovers will be thrilled to hear that there are several galleries that one is able to visit. For those who view cooking as an art form, you can improve your skills with a cooking class that are on offer.

Visitors will be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding on what to do with one's holidays. The above mentioned are only but a few of those available. The Outer Banks will provide the ideal destination for a summer holiday and the fact that one is relatively close to home means that the expense will be a lot less as well.

Greece : Travel Guide

By Samuel Allan

This part of our guide to holidays in Greece sees us covering the basic information that travellers there need to know...

Greece is located in Southern Europe and has extensive coastlines and islands in the Aegean, Ionian, and Mediterranean Seas. It offers a myriad of experiences, landscapes and activities and is famous for its beaches, reliable sunny summer weather, nightlife, historical sites and natural beauty.

It is one of the world's top 20 tourist destinations. This southern European country attracts more than 15 million visitors a year, 90% of which come from other parts of Europe (but increasingly, the proportion of visitors from other regions of the world has been growing).

The most popular destinations include the capital, Athens, and the islands, especially Crete, Rhodes and Corfu. Some areas are very tourist orientated, but people seeking a quieter experience can still find places free from mass tourism.

The great bulk of visitors arrive in the tourism season, which runs from April through October and peaks in July and August. In the off-season, the bulk of Greece's tourist infrastructure becomes dormant, particularly on the islands.

The majority of scheduled international flights go via Athens and Thessalonki. But in the tourism season, charter and low-budget flights flying from numerous European cities arrive daily at a range of popular island destinations and smaller mainland cities.

A valid passport is necessary to enter Greece. Citizens of some non-EU countries may also need to obtain a visa, but citizens of the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand can stay as long as 90 days without needing a visa.

The country's rates of theft and violence against visitors are relatively low and travelers are neither required nor advised to have immunization vaccinations prior to entering Greece.

Montpelier Excursions: Enjoy Presidential History In Orange, Virginia

By Jane Leisteiner

If you are a history buff, Virginia is a perfect destination. It is the birthplace of dozens of prominent Americans, most notably eight U.S. presidents. While many of these wonderful homes can be visited, few offer the multitude of activities that you will find at Montpelier, the home of James and Dolley Madison.

Set in the Virginia countryside, a few minutes from the historic town of Orange, Montpelier is the perfect spot to brush up on your American history. The staff at this living museum offers a full slate of unique activities throughout the year. Recently, they have teamed with several local inns and restaurants to create Montpelier Excursions. These all-inclusive packages combine gourmet dining, the romance of a country inn and the excitement of exploring the home of one of the nation's founding fathers.

The first step for travelers is to select one of several Montpelier Excursions. The Heart of Montpelier excursion is a three-day, two-night adventure featuring a full day, comprehensive, behind-the-scenes tour of Montpelier that includes an architectural mansion tour as well as visits to the on-site archaeology lab. On your second day, you'll enjoy a tour of the Landmark Forest and gardens at Montpelier. In addition to the activities at Montpelier, the package includes two overnight stays at a local inn, complete with breakfast, as well as certificates good for dinner at several fine, local restaurants.

There are several other three-day, two-night packages. The Montpelier Wine Weekend includes lodging, gourmet dinners, comprehensive tours of Montpelier and tastings at several renowned local wineries. The Montpelier History Excursions, which can be reserved for either a weekday or weekend stay, include a two-day admission to Montpelier so you can explore to your heart's content.

For those with a bit more time, the unique Dig in Style package might be just the ticket. This six-day, five-night package includes lodging and meals, as well as a special dinner with Montpelier's Director of Archaeology. During the day, guests actually get to participate in archaeological digs currently in action at Montpelier. There is no end to the treasures you might uncover.

There are several excellent local inns participating in the Montpelier Excursions program. The Holladay House, however, is an ideal lodging choice for those who wish to soak up even more history. Dating back to Madison's time, this historic inn shares some similar architectural features as Montpelier, including its front doors. It is located just five minutes from Montpelier right in the center of Orange's historic commercial district.

The innkeepers have decorated their inn with both history and romance in mind. Luxurious linens and fluffy robes are among the amenities, and several rooms boast a fireplace or whirlpool tub. One special room recently has been refurbished and named in honor of James Madison's great-nephew, John Madison Chapman, owner of the house and himself a prominent citizen. The room includes a fireplace with a beautiful mantel original to the home, as well as a luxurious cherry, four-poster bed. During his time as owner of the house, he also planted the rare English Oak tree that is still in the backyard. It came from a seedling from the Montpelier plantation.

Get your Property in Perdido Key Florida

By Chris Linch

If I was going to buy a condo somewhere in this country it would be Perdido Key Florida. There are a few reasons. Number one is that there are exceptionally few hotels in the area, so you can rent them out. The view on the coast is just stunning over the Gulf of Mexico. You are close to both Alabama and Florida and even Mississippi.

I previously traveled to this area for the Mullet Toss. It is a beach event where people throw a fish from Florida to the Alabama line. It was a incredible beach party, with a lot of things to do. The thing I love about this area is that it is so laid-back. You can go everywhere in just a bathing suit, or a t shirt. You dont need to be all fancied up to go out to eat.

If you are looking to travel to this area you are going to rent a condo. There plainly are no hotels in this city that I am aware of. Everything there is vacation rentals. This is not a unpleasant thing, because you can in fact get a nice place right on the beach with a balcony for less than you can get a hotel room.

There are many property managers that run the condos, so if you are looking for an asset this is a great place to invest. You can by a condo, and then take a vacation to it for a few weeks a few times a year. Then the other 48+ weeks you can lease it out like a hotel room by hiring one of these property management firms.

The only competition you have is other condo owners. This allows you to travel free, and you can actually depreciate the cost of the condo over time since it is an investment property.

There are some tips though if you can invest and you are just traveling to the area. Most of the hotel websites that rent hotels, also rent condos in the area just like hotel rooms. You can save a lot of money by simply getting a condo this way.

Simply visit a discount hotel site and search for Perdido Key Florida and book yourself in one of those beach front condos. Keep in mind they are STILL rebuilding from the mutilation of Hurricane Ivan. It is still just a beautiful place to stay.

Top Ideas For A French Theme Party

By Damian Jackson

If you're in the mood for throwing insults at your friends, family and neighbors, as well as being generally arrogant, then why not throw a French theme party? This is also your rare opportunity to indulge in other French stereotypes (of which there are many).

A French theme party is also your chance to eat cheese on French loaf, drink fine wine and listen to some very bad music. For some awesome French theme party ideas, see below:

The best part of a French theme party is the costumes. Guys; think black and white horizontal stripy tops, French berets, little beards, thin moustache and an onion necklace. Try and go a week or two without showering or shaving before the party.

For the ladies, you can dress similar if you wish, it will be very funny. Though you really should shower. You can go for a French maid or Marie Antoinette look for an alternative.

For decorations, get plenty of red, white and blue balloons to represent the 3 colors of the French tricolor. Also get a large French flag to hang on the wall. Set up a photo area in front of the flag so your guests can have their photos taken.

Get some wooden tables and chairs and plenty of fresh flowers. Try to make your venue look like a French cafe (think of the film Amalie). Get some models of the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysees.

To make your party more memorable, you could consider hiring a mime artist or a French artist to draw pictures of your guests.

For food, you can have plenty of French hors d'oeuvres or you can concentrate on making it a wine and cheese party. Either way, consider hiring a French chef or a wine expert to make food or talk about fine wine.

Holidays In Greece : What Is The Climate Like?

By Ben Coles

This part of our guide to holidays in Greece covers the climate of the country...

Greece has a typical Mediterranean climate - it usually has long warm, dry summers and short, mild but wet winters.

But despite the country's relatively small size, there are regional variations; Greece's northern mountains, southern islands and central mainland having slightly different climates.

From April until November, all over Greece is hot and dry and enjoys near-constant sunshine. Sporadic rains do occur during the dry season, but they tend to be rare, quick showers. The most pleasant weather occurs in May-June and September-October, with the warmest time of the year being from mid-July and to mid-August. Temperatures average at around 35 degrees during this period and heatwaves can occur. If visiting at this time of year, it's advisable to try and stay out of the sun from 11am-4pm when the suns rays are at their strongest.

Once the dry season is over, the rains begin. This cool, wet period usually starts in November and lasts until late March or early April. Most of the rain falls from December to April, when it rains on roughly one in every three days. In northern Greece, the winters are wetter and colder than in other parts of the country. Flooding can occur and snowfalls are not uncommon.

Summer is Greece's peak tourist season, but the off-season from November through February has its attractions. Visitors from cooler climates can find this a rewarding time to see the country, especially its driest parts - the southern Aegean and parts of the southeastern mainland. Sun isn't guaranteed, but the fall in temperatures will be mirrored by drops in prices and crowds.

Main Attractions of New York City

By Amy Nutt

For many people, New York is like the most important or fun place to be. Because of its metropolitan nature, New York is where most suburban dwellers want to go visiting. Besides this, it is also a hub of business activities as you have the famed Wall Street located there, and the twin towers. Recent estimates have shown that New York generates more than some third world countries budget per year. It also has the highest number of skyscrapers concentrated in one territory.

Often dubbed an 'urban jungle', it is home to more than 20 million people and amazingly, the metropolitan state seems to have more room for visitors, business executives, vacationers and tourists. New York City has a lot of attractions. In fact, it is said that you could spend three years in New York doing nothing except sightseeing and still not see every vacation spot or attraction sites. Some of New Yorks main attractions are partly responsible for its global popularity and these include:

1. Statue of Liberty This statue represents or symbolizes democracy in the modern world. According to history, the statue signified hope for the immigrants who crossed through Ellis Island. A gift from the French government over a hundred years ago, it was meant to signify freedom which America stands for. Sculpted by the Frdric-Auguste Bartholdi, the steel Framework was built by the creator of the Eiffel tower, Gustav Eiffel and is about 305 ft altogether. To get to the top of the statue, a visitor would have to climb three hundred and fifty four steps. Tourists interested in getting into the monument can purchase one time tickets.

2. Empire State Building The empire state building is possibly the most popular building in New York. Once called the tallest building in the world -it is about one thousand, two hundred and fifty feet high -and named the 8th wonder of the world, many say it signifies or represents what was meant to be carried out when man decided to build the tower of Babel. The empire state building became extremely popular after the movie King Kong was shot in 1933. At the time, it was dubbed the tallest building. However, the mystery surrounding it still counts for visits from over two million visitors annually.

3. Central Park This major tourist centre occupies three hundred and forty one hectares of land is synonymous with its name in its location at the centre of Manhattan. Located between 5th and 8th avenue, central park consists of ice rinks for those who want to skate, theatres, baseball fields, fountains, lakes, a Zoo, a museum, tennis courts and a host of facilities. And the best part of central park is access to it is free of charge. A must see as part of a New York City vacation package.

4. Fifth Avenue For those who love shopping, 5th Ave is an awesome place to be. Located between the 49th and 59th streets, its like a concentration of designer stores such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Ferragamo, Prada and Versace. If you are looking for jewelleries, you will find Bulgari shops, Cartier and a host of other jewellers.

Have you considered a Holiday in Majorca?

By Jennifer Davis

With so many islands like Ibiza offering great family deals for holidays its easy to see how Majorca can be overlooked. Yet when you get there you immediately see that despite not having the same party island reputation as some of the others, Majorca is a beautiful island that offers at least the same kind of holiday opportunities as they do. Before you go on your holiday you should check how you will get from the airport to your chosen Majorca hotel.

Having solved the transfer issue, youre ready for a great holiday at a beautiful destination. Majorca (also known as Mallorca), has a varied range of activities, from the restful historically steeped fishing towns of Porto Cristo, and Porto Pollensia, to the high octane nightlife of Magaluf or El Arenal. There is something for everyone.

If youre taking young children on holiday then Majorca is a perfect destination. There are resorts all over the island which allow you to enjoy the experience of holidaying abroad without the need to find public transport to transfer you, the kids, and all the stuff a family with young children needs for a day on the beach to the nearest sands. Youll be able to find a Majorca hotel that will put you in a great location so you can easily return to your hotel room, or Majorca apartment throughout the day. Some of these hotels have entertainment and clubs especially for kids so youll get an occasional break from the sand castle building.

For accommodation theres a good variety of hotels in Majorca. Whether youve got a large budget for your Majorca hotels, or a small one the choice of hotels in Majorca is wide. If youve got a special kind of Majorca hotel in mind however you should try and book up as far in advance as possible. For example, hotels in Majorca that are almost on the beach, and especially those that have an ocean view, will get booked up quickly. The other option to a hotel room is booking a Majorca apartment. Whether you want a small apartment for just yourself and your partner, or a larger one to share, there are many apartments in Majorca to choose from. As with the hotels in Majorca however, the best situated apartments, and those with the best prices, will book up fast so dont leave it until the last minute.

The resorts incorporate not only hotels, but also shops and attractions that are located nearby so that you can experience all the fun of holidaying on the island but without having to go very far. Many of these are located close to a beach so that everything you could need is close at hand.

El Arenal is the key young persons nightclub spot, but is also great for families wanting a bit of excitement and for those perpetual teens that still enjoy the bustle of night-time activity. It is especially favoured by continental 18-30s. During the summer, the nightclubs stay open till dawn allowing you to leave the club just in time to grab the best place on the beach to soak in the sun and you snooze off the booze!

Whatever your age, and whatever youre looking for in a holiday, Majorca is a great destination. Its a place you can visit as a 18-30s single person to enjoy the night and beach life, then again with your family once youre more settled down, and later as an older person more interested in golf than grooving the night away!

Sheraton City Center Review St. Louis

By Chris Linch

The Sheraton City Center is located downtown in St. Louis, MO. It is a fantastic location for a hotel. The hotel also features an enormous pool as well as a sun deck where you can hang out on the top floor and go outside. The staff is incredibly friendly and they also have a bar and some restaurants.

First of all, the location. You couldn't find a better place to stay if you are wanting to stay down town St. Louis. This hotel is close to Union Station, which is an old rail station made into a shopping center. They have the Hard Rock Caf there as well as Landry's seafood. You are also within walking distance of Busch Stadium. If you are the gambling type the casino has a shuttle that will pick you up at the hotel.

The pool in this hotel is like none I have ever seen. They have an Olympic size pool on the 13th floor. This pool is huge. They also have a hot tub there. It is the largest indoor pool I have seen in a hotel in a long time, and I stay in a lot of hotels.

The sun deck is an outside deck that has a view of downtown. It is also located on the 13th floor just outside the indoor pool. We sat up here and had a few drinks. It was such a relaxing area to go have a drink. We got to meet some really neat people out there while we were there.

The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Honestly for the price I figured this would be a run of the mill, nicer hotel. This was not the case. I felt like I was in a 5 star hotel in Las Vegas. They treated you very well, and on top of that they were very knowledgeable about the area.

The Sheraton City center also has a bar that is open until one in the morning which is also unusual. Most hotel bars close very early. This was also a very nice bar, they had couches and nice tables. They also served food there which was excellent.

There is also a coffee shop and a bistro type sandwich shop if you are on the run. The coffee shop serves Starbuck's coffee. They also have some breakfast items and fruit which I did not get. There is plenty of room in this hotel for a wedding and or wedding reception.

If you need to stay downtown St. Louis Missouri I recommend the Sheraton City Center.

If you are Planning to Fly do it Now

By Chris Linch

After numerous months of sliding airfare many people decided just to hold off booking. There are quite a few indicators, nonetheless, that show that the prices of airline tickets may have bottomed and are back on the climb. Recently fare comparison sites have reported hikes from ten to twenty dollars.

Since July 4 is has past fuel prices are again increasing as a result of enlarged demand. Also since the economy is showing less signs of waning people are starting to gain confidence which also drives prices.

The fact is if you have been on the fence about booking airline tickets because you have been wondering if the prices would continue to go lower, it looks like it is time to move ahead. If you do not book soon, it is possible to see sizeable price increases in airfares.

As of right now the fares have not increased in a means that would not still make it a steal of a bargain to get an airline ticket. The point of this note is to let you know that it is possible that right now is the cheapest time you can book a flight.

We are still seeing exceptionally low rates on hotels. The fact is that many hotel chains have cut prices to raise occupancy. Now is the time to book a trip, not looking for the cheapest rate, but the best bargain. Find a nice hotel that you could never stay in, and you can book it for what you would normally spend on your alternate property.

Usually the best time to book travel is by Memorial day, but at this time because of the economy we have had a bit of an extension to this timeframe. The extension is up, however, in our opinion, and if you dont book now, you may pay more or forgo your trip.

Why Should You Consider Last Minute Travel Deals?

By Christelle Eithan

If you are a frequent flier, you must know that airfare you pay represents a big cost. There are special offers at times, but the seats are limited and there are usually date range for booking and flight schedule. If you haven't made a fix plan, surely this will not make any use. Sometimes there are special offers or programs from your phone card, credit card, or other membership. They are good ways to get a cheaper ticket, if you have any and the flight schedule is matched.

Well, there is now a popular way to get low-priced ticket. That is by buying tickets sold at last minutes before their scheduled departure. In last minutes, airlines companies and travel agencies are unlikely to find potential customers to buy their vacant seats. Therefore, lowering the ticket price is the only solution they have. Lower price will make it easier to find buyers, included you. Last-minute deals are haven for cheap ticket prices, though you might have sudden change in flight schedule you have planed before. So don't you try looking for them? Here are some things you have to consider about last-minute ticket.

1. You might not get the same luxurious as you would in normal ticket price. This usually due to class difference. But remember, you also pay cheaper for the flight. Just see if the differences are fair.

2. You might not get one at your scheduled time. So it is important that you have other booking for reserve. Unless you are not in hurry and flight date is not a problem.

3. Some last-minute ticket might have different airport destination, though the city or destination is the same. They might be a ticket for a lesser-known airport and you would need to take further transportation. Check the detail information before you take it. Otherwise, prepare how you will get to your destination from a different airport.

4. Be prepared for some allowances. The ticket was not originally what you had wanted for. The details wont be the same. You might find different comfort and, again, luxury. You can compare in advanced to the amount you'll save.

5. Set your standard however. Flying by last-minute ticket doesn't mean you can not complain. You still have the right of a passenger to get the standard service. If you feel like you get different treatment or the service is bad, don't doubt to complain.

Disney World Rental House:More Space, Better Value, Great Choice!

By Nancy Bobby

Choosing accommodations is often the first consideration when planning a Disney World vacation. There are many options, ranging from the Disney resort properties, to a number of great off-site hotels near Walt Disney World. But more and more, families are renting vacation homes. For a number of reasons, a Disney World rental house just might be the best option for your family.

To start, there is just more space in a vacation home than in a hotel room, and what's not to love about having the ability to spread out a bit on vacation? Plus, if you have a large or extended family that typically requires you to have multiple hotel rooms, you will find this to be a cost savings, as vacation homes typically sleep anywhere from 4 to 16 people. More space, less or the same money, means a greater value!

Having access to a full kitchen with all sorts of cooking accessories is one of the more popular benefits of a vacation home. Most homes come equipped with every possible sort of appliance, dishes, utensils, cookware and more.

It is a great cost-saver to be able to easily make your own meals and snacks. By doing some of your own food preparation, and eating in, you will find that you have a greatly reduced meal budget. Just compare to what it would be if you ate all meals at the theme parks!

Often overlooked is the fact that you may have in your rental property, multiple entertainment options at no additional cost. Many vacation homes have in-house home theaters, game rooms, private pools, video games and may even have access to community centers with fitness and other recreation activities.

A very nice benefit of a vacation home is the ability to have a bit of privacy. It is not unusual for rental homes to be located in gated communities that afford the vacationer the feeling of actually "getting away from it all". This is truly a delightful and unexpected opportunity on a Disney vacation!

There are many types of vacation rental homes within close proximity to Walt Disney World, from condos to large, multi-family houses. No matter the size, they come fully furnished, with multiple bathrooms and bedrooms, which is a nice benefit on a family vacation! Typically, linens will be provided, in addition to paper products and other basic essentials.

Increasingly, many folks on a Disney vacation are discovering that a rental home is a great choice. With additional space, and a host of amenities, vacation homes provide a great value. If you are looking to plan an affordable Disney vacation for your family, be sure to consider a Disney World rental house.

The Proper Way To Rent A Car When You Travel

By Chris Linch

The primary thing I have to say about renting a car is make certain it is worth it. Some cities renting a car is of no value. You might not be able to drive, and if you can drive you might pay so much for parking each place you go that it would be worth it to pay a cab that doesnt have to park.

Take Las Vegas for example, unless you are traveling out to the Grand Canyon or something, there is no point in renting a car in Vegas. You can take a taxi about everywhere or walk. Plus they have the tram that will take you all over the strip, or the double decker busses that take you from the Strip to Down Town.

If you are going to rent a car try not to do it at an airport. This is where you will pay the most money for them. See if someone will pick you up at the airport if you rent a car from them. Most places will and it will save you money. Some are even right across the street from the airport and half the cost.

Find out if there is public transportation available before you spend a bunch on a rental car. A lot of tourist cities will have transit accessible to tourists that is much cheaper than renting your own car. Remember it is not just the price of the car we are looking at, but how much will you need to pay to park it each place you go.

Even if you do rent a car, you dont really want to drive it everywhere. If you have to pay 12 dollars to park somewhere, and a cab ride is only 5, you will still want to take a cab even though you have a car.

Check on your auto insurance as well. Most of the time your policy will encompass you in a rental car, and most credit cards cover rental cars as well. I never buy the insurance for car rentals I think that is one of the principal rip offs there are. Your auto policy will also protect you in a rental car, for the most part, just check with your insurance agent.

When you travel make sure you are making an allowance for all costs when renting a hotel or a rental car so that you do not spend more than you have to. You can usually rent cars cheaper the same place you book cheap hotels.

The Tourist Attractions That Shape England's History

By Markus Lampshade

Throughout England and Britain there are many attractions that are rich in historical wonder and that make Britain one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

Many of these attractions are located in the capital city of London, but there are plenty outside London as well, in fact, pretty much every county or city in England has a rich and full history, complete with landmarks.

Wiltshire for instance is home to one of the most instantly recognisable stone monuments in the world, Stonehenge. The origins of this famous prehistoric site are fairly clouded, but it is suspected to be around five and a half thousand years old and it is reckoned that it was originally a burial ground.

The overall creation of this monument is thought to have been spread over a long period of time (between 1500 and 6500 years!) and the stones themselves are thought to have travelled a long way before reaching their destination in Wiltshire.

There have been several attempts at carrying stones of a similar along the same route that the builders of Stonehenge took, but it seems that we in the modern day are not as suited to carrying weights of several tons across rivers and ditches as people once were, as every attempt has failed so far.

Another part of England's history is the famous tale of Robin Hood. In the city of Nottingham where his deeds are said to have taken place, you can visit his statue near the castle in the city centre and visit Sherwood forest, his supposed hideout. It hasn't been proven whether the tales of Robin Hood are based on fact, or are entirely fictional, but there are certainly many historical references to him in various pieces of literacy, some dating back as far as the 13th century.

Another place that boasts considerable historical relevance in Britain is the birth town of William Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon. Situated on the river Avon, not only is this town the birthplace of arguably the greatest playwright in history, but it is a beautifully picturesque town with stunning scenery to take in wherever you go. Along with the fact that you can take a tour round the house that was the birthplace of Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon is somewhere you must visit.

Of course, what is a trip without a great place to stay? You can find some of the world's finest hotels in England, located across the country, you won't be far from some top quality accommodation wherever you plan to go.

Javea Once Brought Economic Growth to Spain

By Rob Carlton

Affordable holiday fun in the Costa Blanca Sun and fun in the Mediterranean Sea is synonymous to the Costa Blanca, the Spanish coastal area. The Costa Blanca is considered the property of the Province of Alicante, beginning with the town of Denia and winding up in Pilar de la Horadada or Torrevieja, as the last significant town in the province.

The coastline from here becomes more picturesque than ever and if you are driving, you'll want to keep your camera at hand. It's considered inside the district of Valencia. Examining some of these incredible vacation spots more discreetly, each villa is considered to be someone's favorite, as it has something extraordinary that will tickle your fancy!

For those visitors to Costa Blanca with rental cars highway A7 links Javea throughout Europe with exit ramps at Ondara and Benissa. The latter is located near the milestone mountain peak Montgo. Javea is found on the east Iberian Peninsula about 90 km from Alicante and a little over 100 km from Valencia City. These two cities in Spain each have international metropolitan airports that make your journey very easy.

Javea has an abundant wealthy, natural landscape. It also possesses wonderfully tended coastlines with white seashores, some of these are, Javea, Altea, Guardamar, and Torrevieja. In addition are a number of monuments to a heritage that has afforded Javea all of its interesting societal and time-honored celebrated visitor sites.

Bullfighting in the Streets You may have always thought expensive tickets were the only way to find a great seat within a bullring, yet in the summertime, it is popular in Javea to drive the bulls into the streets. Eighteen-year-old young men make all the plans for this long-established show. They block off streets and created a dead end street that becomes a makeshift round up. The idea behind this spectacle is for the men to demonstrate how brave they are, since they have become of age. Sometimes at night, pieces of cloths soaked in oil are fastened onto the bulls' horns. Then set afire. It all looks prehistoric, does it not? Once again, it seems that the men again are trying to resist these valiant bulls.

The Raisin Market Transcendental in Javea's past was the summertime when the greater part of the locals would go to their country villa homes near the town center and harvest grapes. Gathering grapes is a lengthily and demanding process, as they utilize only part of the muscatel grapes characteristic for producing raisins. The grapes, having been cut, are transported to a series of scolding bins and a boiling water and salt, which cracks the grape skin so that it will dry quicker. Javea once brought economic growth to Spain as an international exporter of raisins. Now, in the market however, countless manufactured goods including raisins flow from Alicante.

Cheapest Hotels in Atlanta Georgia

By Chris Linch

Finding a superior rate in Atlanta Georgia on a hotel is not a tough task. You can constantly find a really cheap hotel in the city. The only point you want to pay notice to is where you are staying. You don't need to end up staying in a part of town in which you will not be comfortable.

In this article I have paid no consideration to location, I am just going to share the top 5 cheap hotels that fall within the city limits of Atlanta. You will want to shop through these hotels to make sure they are in an area you want to stay. I also propose you book in advance, and book with a site that has numerous hotel chains. The odds of you being moved to a different hotel, if one doesn't meet your standards, are higher if you book with a hotel discounter instead of directly through a hotel.

The principal 5 cheap hotels in Atlanta are:

Hometown Inn starts at just $30 nightly.

Microtel Inn Galleria starts at $32 nightly

Days Inn/Jimmy Carter Blvd. starts at $34 nightly.

Masters Inn Marietta starts at $34 nightly.

The unsurpassed way to save money is to book at a site which offers a low price guarantee. This means that before your trip if you find a lower price the site will match the price or refund your money so you can book the lesser rate. Most hotel chains do not offer this quality because they in fact sell their rooms at wholesale to suppliers and hence would always be undercut.

Booking in advance is the best way to save funds because as the hotel gets more reservations they will jack up prices. You need to make a decision when you are going to go and then get your trip booked, you can make changes afterward on most reservations, but you will be subject to the elevated rates since it is closer to the time of your trip.

Holidays In Greece : Getting Around The Country

By Steve Stone

In this part of our guide to holidays in Greece we focus on how you can get around the country...

Consider hiring a car or moped in Greece - all you will need is a passport and an internationally recognized driving license. This is a cost-effective option that will give you the freedom to travel wherever you wish. Prices start at roughly $15 a day for a moped and $40 a day for a car, but be careful to ensure that the price you agree to includes all taxes and insurance. While most roads are in good condition, take extra care driving on the islands or in the countryside as some rural roads can be badly maintained and narrow.

Greece's bus system is very efficient and can take you anywhere on the Greek mainland. The 'KTEL' (intercity) buses are excellent value for money and let you see parts of Greece that you would otherwise never get to visit. However, the system wasn't designed for tourists, so you may have some language problems, but if this happens the majority of young Greeks speak some English and most would happily to assist you.

Taxis are readily available and reasonably priced, and by law every cab must have a meter. Tipping isn't customary, but continuing to pick up passengers until the taxi is full is a local custom. So you can flag cab that already has passengers as long as they are going in the same direction that you want to travel. On the islands and in the cities, most - but not all - drivers will speak some English.

Getting to the islands requires either a boat ride or a short flight. For islands further away, you can fly to them (many islands have airports) from Athens or Thessaloniki; the distances within Greece are small, so even the furthest destination is less than an hour flight.

Ferries are the best option for islands near the mainland. These boats run regularly throughout the day, but trips may be more leisurely than you expect as the ferries can making stop at several islands before reaching their final destination.

Guide To Madrid : Plaza Mayor In Madrid

By Mike Taylor

The Plaza Mayor draws millions of tourists every year and is one of Madrid's most famous attractions.

It may not be a piece of architectural art, but the Plaza Mayor is a great place to experience the friendly atmosphere of Madrid. Being popular with tourists and Spanish citizens alike, it is an excellent place to get to know other citizens of Madrid and interact with them.

The Plaza Mayor is centuries old but took its current shape in 1790 after a fire. In a literal sense, it has functioned as an area for the public by having bullfights, festivals, political clashes and even be-headings. To make your adventure into this piece of Madrid's locale more exciting, a little history lesson before arriving would be well worth it.

Not large by some standards, it is nearly square at about 100m on each side, but it can hold nearly 50,000 spectators at a time. One will often find it crowded, considerably so in the summertime. There are still many festivals held at the Plaza Mayor during the year, making it a good place to visit if you want to experience true Spanish culture.

Restaurants, cafes, and bars are abound if you want to sit down and have lunch or dinner, or if you just want to relax with a drink for a while. Not to mention all of the traditional Spanish foods which can be found at a reasonable price. Also, you will find many shops to visit in which you can purchases mementos for your visit.

There are many convenient spots in the buildings lining the square where you can get a birds-eye view of events taking place in the Plaza below. These spots are most definitely worth the time and effort to reach, as you will be able to get above and away from the chaos and stress of being present in a large crowd, thus enabling you to have a better chance at watching the events taking place below.

Havana's Most Charming Square.

By J. M. Maurette

To go sightseeing in Havana means also visiting the Plaza de la Catedral, a virtuous place with cobbled streets, full of beauty and senses, a place where thousands of people from all over the world get together each month, as tourist guides recall it.

In earlier times it was named Plaza de la Cinaga (Swamp Square), and later on "Plaza de la Catedral", it is a place that has much to do with the beginning of Havana, founded on the 16th Century in the proximities of Havana's harbour.

This square was named after a large Cathedral that was built in the 18th Century in the lands previously occupied by a Jesuit Order. Many restorations took place until this oratory became what today is one of the most impressive baroque buildings in Havana.

As an additional touch, since 1994, as an initiative of the tourist company Habaguanex S.A., its square holds dinners, official gatherings and for amusement too (chosen by important enterprises and agencies), related to travel and emblematic products such as the Habanos. The view is marvellous, to a very well preserved architecture, the cultural richness of the Cuban and the food-making in the restaurants in the surroundings.

Just few seconds walk you can find La Bodeguita del Medio, restaurant that together with El Floridita have become the most famous and emblematic restaurants not only in Cuba but also around the world. The specialty of the restaurant is the Cuban cuisine and its walls are engraved with autographs of numerous famous celebrities such as Ernest Hemingway, Mario Benedetti, Pablo Neruda or Errol Flyn and so many others.

The list of celebrities is long, including cinema artists, painters, politicians, dancers and musicians, both foreign and Cuban, where this country's national poet Nicols Guilln (deceased) had his space too.

During day time the square becomes crowded with visitors who come to experience the splendour of its walls. The music, the cocktails and specially the characters that can be found here make it a unique place in Havana. You will find an old lady that reads the cards, the one that poses with a huge cigar and the ones that dance all the time even when there is no music playing.

These places are almost sacred for a demanding tourist who is able to take pictures with his/her camera to take home after a truly amusing holidays. A Cuban feast for the senses. An environment to meditate and live. A perfect place for some leisure and dreaming.

The best way to save money is to book at a site which offers a low price assurance. This means that prior to your trip if you find a lower price the site will match the price or refund your money so you can book the lesser rate. Most hotel chains do not offer this characteristic because they essentially sell their rooms at wholesale to suppliers and therefore would always be undercut.

Booking in advance is the best way to save money because as the hotel gets more reservations they will jack up prices. You need to settle on when you are going to go and then get your trip booked, you can make changes later on most reservations, but you will be subject to the elevated rates since it is closer to the time of your trip.

Pursuing a Career in Hotel Management

By Amy Nutt

Are you thinking of becoming a hotel manager? Would you like to know what it takes to become an outstanding hotelier? Would you like to own your own chain of hotels someday? Are you worried about the prospects available in the hospitality industry? Would you like to manage a number of people in hotels and resort centres? Then you should spend more time on studying courses in Hotel management. The hotel and vacation industry is full of prospects with spaces for newcomers and will always be as people will consistently go on vacation, summer breaks, travel and attend conferences outside their places of residence. For many of these people, it is important that they get a place to stay when they get to such places. And except they have people to stay with, they often have to stay in hotels.

Hotel management involves taking care of guests, ensuring their comfort, making their stay an unforgettable one, and managing a group of people (if the establishment is big). A hotel manager supervises the activities and processes of all staff working with him. He makes sure that the hotel makes more profits than losses. He manages all publicity geared towards increasing the exposure of the hotel and makes sure that all the necessary machineries are fully functional and running smoothly for efficient operation.

Unlike in the past, hotels are increasingly becoming more sophisticated. More luxury hotels are using databases to manage their clientele, and book rooms. Thus creating an avenue for the services increased specialisation in different fields. Unlike the past where computers weren't considered important and the services of computer experts weren't required, hotels are beginning to increasingly hire database managers and computer specialists. Bottom line, the demand for professionals in hotel management is high and the remuneration is competitive as most hotel managers earn between $30,000 and $90,000 a year.

To become a hotel management professional, you would need a diploma and bachelor degree in hotel management. Graduates of this course get the DHM and BHM on completion of their studies. This takes between 18 months and 36 months. Before students are given admission into schools they have to write an admissions test -oral and written- and interviews. Interested individuals may also take up certificate courses in hotel management to boost their CV. If after the Bachelor degree, you feel like proceeding for further education, you can apply for a postgraduate diploma or masters in hotel management offered by the many institutions available.

Hotel management professionals have a lot of opportunity as they can secure jobs in different restaurants, hotels and resort centers in any part of the world. Mostly, those who opt for the postgraduate programs can become lecturers or consultants in the field. Besides working in the hospitality sector, hotel managers can work in hospital canteens overseeing the staff and managing the establishments for profit. Hotel managers, who are entrepreneurial in nature, can set up their own establishments and become self employed.

In conclusion, the hotel management career is both dynamic and versatile. There are no limitations whatsoever in the field and practitioners stand to benefit a lot.

New York City Hotels The Top Five Cheap Ones

By Chris Linch

This in fact is a complicated article to compose. The reason is you can stay several places in New York City. To state here are the cheapest hotels in New York City actually doesn't mean much. It really depends on where you would like to stay. You might want to stay by Central Park. You might also want to stay in the Financial District, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, etc. New York City is huge, and the funny thing is there really is no such thing as a "New York City."

What you ask? That is right, while all of us travel agents present rates to New York City, seek to find it on a Map. There is no New York City it is essentially a bunch of small cities lumped as one called New York City.

Anyhow to get back on track and give you what you want reading this article, these are the cheap hotels in New York City. These could be all over the city, in part one of this article I am only giving you the cheap hotels in the city. The other parts I will break it out depending on where you would like to stay. Keep an eye out for those versions soon.

West Side Inn Hotel and Hostel starts at only $23

Economy Lodge Newark is as low as $60

Days Inn Newark starts as low as $67

Ramada East Orange rates are as low as $70

Days Inn starts at about $70

I always urge that you book your travel as far in advance as you can. Most sites will let you amend your reservation if needed. If you know that you are going for sure then you can easily book a non refundable rate and save some additional money.

Be very sensible in New York about saving money. Some hotels have joint bathrooms which means more than 1 room or even an entire floor shares a bathroom. A great number of hotels in New York are dormitory style, especially hostels. New York is not a upright place to go if you are on such a budget that you need cheap hotels. This is the number one cause of customer unhappiness on hotel and travel agent websites. So be forewarned, if you don't ask and just tell them to book you a cheap room, you are going to get a cheap room.

Christmas Underwear - 3 Tips to Help You Choose the Perfect Present

By Miranda Xavier

Christmas is a stressful time for most of us. Not only do we have to deal with friends and family who we don't choose to see, but we also have all the stresses of buying presents.

If you are looking for truly personal gift, nothing beats Christmas underwear. Equally, getting it wrong can make the receiver of the gift feel pretty awful. There is nothing worse than getting a present which you are too big to fit into, so check your sizes before you even go near a shop.

Unfortunately there are many other pitfall, apart from getting the wrong size. Below are three tips to help your present be a success.

1. Make it special - If you want a present to be a success it has to be a little bit better than what someone would buy for themselves. To give you an extreme example, a multiple item pack of anything is unacceptable. Special is not just about the price tag - it is knowing that thought and effort went into the choice of gift.

2. Don't go over the top - However much you may want to spice up the choice, you want the wearer to feel comfortable so don't get too carried away and choose something which they will find acceptable.

This is a present, so think about the receiver - choose something to suit their personality as well as their figure. After all this is a present for them and not for you.

3. You may not be an expert - you may think you know what you want to buy, but if in doubt - ask. If you have any doubts then ask and reduce your chances of making mistakes. Shop staff will always be pleased to help.

Finally, remember that Christmas is a time of giving, but it is much more fun if you get the giving right. Get the perfect present and you can guarantee a great response.

How Much Would You Risk to Look Beautiful?

By Ross Tilley

The current recession has hit a number of different industries and affected millions in adverse ways that most never imagined. Now it has reared its ugly head in the world of cosmetic surgery. Citizens of the UK are being enticed into cosmetic procedures by "Plastic Surgery Package Holidays", trips to foreign nations where medical procedures are done for a fraction of the price charged here at home.

It's not difficult to see why either. Combining a holiday to Europe or Asia with the chance to get bigger breasts, a flatter tummy or a younger face seems like a deal, especially when the difference in price can run into the hundreds, but many UK surgeons and governing health organisations are concerned that you don't get what you don't pay for.

BAAPS, otherwise known as the British Associate of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, have been at the forefront of an awareness campaign aiming to make sure UK men and woman understand the potential risks of going under the knife whilst on holiday. BAAPS highlighted how woman's magazines were a prime marketing channel for these foreign surgeries, and that they often have UK-based representation to reassure and push through the sale.

BAAPS aims to make sure everyone is armed with enough knowledge to make educated decisions on their plastic surgery, and to make sure people understand the function and necessity of a governing body for specific healthcare sectors. Cosmetic surgery, although now much safer than it's ever been, will never be 100% free from the chance of complication, but travelling to countries where it is ungoverned may certainly increase that risk.

At the extreme end of the scale, Brits wanting to save a significant amount on their tummy tuck or breast enlargement surgery may be tempted to venture even further afield, where there is no guarantee of the latest developments in safe technology or procedures.

With an impressive 650,000,000 pounds spent on plastic surgery last year by Britons, the promise of looking good and feeling great has the potential to outweigh sensible research on cosmetic surgery, and the pressures of the economic recessions only add to this understandable desire to save on the price.

Understanding the message that BAAPS wants to communicate is essential if Brits are the reduce the risk them expose themselves to when looking for beauty. A lot of countries will be governed by similar organisations designed to regulate the standards of surgeons, and this can only be a good thing.

In times of financial uncertainty, it's only natural that people should seek ways to feel good. Cosmetic surgery can make people look and feel fantastic, and even change people's lives for some. The question is, is the risk of a potentially unsafe environment abroad really worth risking your health for?
