Gringo Guide to Speaking Spanish - Instantly Know What To Say!

By Dr Jay Polmar

My story: I had a challenge. I needed to move to Mexico for my health and retire, and I spoke English, a few words of French from high school, about 12 words of Spanish which could wind me up in fight or jail, yeah - mostly cuss words.

I was in trouble and when I arrived I needed help. Luckily I met Reuben Varela, a well known Restaurant owner from Lake Chapala, and Gerardo Tolentino, an English teacher from San Juan Cosala.

Reuben pushed me to find ways of studying and practicing Spanish, and Gerardo help me create the Gringo Guide. I was the gringo -- and I definitely had to have a guide to get me through the experience of living here in Mexico.

We searched the internet, and books on Spanish, and listened to conversations in the English speaking sections of restaurants in Ajijic and San Miguel de Allende where most of the gringos hang out and we figured out what was needed.

We talked to them and asked them what they needed, and we listened to what they asked of the waiters, restaurant owners, etc. Later, then Gerardo accompanied me to doctors and we went to travel through Mexico.

By the time we were finished, so was the book and we had part of it recorded so that pronunciation would be no problem for anyone to learn. The book was finished and put up on our site, www.speedread.org

Now, everyone I know who visits Mexico, Spanish or anywhere else in Latin America - can speak like a expat that lives in Mexico. It's that easy.

The electronic pdf will fit on pocket devices to help you communicate on the spot with electronic support. So, when someone says: Que quieres tomar?

So, when someone says: Que quieres tomar? You'll immediately know the answer -- una marguarita, por favor. Or, una coca, limonada, cerveza, or whatever you want!Fulfill all your needs to communicate in Spanish for Spain, Mexico or Latin America?

The book comes with a full guide, by sections to learn, use, and get answers to all your questions. It's guaranteed to make your vacation -- fantastic.

The best time to buy airline tickets is about 3 weeks before you plan to leave.Be sure to keep tabs on the up to date websites which feature the hottest travel deals.

Another way to hear some hot travel deals is to sign up for free newsletters,of course if those travel companies are offering them.

If you're driving more than a few hundred miles, you may want to consider a rental if your vehicle is a gas guzzler. The rental may be a cheaper option.

A good idea is to check the internet for websites that update gas prices, and keep a list of the least expensive gas stations before you go on a road trip.Gas is a huge factor when it comes to your vacation budget.

Which Havana Hotel To Choose?

By Jose Garces

This is quite a frequent question I get from travelers interested in staying in Havana so I thought why not to publish my recommendations on the best hotels in Havana.

In this article I am going to focus on the hotels located in the Old Town area or Havana Vieja which is the way everybody in Havana knows it. One thing that makes the hotels in this part of Havana different from the rest is the fact that very few of them were originally built to be hotels. Each of them has a very unique architecture style and some of them date back 200 years ago.

I have to start with Santa Isabel Hotel, located in the very heart of Habana Vieja right next to the place where the city was founded. Originally built for the governor of Cuba more than 200 years ago; this building is one of the most representative examples of the Spanish-Moorish colonial architecture.

Saratoga Hotel is probably one of the few hotels in Havana that deserve a 5 star category. From the roof top swimming pool you can admire the splendor of the Old Town while relaxing on a sun bed. This hotel has 96 rooms divided in suites, junior suites and deluxe patio rooms.

NH Parque Central is another 5 star hotel in the old town that I like to recommend particularly for its high standard of service and excellent food. This hotel is also located in Paseo del Prado Promenade and it was erected over the ruins of a collapsed building about 10 years ago.

There are lots of boutique hotels in Havana such as Florida, Ambos Mundos, Ofarril, Raquel Hotel, Condes de Villanueva, Palacio San Miguel, Santander Hotel, Hotel Prado Ameno and the list goes on but this are in my modest opinion the best 4 star hotels in Old Havana.

I am going to leave now hoping to help you make up your mind and decide which hotel is better for you. You can find detailed information at www.quest2cuba.co.uk

Tradition and History Come Alive at Bowmore

By Rachel Wilson

If you are a Scotch Whisky enthusiast, planning to visit Scotland in the near future, Islay could be just the place for you.. Islay (pronounced eye-la) is the Hebridean island home to eight whisky distilleries producing some of the most sought after single malt whiskies in the world, the industry providing an important source of income to the island along with farming and fishing.

It is not difficult to find excellent accommodation on Islay and at Bowmore distillery they even have their own holiday cottages where you can stay and enjoy a complementary tour of the distillery and sample their excellent single malt whisky. There are 130 miles of beautiful coastline, around which seven of the distilleries are sited. The inhabitants number approximately 3500 and there is a strong community spirit. There are a number of festivals throughout the year including the festival of Malt and Music in May, which celebrates the rich heritage in Whisky production on Islay.

The first record of whisky making in Scotland goes back to 1494 and is thought to have been started by Irish monks. Many of the distilleries started out as farms where home stills were used to produce grain spirit. The process of distilling began after the harvest and continued until late April This cycle has continued down the centuries, and even today many of the distilleries are closed in August for the 'silent season'.

Bowmore Distillery in the town of Bowmore on the shores of Loch Indaal is the oldest on Islay and one of the oldest in Scotland; established in 1779 by David Simpson a local merchant and pioneer who built the distillery, produced the whisky and introduced Islay whisky to the world. Bowmore Distillery has changed hands four times in the last 200 years but traditional methods of production are still used and handed down by word of mouth.

Single malt whiskies have a wide diversity of flavour and taste, and no two are identical even if the distilleries that produce them are side by side. The individual character of each whisky is determined by fermentation time, style of stills and operation, type of condensers used and the amount of spirit saved known as cut. Peat, barley, water and wood strongly influence the flavour of the whisky produced at Bowmore, which is known for its warm smoky character with peaty, toffee flavours and some floral scents with a trace of linseed oil.

The quality of Islay whisky is strongly influenced by the sea spray that sweeps across the island with the winter gales, and sinks through the heather into the peat. Bowmore distillery takes its water from the pure source of the Laggan River which flows down from the mountains carrying with it the rich flavours and colouring from the peat as it goes.

Bowmore is one of only a few distilleries to still produce their own floor malted barley in the traditional way. The island peat is also used in the malting process which further adds to the quality and flavour. The barley which is sourced from the east of Scotland is turned by hand by the maltman using a wooden shovel.

At Bowmore Distillery traditional methods are used by a very experienced team, most of whom have worked at the distillery for many years. Demand for Bowmore single malt whisky is high and it is exported to forty countries around the world. A bottle of Black Bowmore, distilled in 1897 was recently sold at auction for 1400. The whisky if left to mature in the famous Bowmore vaults where the damp cellars are below sea level, keeping them at a constant temperature the year round, stored in casks of Spanish and American Oak which adds to the rich mellow flavours of the maturing whisky. The workforce take great pride in the single malt whisky they produce and their constant efforts make Bowmore a world class dram.

Look Good In Swimwear

By David Wittlinger

Ladies swimwear comes in different styles, colors and types and there are several things to consider when selecting your suit. Styles that match current trends are often better than suits with a retro look. Some women can pull it off, but a vintage looking fashion choice can often go horribly wrong. It is important that the cut of the swimwear looks good on you without looking too unnatural or uncomfortable. Putting some thought into the type of swimwear you are looking for before you start shopping is important.

When looking for ladies swimwear you should try to focus on the various styles that are popular right now. This doesn't mean that you have to spend a large sum of money on designer swimwear, but it means that the suit you choose should be current.

It is possible to buy a suit that is timeless and will hold up for a few years, without looking or feeling like it has become outdated. Brands that are durable enough to last you a few years are what you want to consider when shopping for your swimwear.

What type of suit you should get to look the most attractive is the biggest dilemma most women face. Two pieces or one piece ladies swimwear is always a question asked by the women that have the figure to carry off either choice. Whether you want to show your belly or not is the question because both styles have plenty of fashionable styles to choose from.

When it comes to ladies swimwear, often the biggest step towards looking good is answering the question of what particular cut or suit type is best for your figure. If you have a flat figure, and comfortable with your mid-section, you'll probably look best in a bikini. However, a lot of women opt for a one piece when modesty is at issue.

It is always important to focus on which type of suit is ultimately going to look best on you. For ladies who are bigger around the middle, a two piece is probably not the best cut to choose. However, ladies with flatter bellies can look just as stunning in a one piece swimsuit as they can in a bikini.

When it comes to swimwear clothing like bikinis or one pieces, it is often most important to pre-determine which design and appearance you're striving for before you begin to shop. Picture yourself at the beach or pool, how you would look in a particular suit, and how you imagine you'll be seen.

Men should try to find swimwear that fits their physique as well, although their choices are often more limited than women's styles. This can arguably make it easier for men to come to a swimwear decision. Most men tend to choose baggy, long shorts or board shorts, since these are the most commonly accepted. The trend these days dictates that you'll see more men wearing these styles of suits at most beaches and pools this summer.

As with anything, it's important for you to focus on feeling good about the swimwear clothing you have chosen so that you will feel comfortable and not self conscious while at the beach or pool. Choosing swimwear that fits your body type properly will allow you to focus on the things you are there for, like having fun, enjoying the waves and basking in the sunshine.

Costa Rica Attractions

By Victor C. Krumm

Costa Rica is a small Central American country bordering the countries of Nicaragua and Panama. It is often considered to be a tropical paradise. In 1502, Christopher Columbus landed along its Caribbean coast and was so mesmerized he named the place 'Costa Rica', the 'Rich Coast'. The name stuck.

Costa Rica is a stable democracy and, along with Switzerland, only one of two countries in the world without a military. With two international airports and an ever-growing tourism infrastructure, it is a great place to visit. There are many things to do and see and the country is particularly famous for its flora and fauna.

Costa Rica tourism is struggling due to the world's economic problems. Still, a challenge always presents an opportunity and today is no exception. Now may be exactly the time to travel to Costa Rica. Airfares are down and you will find some great travel and accommodation bargains. To check out a few, simply Google 'visitcostarica.com/crplus' to go to the Costa Rica government's official Institute of Tourism (ICT) website that has discount coupons but lots and lots of other hotels and resorts are offering special prices right now.

Costa Rica is particularly famous for its wildlife. Did you know that tiny Costa Rica, only about the size of little West Virginia, has more species of butterflies than in all of the countries on the African continent combined? There are nearly as many different kinds of birds in Costa Rica as in the entire continental United States (and only about 100 fewer species than the entire continent of Europe). The diversity is simply staggering. Nearly one of every five species of plant and animal on the face of the planet is found in tiny, tiny Costa Rica! You are going to find fascinating tropical rainforests or spectacular cloudforests and beautiful rugged coastlines along two tropical oceans. And, as small as it is, Costa Rica has set aside nearly 25% of the country for protected national park and wildlife sanctuaries.

Perhaps you would like to see a volcano. There are over 100 in this little country but only a handful are active. Arenal Volcano is the most active and with some frequency erupts with spectacular shows. Hot springs resorts have popped up nearby and lots of folks sit in the warm waters, tropical drinks in hand, and marvel at the nearby volcano. Just minutes away is Lake Arenal, Costa Rica's largest lake, famed for its great freshwater fishing and world-class windsurfing. Or, just outside San Jose, nearby the international airport, nestled in the cloudforest, is Poas Volcano with the second largest volcanic crater on the planet. My advice is to visit this place early in the morning (before the clouds come in) and on a weekday (because it is packed with Costa Ricans on the weekend). And, by all means, drive to the top of mighty Irazu early in the morning. Only a few miles from San Jose, it is like no place else you'll ever go. Why? Because, on a clear day, you can stand on an active volcano and see the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans at the same time! I love the romance of this place because, just a few months before he was killed, JFK flew into Costa Rica and was greeted with a spectacular eruptive salute. Two greats in awe of one another!

Then there are the Seven Wonders of Costa Rica, selected by Costa Ricans themselves: mighty Arenal Volcano and spectacular Poas Volcano. Little visited Monteverde Cloudforest Reserve with its great plant and animal diversity---including the only butterfly in the world that makes a noise! Halfway to the Galapagos is magnificent Cocos Island, called the "most beautiful island in the world" by Jacques Cousteau, a famous pirate hiding place with huge fortunes buried but never found, and the best large animal diving on the planet. Mount Chirripo is the tallest mountain in Central America and as you climb from its tropical base to its summit, you may think you are in the Andes with its cold glacial lakes. Or, take a pleasant hike to Rio Celeste (Celestial River) where the river magically changes from crystal clear to sky-blue in front of your eyes. Finally, there is remote Tortuguero National Park, with mile after mile of seemingly deserted beaches---until the wondrous sea turtles invade by the tens of thousands to nest.

No visit to the country would be complete without spending some time at the stunning beaches. Indeed, many tourists spend most of their vacation at the beach. Among the most beautiful in the world, you will find many different types of beaches in Costa Rica: black sand beaches, white sand beaches, coral sand beaches, even boulder strewn rugged beaches. Most of the most popular resorts and fancy hotels are located on the Pacific coast but you will find that the Caribbean coast also has no shortage of beautiful places to go too. The Pacific coast is more-and-more Americanized while the Caribbean has a unique, distinctive, Caribbean aura---and is clearly Bob Marley country.

If you crave more than great mountains, tropical forests, 7 Wonders, miles of spectacular beaches, and volcanoes, here is a little more to do and attractions to see during the days: 1. Fish. Great marlin (I recently landed a 450 pounder before releasing it), 100-200 pound tarpon, sailfish, snook, and many more. 2. Bring your surfboard and surf world famous beaches or watch world-championship surfing contests. Or rent your board. 3. Kayak in extreme whitewater or raft in waters that will take your away your breath. Or take the kids for a leisurely raft on a tropical river. 4. Golf on great courses.5. Windsurf at wonderful Lake Arenal. 6. Bungee jump (for fools only) into deep canyons or at night. 7. Ecotour. 8. Zipline and Tarzan jump through tropical forests. 9. Become a bullfighter (but beware that only the bullfighters are allowed to be harmed---fortunately you can buy insurance). 10. Go horseback riding in the mountains and along the beaches. 11. Hang-glide. 12. Rappel waterfalls and canyons. 13. Take a train ride in a genuine Swiss train to a genuine Swiss mountain hotel and dine at a restaurant that rotates completely around to magnificent vistas. 14. Visit Corcovado National Park, the most biologically intense place on earth. 15. Scuba dive. Or snorkel. 16. Watch the whales in the world's longest whale-watching season. 17. Tour coffee plantations and visit tropical gardens. 18. Hike, bike, rent motorcycles, ATVs. 18. Walk into the crater of an active volcano. 19. Visit a wildlife park filled with birds or another park with African animals. 20. Take a photography adventure tour. 21. Become a volunteer and take a volunteer vacation. And a lot more!

The capital is definitely worth a visit too. At night, San Jose and most of the beach communities provide lots of adult entertainment. Restaurants, theatres, cinemas, bars, nightclubs (many, very adult in tone and tenor), gambling, and beautiful women---what happens here, stays here. And for lesbians and gays, there are an increasing number of places to go and things to do as well.

The Great City Of London And It's Attractions

By Olive Jillian Carter

The city of London is home to some of the world's biggest tourist attractions and once you're there, it's hard to know where to begin because there're so many things to see and do. To make sure that you leave London having done and seen everything the city has to offer, there are plenty of sites that you must see.

The London Eye is among the first attractions to spring to mind, and one of the most recent additions to London's back-catalogue of spectacles. It was opened up to the public in 1999 and faced criticism from sceptics, but then went on to become one of the world's biggest tourist attractions.

Re-designed and re-built by Sir Christopher Wren in 1668, St. Paul's Cathedral is another of London's must see attractions. It is a breathtakingly beautiful building which is recognised today as one of Britain's most iconic buildings.

Arguably the attraction with the most gruesome history, the Tower of London has been a prison and place of execution for London's people in the past. It was built by William the Conqueror originally, to try and keep London's rowdy rabble under wraps.

For the artistic types, there is of course, the Tate Modern. The modern art capital of the country and home to works from such esteemed modernists as Picasso, Matisse, Dali and perhaps most notably of all, Andy Warhol.

Possibly more famous than any other London attraction, Buckingham Palace is not only the official residence of the Queen of England, but it's one of the most clearly recognisable buildings on Earth. Home to breathtaking works of art and open to guided tours, though not an official art gallery.

The Natural History Museum is the last sight that I will list here, but it is by no means the last to be seen. It was as somewhere to put all natural history items that the British Museum had (it was nearly over-flowing with them) and over time became the great museum we know it as today. It is a wonderfully spectacular building designed by Alfred Waterhouse in 1880-1881.

I couldn't possibly describe all of London's attractions here, but to take in London in it's entirety, it will definately take more than one day. Therefore, to complete your trip to London, the perfect hotel is the icing on the cake. There are hundreds of truly great hotels in London, and to choose which one os right for you and your group, it's simply a matter of finding a website that has a full list of them, and browsing to your heart's content.

A Guide To Island Hopping Around Tenerife

By Tom Baily

When you mention Island hopping the Canary Islands doesn't spring to mind but for those visiting the archipeligo this year there are opportunities to use Tenerife as a jumping off point to the other islands in the area.

Those travellers heading off to Tenerife this summer may like to consider an alternative to the resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas. From Tenerife South airport you can be at the port of Los Cristianos in 30 minutes and from here there are ferries operating to the nearby islands of La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma.

Naviera Armas (www.navieraarmas.com) operates large car ferries to La Gomera, El Hierro or La Palma.

Fred Olsen (www.fredolsen.es/PublicSite/FredOlsenExpress) recently took over the route to La Gomera and operates daily connections between Valle Gran Rey, Puerto Santiago, San Sebastian and Los Cristianos at a subsidised cost to locals. It also runs a high speed Catamaran service to La Palma using larger vessels which takes about 2hrs and stops off at La Gomera (San Sebastian).

Alternatively, if you take a cheap bus ride from the airport to Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the north of the island (60 minutes) you can hop on a Naviera Armas ferry to Gran Canaria, Fuertoventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, El Hierro or even Madiera and Portugal. Fred Olsen runs a catamaran service to Gran Canaria from this port.

Island hopping is a great way to experience the diversity of the Canary Islands, from the hedonistic resorts of south Tenerife, the prehistoric sub tropical rainforests of La Gomera, the spectacular Cumbre Vieja on La Palma or the moon landscapes of Lanzarote.

Another bonus when you island hop around the Canaries is the magnificent scenery. Tenerife's Mount Tiede rises to 16,000ft above sea level and is often snow capped in winter - take your camera! Keep your eyes open for schools of dolphins which are plentyful in the seas around this area and you may even be lucky enough to spot a pod of Pilot whales.

For those amoungst you who suffer from the dreaded sea-sickness there is another way to explore the islands. Binter Canarias (www.bintercanarias.com) operate inter-island flights and in minutes you can hop from one island to the next.

Ah heavenly

By Mike Dosei

To escape from the reality of what we knew, we took a vacation to look for what was once lost - the scene of the coast rapidly approached - The Sunshine Coast.

Looking back at my youth, of all the years that passed since I was on the coast are gone and the time that was spent with family and friends, the memories were no match for what I could see before my eyes. In respect to the beautiful round glow in the sky, the pristine sandy beaches, and the people of all ages and interests that are enjoying the coast. Within the years that were spent on the coast, they all seem to be the distant memories until we go back.

One summer vacation my family, my brother included, took our vacation at Noosa that year. The time spent their seems to be long ago... but once I shut my eyes I can see each and every detail of what was once the place we stayed The Noosa.

Going underwater, at the Underwater World to see all the fish and sea life with the little ones was an exciting time. Maddy, was one of the seals, and we indeed received a big wet kiss from her each year. As my daughter, "squeeled", with extreme pleasure, not because of the animals but due to how close we were to them. We remembered to capture a picture, of this pleased event, at an extra cost, I might add, but after the glimpse of her face, which was priceless, it was definitely a keeper!

My brother and I were able to surpass everybody and sneak onto the regional golf course, not only to play once, but twice! The greens are so pristine and lavish that we were able to play with ease. I guess this wouldn't be sneaking when we opted to go back for a second time. Some of the things that you do with your siblings are so out of character

The boutiques were my wife and sister-in-law's place to meander... along the local shops downtown purchasing souvenirs for our family back home.

Our stay at Sunshine Coast was an enchanting experience especially because we were able to stay at the Sheraton Noosa. There is one rare find here, it is the beach area; it is the north beach, it is protected by the headland which in turn makes it great for surfing and swimming.

The Sheraton Noosa also had amenities that everyone could enjoy from spa treatments to the pool. The spa treatments of course, were loved by the ladies. The kids enjoyed watching the dolphins from the shores of the beach as well as swimming in the shallow waters of the ocean. When it came to the huge pool, which we spent many hours enjoying, we thought our children were going to sprout gills.

With a drink in hand, the sunset was enjoyed at the Noosa River, which was the way most evenings ended on the Sunshine Coast.

So to sum it up: sunshine golf seals & dolphins shopping surfing spa

With the wind in the distance, the diminishing rays of sun, and the essence of suntan lotion, I think for the first time I can honestly say that everyone enjoyed themselves immensely, which is not an easy task for my family.

If you havent been in a while... it is time... head to the Sunshine Coast and remember what a vacation is!

Uncommon And Common Father's Day Gift Ideas

By Kathy Jik

It is officially summer time when Father's Day gets here. What present will you get your dad this year? I put together a number of various ideas to help you decide on something special for dad. This Father's Day will be a nice one.

A new gas grill - Man invented the gas grill so that he could stand around outside of the house with his buddies and drink. What would NFL football Sundays be like without the gas grill. What would tailgate parties be like without the portable stove. The grill has allowed man to create thousands of new meals whose sole intention is to pair well with a good lager.

You could always resort to getting him a Worlds Greatest Dad cap. These are more meaningful when coming from a child who is on the verge of being a full grown adult. If it comes from a young child then he'll know that mom is the one who really picked it out. It actually doesn't matter though. Every father needs a little pat on the back.

How about a new fillet knife or something else related to fishing. If dad likes to fish, there are numerous options open to you. Any guy will enjoy getting some new tools to add to his fishing tackle arsenal.

For guys, a decent gift would be an assortment of beer or some booze. Don't get him the bottom shelf stuff. Getting your father the bottom shelf stuff would be insulting. Stick to the kind of liquor you would see on the top shelf at a classy restaurant. Look for names like Chivas Regal or Makers Mark.

It is great to make some alone time with your father once in a while so you can talk about private matters that the two of you have in common. Check to see if you can locate any shows that will be happening in your area in the near future that the two of you could attend together. It could be a special bonding moment for the two of you.

Have you shopped at either Home Depot or Lowe's yet? You are bound to find something decent for him there if you do enough searching. There are plenty of various tools to choose from and a ton of ideas for sprucing up the front or backyard.

One practical idea that you could buy for dad would be to get him anything he could use during his lunch break while at work. Could he use a new Thermos for his coffee or maybe a new lunchbox?

Think about your father's work environment. Is he a blue collar worker or the opposite? Does he need anything that would be beneficial to him at work. How organized is he? How about a new pair of steel toe boots or a nice pair of work gloves.

Have you ever considered getting your dad a fruit tree? If he has the room for it on his property, they are a rather unique gift idea that will remind dad how much he is cared for at various times over the coming years.

Pick some kind of fruit bearing plant to give your father. You could get him a red raspberry bush, a black raspberry bush or some strawberry plants. Then he will be able to enjoy the present more than once a year.

Considering Charter Flights

By Sam Jeffresson

Are you familiar with the old saying that you can always make a little extra money but are unable to make more time? This is true for many people as the essence of their life is time and they cannot do what is needed to make more of it. As such, they will spend a great deal of money with the goal of acquiring their time back! This is why so many people will look towards chartered flights as they can definitely save time.

When you think about chartered planes, you'll discover that your first thoughts might be of small planes that will give you a bird's eye view of a gorgeous area, but you should expand your horizons. More and more business people have discovered that chartering planes is an expense that signifies not only luxury, but an important part of managing their own time.

One important aspect that you can take a look at when it comes to chartered flights is that you are going to be able to go almost anywhere in the world and you'll be able to do it when you need to do it. For instance, if you have a million dollar deal coming up, you will find that securing it might mean that you have to be across the county in a matter of hours. When you have a chartered plane, that's easy!

One of the main problems people face when taking regular flights for business can come with a number of enormous hassles. The individuals that wish to book the flights also have to pack up their belongings, lug them into the general check in area, and, on top of it all, the person will need to do all this around the flight plans of the airline. Often, this will necessitate having to arrive at the airport over two hours in advance.

Another thing that you will notice is that the major airlines, no matter how good they are, will seldom be able to accommodate your needs with one flight. Instead you are going to be cooling your heels over a number of different layovers. With a chartered flight, you can avoid a lot of that, especially if you are traveling domestically.

It is also important to point out that there are only about 500 airports in which the jets will land. However, there are over 13,000 airports in the world that private, chartered flights will arrive in. This is why charters are often a much better deal.

Looking into charter flights might be what it takes to get you the results that you are after. One of the reasons why so many people love flying on charter flights is that they don't have to deal with the cumbersome regulations that go with flying on large commercial planes. This not to say that charter planes are unsafe; far from it. The truth is that commercial airlines are meant to be dealing with many passengers, while a charter flight will see to your needs exclusively.

Take some time and really consider what your options might be when it comes to hiring charter flights; this might be precisely the solution you have been looking for.

Finding the Right People to Sell Stuff

By Ian Kleine

Business just is not business without the proper trading and the proper people to market it to. Oftentimes, great ideas are thrown in to the slump because of failed marketing and for other reasons as well. It is not sometimes with the proprietor or the entrepreneur but also with the market itself. Why, is there something wrong with the market?

Of course, half of the business depends upon the customer. Upon the market itself. It sometimes is not in your power to manipulate the market, but you sure can manipulate your business to fit your market.

The most common fault most businesses experience is that they do not determine the market type that they are in right now. Often, it's a dive to the unknown, with you not knowing what you're position in the market is. You need determination of self, determination of others and determination of what the current market situation is.

Market situation being the current condition and situation of the customers. This includes certain demands, dislikes, wants and needs of the customers. It is your company, your job, to fulfill those demands and needs. Certainly, include wants in there too. Because you have to set it into the folks out there that they need you, not the other way around.

Check the age group, the demography, everything that can influence the buyer's taste and judgments. Certainly a teen customer would generally be more liberated in spending rather than a tight-middle-aged earner, right? Work this knowledge to your advantage.

Health on Festivals

By Ian Kleine

There's not much to consider when attending a festival for the fair. That is of course, unless you've been doing this for almost the whole part of your life. Managing and carrying your own table or booth can be somewhat distressing, panic-inducing, and hyperventilating. There are a lot of things that could happen while you're at the booth and a lot of things can and WILL happen.

Boredom. The number one enemy of most trade and fair holders. Boredom strikes with little mercy and in a quick fashion. When you have nothing to do in your booth (and oftentimes this will happen, especially on a slow day), when there's no customer, or if generally, nothing exciting happens at all. There's but one thing you can do to quell this away: do something. Anything. At least something that can distract you and your ensuing boredom.

Customer relations. Let's admit that most customers view salespersons and/or people that handle the tables as one with an intellect lower than theirs (probably because people attribute that most sales person barely finish high school. Yes, I'm just pointing out the general consensus. No offense to our hardworking salesmen and women.)

Be at ease. You know who you are, and you know your capabilities. If you do find a customer that is very difficult, and very demeaning with his or her attitude towards you. Step up, but don't overpower. The basic component of tai chi comes to mind, exhaust your opponent with their own energy. Or at least, maybe let unsightly comments pass from one ear to the next.

The usual humidity, frizzy hair, sweat and dankness, and all other things could factor and add up to the weight of irritation and annoyance. You need to suck it up and brave the reality of handling a table. That, or get a friend or companion to join you. It'll halve the problem up.

Five Activities All Visitors To Del Mar Should Do

By Terry Hunefeld

Del Mar California is a dream town - an upscale ocean-side community just north of San Diego. Within the Del Mar city limits, a quaint historical village serves as a backdrop to a small seaside resort first made famous in the 1930's when Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante and other race horse lovers from Hollywood built the horse race track at the fairgrounds.

1. Fantastic Shopping And Bistros

Del Mar's downtown village was developed back in the 1800s. Here you will find upscale clothiers, chic jewelers, eclectic Asian and European importers plus more than 65 other shops, resorts, inns, bed and breakfasts and hotels. Hungry? In the downtown area alone you will find more than 20 unique restaurants of every stripe, many with drop-dead gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean as you dine.

Del Mar Plaza is home of a favorite Del Mar restaurant, Epazote. Epazote is a wonderful place for lunch or end of the day cocktails because it has a sun-drenched outdoor patio with sea breezes and enchanting panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Epazote has something for all appetites with temptations ranging from premium cuts of what they call "Sterling Silver beef" to delicious seafood entrees followed by delicious desserts. The lively bar features an upscale menu - be sure to try their "Shaker Margaritas" - big enough for two. Sophisticated and chic, the 180-degree view of the ocean makes Epazote a great lunch, dinner or nighttime experience. As an added benefit, you can walk back to your hotel or Del Mar Bed and Breakfast after those margaritas.

2. Take A Hike Through Time

If you enjoy a nature hike with phenomenal scenery, Torrey Pines State Reserve is for you, with nearly 2000 acres of natural habitat along the ocean. The reserve was created because this is where the rare and beautiful Torrey Pine tree grows. You will find 6 or 7 trails for hiking, each with it's own brand of awesome views: wind bent Torrey pines, abstract rock formations and lush wildflower displays, all framed by the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Parking Tip: You can park outside the park along the ocean and Highway 101 for free, then walk up the drive into the reserve for a great workout with magnificent views. Take your camera - especially in the spring when fields of wild flowers are in bloom and everywhere you look are fantastic views of the ocean.

3. Up, Up and Away

Soar through the sky in a hot air balloon as it becomes part of the wind and glides effortlessly above the hills and bed and breakfast inns - a calm, peaceful and relaxing way to panoramically take in the enormity of the Pacific Ocean and San Diego countryside. Hot air balloon companies offer daily sunrise and sunset tours from a site near the Del Mar fairgrounds and race track. You'll float eastward towards Rancho Santa Fe and the Cuyamaca Mountains and experience rare views of the San Diego coastline from San Clemente all the way to Mexico.

Many describe flying in a hot air balloon as one of the most serene, enjoyable activities they've ever experienced. Sunny skies and heavenly sunsets allow you to experience what it's like to float among the clouds. If you're staying at a hotel in Del Mar, you can experience the views of a lifetime with Skysurfrer Balloon Tours, Magical Adventures or Sky's The Limit Balloon Adventures. Google or Bing! them for more information.

4. World-Class Beaches

Del Mar beaches are very popular because the waves are usually gentle and it's a great place to learn to surf. With more than two miles of sandy beaches and excellent conditions for swimming, body surfing, board surfing, boogie boarding, or just lounging in the sun, Del Mar beaches are a vacationer's delight. A nearby bed and breakfast in Encinitas is located only a block from Moonlight Beach, and is appropriately named the Inn at Moonlight Beach. On some beaches, residents are allowed to bring their dogs and spectators enjoy great games of dog/human Frisbee. No matter what beach you're on, you'll see hundreds of people spending the whole day under the sun with friends and family. The best and most popular beach is at the end of 15th Street - crowded year around with families, couples, friends and surfers. A good selection of Del Mar hotels and inns can be found near the beaches.

5. Pedal Around Town

Historic Coast Highway 101 runs through the center of downtown Del Mar and is one of San Diego County's best cycling routes. Distance bikers start their rides in Del Mar and head either south to Torrey Pines Reserve or north to Solana Beach, Encinitas and Carlsbad. For less intense riders, bicycling is one of the simplest ways to have fun, enjoy the wonderful Del Mar scenery and stay fit and in-shape, especially if you're enjoying the breakfasts at one of the Del Mar Bed and Breakfasts, inns or hotels in town. With great biking weather all year, you can ride up and down quiet residential streets and along the ocean until you're ready for lunch - Epazote anyone?

Tips For First-Time Visitors To Bulgaria

By Graham McKenzie

Looking for a great place to spend your summer vacation? Head out to the country of Bulgaria. While this may not be one of the usual countries travelers visit in Europe, it is definitely one that you should discover and explore. Located on the southeastern side of Europe, the country of Bulgaria opens to the Black Sea which borders the country on the east. It is now slowly gaining popularity among Europeans and travelers from other parts of the world as one of the best countries to visit in the continent.

If this is your first time to travel to the country of Bulgaria, here are just some tips to help you get the most of your trip.

Bulgaria has a temperate climate, meaning that its locals experience cold winters and warm summers. Its close proximity to the Black Sea and the many mountain ranges that could be found all over the country has made the country of Bulgaria a rather windy country, particularly during the winter months and during the first part of summer. Heavy rainfalls are also frequent during the first few months of summer in the country, so make sure that you pack in your windbreakers and umbrellas with you.

While Bulgaria is still making its name known as a prime tourist destination in Europe, tourists would find a number of different accommodations that are sure to meet their budget and what they are looking for. You can choose from a wide variety of hotels, hostels, bed and breakfasts, and even private lodgings all over the country. Regardless on where you are staying, it is important to remember to make sure to submit your itinerary including the places where you are staying to the local authorities. This is because in the country of Bulgaria, tourists are required to submit all travel itineraries to the local police whether or not you are here for business or pleasure.

Not all tourists are required to acquire a visa to visit the country, provided that your stay is no longer than 30 days. To see if you are qualified for this, it is best to contact the embassy of Bulgaria in your country.

This relief, which was carved on the rock of the plateau, has been dated back to the year 710 AD and it is believed to have been created under the instruction of the Bulgar Khan Tervel.

Despite the fact that Bulgaria is just starting to make its mark as a prime tourist destination in Europe, travelers visiting the country would not need to worry about where to stay during their trip to this beautiful country. Travelers can choose from a wide variety of accommodations all over the country. From 5-star hotels to private lodgings and hostels, travelers are guaranteed to find one that would meet their budget.

You can use your ATM or debit card in the ATM machines in the major cities of the country which would dispense the amount you need in the local currency. It is important to remember, though, that international ATM cards used are subject to additional fees and a limit in the number of transactions that could be done in a day.

Wellington City Profile

By Andrena Gum

Wellington, situated on the southern tip of New Zealand's Northern Island is the southernmost capital city in the world. The harsh winds that blow non-stop off Cook Straight have earned it the nick name "Windy City".

Wedged between steep hills, Wellington's limited space for expansion has forced the city to build high in order to accommodate increased demand for commercial and residential space. Victorian structures fell victim to new construction and modernization, giving Wellington the most modern skyline in the country.

The Maori people called the area around Wellington "the Head of Maui's fish", a reference to an incident in the Polynesian Maui Cycle when the hero, Maui, fought his brothers over a huge fish, leading to the land being cut up both by the fish's thrashing tail and by their knives.

When James Cook made a side trip here in 1773, the rough landscape of the bay was densely settled. Maori tribes fought one another constantly for the best coastal locations. This, along with the strong, unfavourable winds, may explain why Cook did not drop anchor and go ashore.

European settlement began with the landing of the warship Tory on 20 September 1839. In January of the following year, William Wakefield, commander of the first expedition of the New Zealand Company, "bought" the area from the Maoris for one hundred muskets. Wakefield therefore became the founder of Wellington. The city was named in honour of Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington and England's national hero in the Napoleonic Wars. Wellington was named New Zealand's capital on 26 July 1865.

Wellington is more than the political centre of the country; it has also made a name for itself as a city of culture. Wellington is the home of Te Papa, New Zealand's pioneering, interactive national museum, as well as to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and such national treasures as the original Treaty of Waitangi.

New Zealand's most famous writer, Katherine Mansfield, was born in Wellington and published her first short stories in a local literary magazine. New Zealand's capital is remarkably diverse topographically, with mountains and hills embracing the compact city and its beautiful harbour.

At the summit of Mount Victoria, which can be scaled by a cable tramway built in 1902, visitors can enjoy the beauties of Kelburn Hill and the Botanic Gardens. The gardens, established in 1869, now cover 26 hectares.

Watch out for penguins Wellington is almost certainly the only capital city in the world where penguins freely roam the streets. This encourages visitors to walk alongside them; the city centre is best experienced on foot. Visitors (and penguins) can wander through its shopping arcades, lovely cafes and, less happily, constant traffic.

Nowhere else in the country is urban life lived as intensely as in Wellington. Unique adventure tours are available along the Kapiti coast and hiking trails run all along the craggy coastline, just off the coast, the world famous bird sanctuary of Kapiti Island attracts visitors from afar.

The environs of Wellington are known for their luxurious country lifestyle. Many great estates lie inland, just over the hills. Directly north of Wellington is Hutt Valley, where visitors can arrange bush and coastal hikes, SUV trips, golfing, mountain biking and fishing.

A Mini Formentera Article

By Tom Binns

The main attraction to Formentera island is its peace and quiet and the fact it is completely unspoiled. It has a population of around seven thousand. It is the nearest place to paradise on earth. Quite simply beautiful.

Formentera is only a stone throw away from Ibiza, but the white beaches and the turquoise sea give you this relaxed magic Caribbean feeling. It's like being in another world. A world where you can get away from the madness that can sometimes consume Ibiza.

Formentera island is a relatively flat island with windy dusty lanes, lined with fincas, and many breeds of trees including Sabina, fig, palm, and pine trees. One of it's finest features are it's beaches that stretch for miles - some have sea on both sides!

Formentera is well known for its fresh seafood with grilled fish and local fish stews being perennial favorites. Although don't be fooled a lot of sea food is actually imported from Scotland! The sea food restaurants on the beach can be very expensive.

If you've never been to this beautiful island you must go the pictures don't do it justice. It has beautiful beaches and clear water as well as spectacular inland scenery. The weather is fine most of the year. I'd recommend you go between May and October and stay clear of August.

I would recommend you see the island by boat (I'm not biased) there are many options for you to choose from and they're cheaper than you think. Just ask your local friendly search engine.

Why so Serious with Crafting

By Ian Kleine

She did her booth simple, but unique and in the theme. Unlike most of the others who had settled to blinging their booths so much that all it needed was a disco ball, she had a simple tablecloth of white to contrast the different colors, and had set her business corner in the side to allow the customers to roam around and choose from the many different bracelets she had made.

She was also very quiet, but would answer when asked. Customers don't like naggy salesperson, and often times; it is rather counterproductive and scares the customer away (the irony of it). Be casual, but avoid familiarity as well.

Treat your customers and respect them, and not go hunky dory all of a sudden. People might look into it as favoritism and that could dissuade them from buying from you. In her case, she just sat there, smiled when a person came near and observed. When the buyer asked for something that was the time she stood up and answered the question. Made a successful sale, and a happy customer.

Likely to not happen in indoor fairs, but be prepared for anything especially the weather. Good thing she had a tarp on when the rains came. She was saved (and so was I ). The other booths were quite unlucky, they had to redo it again. Talk about being paranoid and well prepared at the same time.

Lastly, try not to try too hard. Be relaxed and treat it like you are taking a walk and greeting people. She was a regular to everyone, so it wasn't really that hard for her to try too hard. Amiable and quiet, that I think was the best trait a salesperson and a craftsman could have.

Short Breaks In UK, Why Not Try North Wales?

By Arthur Townlands

It is a well known fact that taking short breaks are beenficial, everyone should do this and in the UK this is an easy thing to accomplish. This s a small island, with big history and a brilliant public transport system so short breaks in UK are easy to do, inexpensive if out of season and there is no reason not to do this.

For the sake of this article we are going to talk about North Wales, it is right next door and is part of the UK. It is completely unique in that the people speak Welsh and a visitor who is unaccustomed to this language, might think they have arrived in another country when they try to get their tongue around the names.

Snowdonia fortunately is a name that everyone can get their tongue around, but how about "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch", also a small village in North Wales, close to Snowdonia, in fact just across the Menai Straits on Angelsey, and it has to be seen to be believed. To master that name you would need longer than a short break!

You will also find the most beautiful beaches in the UK in north Wales, mostly on Anglesey Island, the large island at the top of Wales. Driving at a snails pace in Lligwy Beach will allow you to see the full beauty of this Green Coast awarded town, and for surfers the curlers of Black Rock Sands can be a joy to ride. This beach on the Llyn Peninsula has an incredible view of Cardigan Bay, and great rock pools and caves to explore when the tide is out.

You will find the best walled towns in North Wales, the walls of Beaumaris Castle protect this medieval town. The names stems from Norman French and means "beautiful marsh" no other descriptive could be more apt! Like Lligwy beach, Beaumaris is situated on Anglesey (the large island at the top of North Wales), and I was blessed enough to have spent three of the happiest and most exciting years of my life on this Island. So you are getting it straight from the horse's mouth!

Reasons Why You Should Protect Your Eyes From Ultraviolet Rays

By Carrie Westengate

Most people have some understanding of the damage that continuous and frequent exposure to the sun can have on the skin, but they may not always consider the effects on the eyes. Light contains invisible wavelengths that can cause eventual ultra violet (UV) damage to the eyes. These waves can be divided into visible and high energy visible (HEV) light.

Visible light is the portion that gives the perception of colour to the eye and HEV is the upper end of the spectrum in the violet blue band approaching ultraviolet. Excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays can cause UV damage and have effects later in life that may lead to macular degeneration.

Ultraviolet light waves are electromagnetic radiation that is found to be stronger in higher altitudes or in open highly reflective environments like water, snow and sand. Ultraviolet waves can be divided into three types of light, UVA, UVB and UVC. While most are aware that excessive exposure to ultraviolet waves leads to sunburn, there are other damaging effects to health that may occur, particularly to the eyes.

UVA (also known as longwave or black light) penetrates the skin and eyes and may cause premature aging. It has also been linked with eyestrain and fatigue in the short term.

UVB (also known as medium wave light) is known to cause the most UV damage and is also known to be a factor in retinal damage and the development of cataracts. Ultraviolet B waves are also associated with other problems that can lead to eye disease and possibly blindness.

Ultraviolet rays of the C subtype (also known as shortwave or germicidal light) are not a particular problem to the eyes, as they are mostly absorbed by the outer atmosphere before it reaches the earth. UVC radiation is usually found in artificial sources such as mercury arc lamps and germicidal light.

Do not forget when buying sunglasses to look for those with 99-100% protection against UV damage. The lower amount of protection is most likely when purchasing photochromic lenses that would need a certain amount of ultraviolet waves to operate adequately.

It is not all bad news, of course some exposure is certainly beneficially to health. All that people should understand is that for the sake of your health, the level of exposure to ultraviolet rays should be monitored.

You'll spend an average of eight hours of instruction a day on these tours. As you acquire knowledge and skill, the climbs graduate to the more difficult ones in the district. By the end of the week, you will have acquired a well-rounded basic knowledge and great climbing skills.

Numerous tour companies will supply you with all necessary equipment. If you are using one of these companies, you'll only need to bring climbing shoes. Most tour packages include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and your accommodations. You will be given an itinerary and fact sheets about just what is built-in to the package price. One week tours are five or six days.

Other Costa Blanca Vacation Adventures If you're attracted to something a bit less daring, yet you still want to enjoy nature, think about hiking tours. Hiking tours last a long weekend or a week in Costa Blanca. They give you an opportunity to explore nature, valleys, ruins, old farms, rock formations, and numerous sites accessible only on foot.

Hiking tours in the autumn, winter and spring are a terrific choice. These are a great choice for off-season vacations. At the time you book your trip, you'll be given an itinerary with the facts about the districts you will be seeing.

These tours generally include accommodations and meals. In addition, depending upon the tour, you might stay in one place for the duration, or stay at several locations. If you are staying in one location, you'll be transported to the start of each day's tour. Meals are included with most programs. You will need to bring comfortable clothing and walking gear.

If you want to spend your time on the water, consider a sea kayaking tour. Kayaking tours are one-hour in length so that they may be enjoyed as part of your vacation. There are one or three day such tours for the asking. The majority of these tours don't need kayaking know-how, but you must be able to swim.

The vacations we've discussed in this article are accessible year round. They include everything necessary for the tour except appropriate clothing and sunscreen.

Heading Out for Spring Break? Here are our Top Five Beach Destinations

By Brad Alexzander

Spring Break is the perfect time to let loose and get rid of the stress of studying by heading out to any one of many great destinations known for their lovely beaches. Understandably with the economy the way it is travel to some of the more expensive islands may be out of financial reach.

Even with that said there are five amazing beaches that college students can make reservations for now and look forward to several days of sun and sand.

* Perhaps the most well-known of all destinations is Ft. Lauderdale. Florida has changed over the years, but Ft. Lauderdale is still the place which college students can afford traveling to during Spring Break.

* Acapulco also tops the list for popular destinations, especially for college students. You can usually find travel packages that help make this destination affordable as well as trendy.

* Unfortunately while Bermuda has always been at the top of the spring break list it is also somewhat pricey. Fortunately nearby Aruba is a wonderful alternative destination with amazing beaches, friendly people, and fantastic weather. One more bonus is that all Aruba hotels are located on the beach, unlike Bermuda.

* Another consideration is the Bahamas as it offers affordable accommodations and fabulous beaches.

* Finally, for an all-inclusive package to either "nowhere" or from Florida to the Bahamas, cruises have become highly touted as the best possible vacation venue for most college students.

If you plan to travel to Mexico you want to take safety into consideration. Crime has risen dramatically in several popular resort cities such as Cancun and the US strongly advises traveling there. Fortunately for its fans, Acapulco is the exception.

Finally I have one other suggestion that you may want to consider, Panama City Beach, FL. In the past few years it has become a It has become a booming destination for Spring Breakers. With beautiful beaches, plentiful parties, and hopping clubs this is one destination college students may want to consider as a last "resort."

Any of the above destinations will definitely help you relax and unwind and get the most from your Spring Break holiday. I recommend that you book early for the best deals and a guaranteed spot. You can find great deals using the internet or your personal travel agent.

Bing Crosby, Lucy Ball And The Del Mar California Race Track

By Terry Hunefeld

In 1937, world-famous recording artist and movie star Bing Crosby (along with some of his Hollywood pals like Jimmy Durante and Pat O'Brien) set out to achieve a horse racing dream they had talked about for many years. They wanted to build a world-class horse race track where they could go wild horse betting all day and get wilder partying all night while enjoying the refreshing climate and cool ocean breezes of San Diego. The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club was born and built.

When Del Mar opened in 1937, Bing Crosby himself was at the gate to personally greet the fans. The seaside city of Del Mar, just north of San Diego, soon became famous as the home of the Del Mar Racetrack, visited by spectators, horsemen and horse racing fans from all across America.

In August of 1938, the track hosted a $25,000 winner-take-all match race between Charles S. Howard's Seabiscuit and the Binglin Stable's colt, Ligaroti. This was an era when horse racing ranked second in popularity only to Major League Baseball. The race was front page sports section news in all the major newspapers was the first nationwide broadcast of a thoroughbred horse race by NBC radio. Seabiscuit won this important race by a nose before a record crowd and the Del Mar Race Track was "on the map" as one of the most famous race tracks in the world.

Between the years of 1938 and 1942 the Del Mar horse racing track entertained Hollywood personalities and celebrities Mickey Rooney, Desi Arnaz , Lucille Ball, W. C. Fields, Douglas Fairbanks, Paulette Goddard and Ava Gardner. A famous comedian of the day, Joe Frisco, spent a fair amount of time and money in Del Mar. He played on his reputation as the consummate track loser with lines like: "I went to the track Monday but it was closed, so I just shoved the money under the door."

After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Del Mar was closed for the duration of the war. The fairgrounds were initially used as a U.S. Marine training facility, then altered again and used to produce parts for the B-17 bombers that helped win the war. When the war ended, President Truman declared August 15, 1945 a national day of celebration. More than 20,300 horse racing fans showed up at the Del Mar track and bet an enormous (in those days) one million dollars.

After the war, the Santa Fe Railroad offered a "racetrack special" to bring race fans from Los Angeles directly to Del Mar. The special program was a success, bringing streams of spectators, vacationers, race fans and horses to Del Mar. Waiting for and meeting the train at the train station became a tradition for local residents and vacationers alike. The 2009 season, 72 years after Bing took tickets on the first opening day, the race season begins on July 22, extending through September 9.

The History Of The Highway Code

By Johann Ken Flanders

Whether you drive or not, we are all considered road users, whether we are drivers, cyclists, horse rider or pedestrians. The Highway Code is generally seen by everyone as the set of guidelines and laws that determine the correct way to behave on a road.

Back in 1930 there were only around two million motor cars on the roads, and in that year alone there were well over 7000 deaths by road accidents. Which is really, a staggeringly high number of deaths, considering there were well over 20 million motor vehicles on the road in 2004 and only around 3000 deaths.

So, probably as a (direct or indirect) result of this, the Highway Code was born. Launched in 1931, it celebrated its 75th birthday in 2006, it has undergone many changes and updates over those years. For example the original version of the Code was a mere 24 pages long and contained information such as how to indicate when turning in your horse drawn carriage.

There was no mention of why driving drunk or tired was dangerous or any road signs or stopping distances and it cost one old penny. Included in the second edition, released in 1946, was advice on why you shouldn't drive drunk or tired, and the first fifteen road signs to be put out on British roads made the debut appearance, only two of which we still use today.

Stopping distances however, did not get a mention until the edition that came out in 1954, along with a further sixteen road signs, bringing the total number to 31. When compared with today's 170, its interesting to think what new signs might become commonplace on our roads in another sixty years.

The first version to include photographs and 3D images was the sixth version which came out in 1968, and these images were used to show braking distances. It also introduced the orange badges for disabled people and gave the Green Cross Code to pedestrians.

Then, the theory driving test was introduced in The 90's, along with an update to the Code to include the information that new drivers need to pass it, hence this has now become part of the code itself.

So the Highway Code has been with us for around 78 years and during that time has become the key resource for driving laws, guidelines or advice. The newest law to be added of course being that you can't use mobiles while driving. This just shows how the laws of the road have adapted to the changes in society.

Planning a Food Festi?

By Ian Kleine

In planning for a foodie festival, the usual steps in taking a course of action for the planned event should be the same with everything else: a step by step procedure. not to mention that there should be a leader of some sort in order for the whole event to pass off without a hitch or a hassle.

Employ a general manager to over see everything regarding the festival. Involvements, finances, problems and solutions should all be known by the manager and should be seen and intervened. The manager, manages all the elements of the festival, so no detail must be left behind, or anything else mustn't surprise him.

The manager should make sure to identify and know the demographics and the target market he or she is planning to take up. Will it be mostly men or women? Younger or older by age? The manager should also make sure to check first, whether the community wants a festival or not. Talk about scandal if the money will be used for something the town wouldn't agree on.

The manager should secure the venue, do the necessary paper works and guarantee it before anything else. After the approval of the event, he is tasked to do his job of securing everything for the workers to start doing their thing. Programming is also a priority for the manager, as the list of line ups should be satisfying for the large demographic the festival may not cater to.

Budget management should not only limit themselves to handling the funding already present in the community box, but also on the auctions, bids, and income that goes in with the festival. Large companies would usually bid for commercial space or some tables or booths. Other small enterprises in the area would also do the same for publicity. Take advantage of this and manage your cards well.

Free Items much?

By Ian Kleine

Most of the time, people in craft fairs would find it wonderful and simply mind boggling to hang around your booth or your table if you give out freebies in some form or another. Freebies come from the word "free" and by free, it means a no-contract or strings attached form of some deal. Nothing in this world is ever free, which is why the concept of freebies would always attract people no matter how trivial or small it may seem.

Free items do not need to be very expensive, very large, or very big. At the most, the freebie should be part of your products. For example, if you are into the wood works industry, perhaps a small statuette, or maybe a paperweight would be a suitable freebie for your booth.

Don't forget that you also need to have your name (or your company's name) in the product's face. At least, when they look back, they would know the company (or the person) that gave them that particular freebie. Perhaps try and recruit a friend as well through that form of advertisement.

Food industry freebies often come by with using samplers. These are small tidbits of food, usually served cocktail style and laid out in trays for the masses to take one and eat. You would be more familiar with samplers if you visit your local grocery more often and notice the free food on toothpicks that they serve. It's certainly a crowd drawer, right?

Make sure to have your name out in catchy and bright colors, to attract attention (unless the over all theme of your booth is supposed to be dark, then go otherwise). And make sure to give your best when it comes to freebies. Those items will be like your business card, your first impression as well. If your first impression doesn't give a good flavor to the audience, the freebies worth becomes nil.

Low Cost New Year Affair

By Alexandra Vrugt

You can cause a stir this new year without causing too much of a commotion with your wallet by making your New Year affair a cheaper, but still fun, event. While it may seem unrealistic that you could actually save money and yet party through the night, truth is, you really can if you follow these simple tips:

Make your party a "no alcohol" zone. You will save a mint by simply cutting out the alcohol. Not only will you benefit from the financial saving, but your guests could have a safer, more positive New Year celebration experience. Who says you need booze to have a good time? Instead of the hard stuff, consider fruity drink mixes that you can use with seltzer that you can buy for cheap.

Get your party goods from your local thrift shop. You will be surprised how much party stuff that you can find at a second hand store. There is bound to be an abundance of supplies that you can mix and match for your celebration that are probably donated left overs from another person's grand affair. Of course, you should expect to buy for cheap any party supplies that they have at a thrift store, as most items will likely cost less than $1.

Add some personal flair by making your own party hats! With a little cardboard or card stock, wrapping paper, and string, you could make some really funny cone-shaped party hats that your guests will love! Simply roll the cardstock into a cone, secure with tape or staples, wrap with colored paper (could be newspaper comics), and use string, yarn, or ribbon to make a tie. Voila! Silly, simple, and a great savings for your event.

BYOF - Invite people to Bring Your Own Food! This is a great way to save and get your party "catered" with loads of yummy fare. Pretty much, let people bring what they want, and for those that are not the best cooks, have them pick up the extras like condiments and chips. One of the only things better than being able to buy for cheap is not having to buy at all!

Start the New Year off with a few extra pennies in your pocket by saving on your new year's celebration. Frugal recipes, taking advantage of every opportunity to buy for cheap, and being an ultimate frugal fashionista by making your own party goods could help you have a fabulous affair without spending fabulously!

London Weekend Breaks, A Tourist Trap? Maybe For Tourists!

By Arthur Townlands

As far as exciting cities go, London is one of the more cosmopolitan and happening cities. There is plenty to do, but most of the sights are a tourist trap. However there are also some best kept secrets which not many people are aware of and we are going to discuss some of these in relationship to London weekend breaks.

The British Museum is well known as being the most popular places to see when in London. But when in Rome, do as the Romans, does not apply to this piece, so we take a look at a completely different museum, the Hunterian.

The Hunterian recently underwent a 3 million revamp, and if you fancy having a look at Winston Churchill's gnashers, this is the place to see them. The Hunterian is a medical museum annexed to the Royal College of Surgeons of England, so if you fancy your history mixed up with the curious and the downright gruesome, it is worth a visit. You will find medical instrument, from centuries ago which look like torture instruments, body parts pickled in formaldehyde and all sorts of strange exhibits.

Not too far from Bromley you will find 22 miles of man-made underground caves. These are the Chilsehurst Caves, and to reach them you get a train from London Bridge. They offer a 45 minute tour of the caves where many people spent their time during the Blitz of London. The tour informs you about the relationship caves have with the Romans, Druids and the Kent Mushroom Co, and quite disconcertingly the guide refers to the world above as "topside".

What about trying the Secret Cinema? This brings a whole new meaning to cinema-going. These days watching a film has really lost its charm, it is all pop-corn, multiplexes and ridiculous ticket prices. Joining the Secret Cinema society could provide you with even more excuses for visiting London, as they screen a "secret" film once a month in an unusual location. You are informed of the location, but don't get to know what film is showing till you arrive, hence the name "Secret Cinema". Once of the most recent screenings was "Paranoid Park" by Gus Van Sant and it took place in an unused railway tunnel.

Flights from Glasgow

By Craig Walker

Twenty five years ago so called experts said that Glasgow flights to Europe were unsustainable and that if you wanted get a flight from Glasgow to a European destination you would have to fly via London, Manchester or Birmingham.

There were alternative ways to get to a European destination or destinations further away whilst avoiding travelling via the busy London airports. You could fly via Dublin to the United States or via Amsterdam to many European, Asian and Australian cities.

Luckily enough today there are lots more options for travellers looking for a direct flight from Glasgow than at anytime in the past. The new airlines can offer cheaper airfares as well as an increased number of destinations. Travellers no longer think of a holiday abroad as much of a luxury and now travel to more destinations more often but for shorter lengths of stay.

The growth of the internet has definitely helped as without this cheap distribution method the costs of the flights would have to reflect this.

Greater access to the lower living costs in Eastern European cities has made a massive growth in city breaks to these destinations as people search out new destinations to explore and attractions to see.

Wasting time sitting in a departure lounge waiting for a connecting flight is no longer a necessity when you get a direct flight.

Use the internet and shop around checking all the flights from Glasgow airport to your chosen airport. Simply do the same for the accommodation and you are bound to find a cheap hotel and you have put together you very own cheap short break from Glasgow airport.

The cheap flights have also brought foreign visitors to the Glasgow area to shop. From around late October to mid-December flights from the Scandinavian countries arrive to save money on Christmas gifts and enjoy a day out in Glasgow.

Whether you want to be in front of a warm cozy fireplace or snapping pictures while riding up the ski lifts, Deer Valley has everything. Even in the summer, Deer Valley is a beautiful place for your travel plans.

While the places to stay are wonderful exciting attractions, the snow capped mountains and sparkling lakes are worthy of praise themselves. The landscape is scenic enough that the 2002 winter Olympics held several events on the majestic mountains that tower over the surrounding areas.

Deer Valley vacation rentals offer a lot to choose from. You can stay on the slopes of the mountains in a plush ski-in ski-out residence or choose a well appointed condo for two. The whole family can stay in a large townhouse overlooking a lake that, I'm sure I saw on a couple of post cards. Choosing where you will stay is an important component of your vacation, but no matter what you decide, Deer Valley vacation rentals are always a great choice.

Most condos in the Deer Valley area are privately owned. Some owners might be a little picky about whom they let stay, but once you see some of these retreats it becomes quite understandable. Also, the private condos are very expensive which cuts down on renters who aren't ideal temporary tenants.

Don't worry about what you're going to do when you arrive, there are numerous things in all seasons. Skiing is obviously the main attraction, but there are a variety of events for adults and kids alike. Take the family on a horse drawn sleigh ride or try your hand at snowmobiling. In the evenings make sure to check out the highly acclaimed restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisine types and seasonal fare.

If none of the outside activities capture your interest then you might favor the indoor options available. Maybe a romantic cabin hidden on the side of a mountain over looking the beautiful lake one of several mirror lakes. Enjoy the fireplace and the company of someone you love. Deer Valley vacation rentals come equipped with everything you'll need to spend a few days inside, including hot tubs and home theaters. However, television should be the last thing on your mind in such a beautiful setting.

Maybe you're interested in a truly high end vacation experience. Deer Valley Resort offers some of the most luxurious lodging options in the world. Inquire about a private home rental in the exclusive Bald Eagle, Deer Crest, or Flagstaff neighborhoods to treat yourself to the best. These Deer Valley vacation rentals cater to those with expensive taste, but are well worth every penny.

Whether you come for the beauty or the skiing, Deer Valley Resort has many fantastic vacation rental choices for your vacation. Fill your time with events and tours or stay in and play all day. Just don't miss out on the vacation of a lifetime.

Travel by Working on Cruise Ships

By Bretski Tyler

There are many who are craving adventure and wanting to take off from their daily grind. A lot decide to go backpacking, working their away fruit picking or dong bar work. Whilst others are taking advantage of working for the many different cruise ship operators. A major difference is that rather than earning enough money in one destination to go onto the next, people who work on cruise ships are being paid to travel.

The impression that most people have of working on a cruise ship is that for the length of the contract (which is usually around 6 - 8 months) they live a life full of adventure, fun and allot of alcohol and sex. For the most part I can tell you that it is true. Life on a cruise ship is full of those things on a daily basis.

When you work on a cruise ship you eat, sleep and breathe life on the seas. A major bonus of being part of a cruise ship crew is that you are being paid to have fun and adventure. Alcohol is cheap as chips (as little as a dollar a drink), and you'll find yourself amongst likeminded people who all want the same things. Not to mention that there is a lot of room swapping and sleepovers.

One of the best things about travelling this way is that everything is paid for including your room, food and board and the pay can sometimes be quite substantial. People who have been at it for a few years or more often own their own houses outright and those that have chosen to do it as a career are often quite wealthy.

It must be said that life on the seas is not for everyone and there are cases where people have signed on for a contract and have found themselves wanting to catch the next plane home. However, those that do stick it out and are more relaxed have the time of their lives. Not only do you get an adventure, but also you make friends with people all over the world and come home with enough memories to write a book. The other thing to remember is that life on a cruise ship can often be intense including the fun. Cruise ships often work 7 days a week and so you can find yourself having time off rather than whole days off, yet most find their work on a cruise ship a totally enjoyable experience that it is not that much of an issue.

Another thing to consider is that different cruise ship companies allow different levels of freedom or privileges for crew on the ship. Disney for instance, as they are a Christian Family values type company can be quite restrictive on what crewmembers are allowed to do whilst living on their ships. For example I believe that you must be a non-smoker to be employed by Disney and the consumption of alcohol by crewmembers might be very restrictive. As far as I can tell, the best cruise ship to work for at this stage is Princess Cruises where they allow crewmembers the most freedom and the best pay rates.

If the money or the thrill adventure is enticing you to think about applying, make sure to think about it carefully before signing up. Things that must be taken into account is the fact that you will have initial expenses that include a full medical check up, sea safety training as well as travelling expenses to meet up with the cruise ship, after which this initial expense the company generally pays. You are signing up for a contract period of about 6 - 8 months that will mean you will be away from your family and friends. (Although most cruise ship companies offer very cheap deals for family members to visit). If it still sounds enticing and you decide to take on the experience then you will surely have an experience of a lifetime.

Try London Weekend Breaks For Something Completely Different

By Arthur Townlands

As far as exciting cities go, London is one of the more cosmopolitan and happening cities. There is plenty to do, but most of the sights are a tourist trap. However there are also some best kept secrets which not many people are aware of and we are going to discuss some of these in relationship to London weekend breaks.

It is a well known fact that the British Museum is stunning to visit, but if you want to escape the camera clicking tourists, why not try the Hunterian Museum? It is a museum with a difference, there is no charge to get in, and it is one of the best kept secrets in London.

What about taking the train from London Bridge to Chilsehurst Caves? Its not very far from Bromley and in an unexpected turn of event you get to spend 45 minutes on a guided underground tour of 22 miles of man-made caves. These provided shelter for families during the London Blitz, but you can still learn about the association caves had with Druids, Romans and the Kent Mushroom Company. It is a little worrying however when the tour guide refers to the outside world as "topside"!

Another best kept London secret is the "Secret Cinema". This is a society of cinema goers with a difference. It is not about cineplexes, multiplexes, popcorn and slushies. It is about adventure! Joining this group of people may just give you reason to visit London more often than you might normally. As once a month they screen a film in a different but exciting venue. You don't know what film will be shown till you arrive and one of the more recent viewings was the Gus Van Sant film "Paranoid Park" which was eerily shown in an abandoned railway tunnel.

Maximize Your Vacation With Discount Accommodation

By Megan Clayto

Anticipating a vacation is a great feeling. Thanks to the Internet, you can take a virtual visit to the place you plan to vacation without actually going there or leaving home. Finding vacation discount accommodation that fits your budget can make the trip all the more enjoyable.

Thinking about taking a trip around the world? Or perhaps you just want to get away for the weekend. Discount accommodation is available at many motels and hotels around the world.

So how do you take advantage of these discount prices? A few simple steps and careful coordination can land you the vacation of a life time at a cost that makes your budget quite happy. With discount places to stay, you'll be planning another vacation sooner than you think.

The first step is to decide where you want to vacation. Try to stay open about where you want to stay. As long as you are willing to stay a short distance away, you can be sure that you will get accommodations that are far less than the normal price others pay.

The Internet offers a variety of discount websites where you can name a price you're comfortable with paying. All you have to do is choose your location, name a price and wait to see if it it is accepted by the hotel. If so, be prepared to pay for the room in full at the time that the offer is agreed to, not when you check in.

A word of caution about discount websites. Usually the prices are non-exchangeable and non-refundable. If something changes your plans, your vacation payment is lost unless you can find someone to purchase the accommodations from you. Take a moment to read the terms of the site to avoid a costly expenditure instead of an enjoyable vacation.

Another way to save big money is by making your hotel, plane and car rental reservations with the same company. Such companies have usually negotiated great deals with savings they pass on to customers like you. You'll save time and money by coordinating all of your vacation needs for arrival, stay and getting around town in one stop.

Some discount accommodation can be obtained by means of a vacation layaway. With this type of plan, you pay you your vacation a little at a time before the vacation actually occurs. Prices are generally quite low and payments are small. The limitations tend to be the number of blackout dates when you cannot book at the discounted rate and a small quantity of rooms available.

Have you ever considered going on a vacation first then paying for it? It's true, you can take a vacation now and not pay a penny until you return. Enjoy a worry-free vacation with discounted accommodations and only pay when you come back. Similar to vacation layaways, there are certain travel restrictions that apply. Likewise, these pay later trips may be to a destination selected for you, not of your own choosing.

Corcovado National Park - Visit The Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica

By Victor C. Krumm

Situated off the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica along the shores of the Osa Peninsula, almost on the Panama border, you will find the Parque Nacional Corcovado (Corcovado National Park). This is a unique protected habitat and is the largest surviving forest on the Pacific Coast from Mexico to South America. There are eight different habitats to be found in the 42,000 hectares (100,000 acres) which form a tiny national park that remains for the most part unspoiled. Though teeny, it is one-of-a-kind. Literally.

When Christopher Columbus explored the Americas in 1502 he traveled the Caribbean from Mexico south to a land he called 'Costa Rica', the 'rich coast'. The name stuck. Fabulous tropical forests covered the land from the Atlantic to the Pacific and there were so many sea turtles that sometimes mariners, lost in the fog, found land by listening to the sounds of tens of thousands of animals paddling towards nesting beaches. Unfortunately, the passage of 500 years has not been kind to either the forests or animals and today most of the primary forests from Mexico to South America have been cut down or burned. Fortunately, Costa Rica had the good sense to preserve Corcovado.

About 75 years after Columbus landed on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica an English sea captain, Sir Frances Drake (you may recall that he is the fellow who destroyed the Spanish Armada in 1588 and saved England from Spain), explored its Pacific coast and, indeed, landed in a lovely bay on the north end of the Osa Peninsula. Famous for its gateway to the Osa and its fabulous sports fishing, you may have heard of it: Drake Bay.

Do not be misled by the tiny size of this gem. Though it is less than 160 square miles in size (your daily commute is probably larger) this national park protects has been described by National Geographic as 'the most biologically intense place' on the planet. There are 400 species of birds in an area only about 20 miles long and 8 miles wide. How intense is this? Consider. The continental United States---48 States---has 900 or so different species. The largest remaining population of magnificent Scarlet Macaws in Central America lives there, some 1000. Visitors are regularly able to watch these birds in flight or feeding near the shoreline. The mangrove swamps, montane forest and jolillo palms of Corcovado provide a home for 139 different species of mammal and 116 species of amphibian and reptile. The mammals (including six species of wild cats) represent a 10th of the species of mammals still alive in the Americas and are supported on only 0.000101777% of the landmass.

If you like frogs (and who does not?) then visiting this national park will be a rare treat. There are species of poison-arrow, glass, and re-eyed tree frogs which make this park their home. It is one of just a couple of places in Costa Rica to find squirrel monkeys, and visitors are able to watch fishing bats fish the rivers of the reserve at night. At one time you could also find the harpy eagle in Corcovado, however, it has not been see for a number of years and is believed to be extinct in the area.

The seemingly deserted beaches of the park provide a nesting ground for four species of sea turtle and because of the large tapir population jaguars and crocodiles also inhabit this area. They prefer to hunt around the edges of the Corcovado Lagoon and are often sighted. The footprints of this large carnivorous cat are often found in the mud trails which surround the lagoon.

Corcovado is one of the best tropical rainforests on earth. You will see why it is called the Amazon of Costa Rica because it is as impressive as any rain forest in Brazil, Indonesia, or Malaysia. Torrential rains fall in the area from April to December so the best time to visit is in the dry months from January to April.

Movie Locations in the Cotswolds

By Anna Phillips

Where do film producers manage to find incredible locations to shoot the most famous movie scenes? The Cotswolds, popularly known as the "Heart of England" would attract movie fans like me to trek around this charming place in west-central England. Blockbuster movies like Bridget Jones's Diary, Pride and Prejudice, James Bond's Die Another day, Vanity Fair and the well-loved Harry Potter franchise was the inspiration behind a lot of real and fantasy movies. This charming countryside deserves a quick introduction.

The Cotswolds is totally enclosed in natural beauty; this ancient district of England is generally recognized for its history and legacy. Experienced travelers will be happy to see the wonderful sights like sleepy villages, bustling market places and old-world surroundings.

The Cotswolds was formally recognized as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1966; it is one of the prime regions of 40 AONBs in England and Wales due to its natural splendour. Now let us bring to light some significant locations which have enjoyed a Hollywood makeover from the James Bond film franchise to the Bridget Jones series.

Bridget Jones' Diary (2000), which stars Funny lady Rennee Zellweger and Hugh Grant was filmed in the quiet village of Snowshill in Gloucestershire. Harry Potter scenes from the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry were shot in Gloucester Cathedral. Oxford University came alive on the big screen for most of the scenes at school. Oxford University took center stage on Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and the Madness of King George (1994).

The action packed ice chase scenes from Die Another Day (2002) were shot in the car park at Bourton-on-the-Water which was described as the "little Venice" of the Cotswolds. Some car chase scenes were filmed on the runway of the Royal Air Force aircraft at Upper Rissington. Remains of the Day (1993) which displayed the talents of Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson was filmed on location in Badminton House and Dyrham Park near Chippenham. Film production also took place in Wiltshire particularly in Corsham Court.

Notable movies that were filmed in the Cotswolds include the box office hit Stardust (2007) shot in Bibury which featured Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert de Niro. The Other Boleyn Girl, starring Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson featured the grandeur of Berkeley Castle. Bath City was the cinematic inspiration behind The Duchess starring Keira Knightley.

The extraordinary tale of Vanity Fair (2004) was filmed in Stanway House near Winchcombe in Bath. The Libertine (2004) starring Johnny Depp as the romantic Earl of Rochester was also filmed in the same location. Luckington Court near Chippenham in Wiltshire came alive on the big screen in Pride and Prejudice (2005).

This historic area was chosen as the film location in many epic movies. It's fascinating to be around these places where famous movie scenes were made and at the same time tourists get to travel around and enjoy the breathtaking Cotswolds countryside.

How To Book A Last Minute Package Holiday To Save Money

By Matt Harris

When you're learning about something new, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should help you focus on the central points.

Package holidays are ideal as they take the stress out of booking a holiday by allowing you to organise everything at one time, one place and with one company. Holidays should be first and foremost about fun, and package holidays place the emphasis firmly on having a good time. Package holidays include your flight, transfers and accommodation.

Check with the travel agency or tour operator about exactly what type of resort your chosen holiday is in. Check to see if you can pre-book seats so that you can sit together on the plane. Several companies now offer this service but some charge for it. Check out holidays tour travel to Las Palmas Canaria. The most tour travel deals in Las Palmas Canaria are done in the winter.

Package holidays are a form of product bundling. Package holidays offer safeguards not available with other types of travel. These benefits mean different legal obligations for the businesses selling them. Package holidays have been around for years and I am sure everyone will know someone that has went to a travel agent and booked a holiday through them. Is the tide turning though?

You can see that there's practical value in learning more about cheap package holidays abroad. Can you think of ways to apply what's been covered so far?

ATOL Protection extends primarily to customers who book and pay in the United Kingdom. Click on the ATOL logo if you want to know more. ATOL Protection does not apply to all holiday and travel services on the web site. Please ask us to confirm what protection may apply to your booking.

Tour operators, airlines and hotels have taken note of this fact and thus have designed cheap packages that can make Magaluf holidays affordable during the summer months. Thus, the otherwise popular Magaluf summer holidays have become even more popular because of the cheap packages and deals being offered. Touristy places to avoid - especially in August - would be Balearics, Canaries, and North Africa because they are going to be filled with thousands of French & Brits on family holidays & teenage revelry variations.

Tour operators and UK travel agents are accessible to do the legwork to reserve your flights, selection the best dates for travel, as well as find you great deals on accommodations and food. All package holidays typically are worldwide vacations, which means you only need to take the destination and date of move around your busy work schedule, and provide the travel agents to find your lowest priced option for everything you need to travel- your plane tickets and even airport parking in some cases, as well as the place you'll sleep all night of your vacation and the food you'll eat! Tourists who would like to take a peek at the rural life of Kerala will find a Houseboat Cruise extremely appealing. Tours can be adapted or extended according to your requirements.

Difference between First Class and Economy Flight Tickets

By Amy Nutt

When it comes to the difference between first class and economy flights, it can vary a great deal from airline to airline. Also, not every airline offers different classes, or an upgraded service. For those who do, the competition can be strong. First class flights can vary from everything from more leg room and more luxurious seating, all the way up to private suites with beds and a wine selection that would wow some of the finest restaurants. Of course, all of this depends on the airline and the type of aircrafts they have in their fleets. Airlines are not operating a business where there tends to be a lot of loyalty from their customers, so many continue to offer first class services to help them keep their customers coming back.

Economy class will provide you with a choice of private movies to view, or your coffee served in a china mug, as you would expect to see in a dining establishment. However, you will still be treated as fairly as passengers in the first class section. Some airlines have introduced a "premium" economy class on international flights which offer wider seating and a better seat adjustment so passengers can recline further. They also offer a higher quality and standard of food on the menu and a better beverage service, which is much appreciated when you are going to be on a plane for a ten to twelve hour flight. The cost for premium economy is not much different than the cost for regular economy class so it would no doubt be money well spent for a bit of added comfort.

Many airlines are looking at possibly dropping first class seating and simply offering a higher quality service in economy or the business class seating. The reason for this is ultimately, the prices they charge for first class. The special added extras are all very nice but many people are looking at things from a more practical side and to pay double of what you would for economy or business tends to bring people back down to earth.

For example, on average, a flight from JFK Airport in New York to LAX in Los Angeles costs approximately $360 for economy, but to take the same flight in first class will total $1360. Unfortunately, it is often reported that domestic first class service is far better from that found on international flights, so this is something you may want to investigate and consider before booking your next trip. Some people reported that the service was poor and the usual perks associated with "first class," are non-existent during domestic flights. Granted, the flights are usually not very long but at the same time when you pay for first class flight tickets, that is what you want to receive once you have boarded the plane.

The difference between the two classes of flight tickets in general lies between the service, cost, and what the individual flying feels is acceptable service. The flight service for first class is more attentive, has better food choices, and a number of "perks". Plus, generally there is more room offered and a better comfort level. The seating is at the front of the plane, which is divided from the rest of the passengers in business or economy, giving the illusion of importance. There is also greater leg room. If the price of first class, even though it runs generally double to triple the price of an economy class ticket, does not trouble you, then check with your airline before booking your next flight to find out the specifics they offer, and see if it might be the right flight choice for you.

* Acapulco has become as popular as ever with college students. Now there are more Spring Break packages to Acapulco than ever before.

* While Bermuda is always at the top of the list, it is quite expensive. Therefore, Aruba has become the alternative destination with fabulous beaches, wonderful people, and fantastic weather. Unlike Bermuda, all Aruba hotels are on the beach.

* The Bahamas is another affordable option and offers reasonably priced accommodations and fabulous beaches.

* Finally, for an all-inclusive package to either "nowhere" or from Florida to the Bahamas, cruises have become highly touted as the best possible vacation venue for most college students.

Safety is also a concern this year, especially in Mexico. Crime has risen in well-known resorts such as Cancun, and it is advised not to travel there this year. Acapulco, however, is the exception.

Panama City Beach, FL is one final destination for you to consider. It has become a booming destination for Spring Breakers in the past few years. Comprised of beautiful beaches, plentiful parties, and hopping clubs many college students will want to consider Panama City Beach as a final "resort."

Any one of these destinations would be a wonderful way to relax and enjoy Spring Break. It is highly recommended that you book early. Either check with your travel agent or utilize the online travel companies.

Meal Ideas To Be Used On Private Jet Charter Flights

By Chris Channing

A private jet charter is a luxurious form of travel. You shouldn't have to settle with eating a basic ham and cheese sandwich, especially when on an extended flight that could take hours to reach the destination. Lining out your catering needs beforehand is, thus, required.

We call the kitchen area of a jet the galley. Each galley can be expected to be minimal, unless of course you have splurged on a private jet that cost a pretty penny. Expensive models come standard with new steam heating technologies, while less expensive models will have little more than a microwave. Some jets even lack a means of refrigerating foods, which in itself cuts possibilities down greatly.

Meat that has been properly frozen will present a problem for private jet owners. Meat can be thawed out, but cooking it in a microwave will result in a meal far from five stars. Methods can be taken to pre-cook the meat so that you only have to eat it up, but that too requires that you have a means of keeping the meat cold until you will have need for it in your meal.

Preparation doesn't have to be done while in-flight. Instead you can go back to your roots and take an old-fashioned lunch box of your favorite items on board. Items that have to be chilled will be placed in the coolers provided by the jet plane. If none are available, no worries, you can always use a cheap cooler and fill it with ice from any convenience store.

Catering is done for clients that don't want to worry about the food problem, and yet still want to eat like a king during the flight. Catering companies are experts in making the best of a small galley, and can even perform dinners for vegetarians or for special requests. Catering is going to cost a lot more money than what you would pay in preparing food yourself. If cost isn't a factor, private jet charter companies can give leads on good services.

Losing sight of the real goal of nutrition is easy when focused on what you can or can't create in a meal. Do remember that staying properly hydrated and maintaining nutrition is key to enjoying the vacation or business meeting that is to follow the flight. Request that your caterer include a healthy supply of nutrients, carbohydrates, and allow for a variety of foods of all groups to be included.

Final Thoughts

Cooking technologies designed for jet charters is improving all the time. As mentioned there are already ovens that are being used with the power of steam. Keep up to date on the utensils you can make us of in your galley to make your food possibilities more enjoyable.

The accommodations at Deer Valley Resort are all individually managed by property management companies. There are central reservations booking companies as well as websites which allow you to search property managers and contact them directly. Contacting the property manager directly will often result in the best deal.

Season dates vary throughout the property management companies; however it is generally accepted that winter high season is from December 21 to January 6 and the second week in February through the end of March. By Carrie Plescan

An all-inclusive incentive travel deal can save you money, and that's good news for corporations! If you are looking to motivate your staff by sending them on an incentive travel trip, all-inclusive bargains make a lot of sense.

For one, these all-inclusive deals save you a good deal of money as everything is included in one package. By 'everything' we mean, lodging, food, amusement, extra facilities and activities as well as sight seeing. Some all-inclusive resort hotels also provide additional benefits for example flight bookings and airport transfers. With all that, it's a great bargain, isn't it?! All offerings are carefully adjusted in one package and no there's no fuss, and no surprises.

These type of all-inclusive plans provide multiple benefits in the form of reduced spending and a relaxed time as the resort staff grapples with all the particulars.

In these times of economic problems, you cannot entirely avoid incentive programs for your employees. Good employees who work hard all through the year deserve, some appreciation or acknowledgment for the loyalty they exhibit. Although corporate gifts like movie tickets often work well for workers satisfaction, nothing compares to an entertaining incentive travel deal.

The importance of sending your employees for an incentive travel program is just as crucial as any other business-enhancing program. Therefore travelling on all-inclusive deals that save on expenses become all the more important.

Be sure about your requirements prior to finalizing any all-inclusive travel bargain. Different vacation resorts provide various types of all-inclusive programs. Some of the resorts might have beachfront location that may imply a lot of water based activities. Some resorts might be placed on hilly terrains that could facilitate lots of trekking or hiking activities. Based on your employees' likes, you could opt for a proper theme for your incentive travel program.

Have a Great Vacation

By Kermil J. Fogarth

You worked hard for a year and now you need a vacation to relieve all that stress and to try and come back with memories worth sharing with friends.

If you have a family then they must be involved in the choice of a vacation location. A surprise location can be fun but if there are children involved you must choose a location that has things for them to do so the surprise doesn't become a tragedy. Taking children away from friends, even if only for a week seems to be something that requires an effort so you must offer them new and exciting things to do that makes them want to go. Select things that combine education and pleasure if possible.

Once you have chosen your location, keep in mind that the weather there might be different from that in your own country. In the mountains it always tends to be a little cold even in the summer and you should bring along clothes that go with that kind of weather. if, on the contrary you are going to tropical and hot locations, do not forget an umbrella. In these places, although it is summer for almost the entire year, it usually rains a lot and you dont want a heavy rain to make you sick.

There are wonderful places to visit all around the world. If budget allows it, you can make a trip around the world to visit the seven worlds wonders, it is always worth it. The Pyramids for instance are mysterious buildings, dated since the ancient Egyptians, enclosing a technology and architecture that can be hardly matched even today. Go and walk through these world wonders to try and elucidate the mystery, to see for yourself the simplicity of the people and the splendor of the country.

Or you could choose to vacation at home. Relaxing and catching up on lost sleep if travel would be too exhausting. Getting together with friends, having barbecues, sitting around the pool with your children will help to forget the trials of the past year.

A vacation can simply be time spent at home winding down or an exciting trip to exotic places. Planning the vacation can be as intense as actually taking the vacation even if you stay at home. The vacation should not be stressful when the purpose is to relieve stress.

Dubai Profile

By Trevor Reeves

According to official figures, 99 per cent of the residents of the small, once insular United Arab Emirates (UAE) reside in Dubai City. This makes the distinction between city and Emirate very small indeed.

Dubai is growing faster than any other city in the Persian Gulf region. New and luxurious hotel complexes, shopping centres and high-rise apartment buildings are being built daily. The face of this highly modern city with over a million inhabitants is constantly changing, yet always a bit eccentric.

In addition to countless corporate headquarters, ultra-luxurious hotels and resorts, and high-end shopping malls, Dubai is also home to the largest indoor snow park in the world, fittingly called Ski Dubai, itself located inside a gargantuan shopping mall. Opened in December 2005, the temperature inside the facility at the edge of the Arabian Desert is a constant -1 C, while the temperature outside soars to 40 C under the merciless desert sun. It would seem that in the city of Dubai, anything is possible.

Oil - black gold of the Emirs.

Dubai has been governed for over 170 years by the Al-Maktoum clan. Under their leadership, and with substantial investment from Britain, the harbour of Dubai has become the most important commerical port in the Persian Gulf. The local inhabitants used to earn their living by diving for pearls. Their lifestyles changed drastically with the discovery of oil in 1966 and the economic boom that followed.

Persian Gulf tourist destination.

In addition to the oil industry, Dubai's economy relies on tourism, banking and trade. Great efforts have been made to promote Dubai as a tourist destination. The most exclusive residential quarter of the Emirate now boasts a number of world-class luxury hotels, including the famous Burj At Arab, the "Arab Tower".

Designed to resemble the sail of a traditional Persian Gulf ship, the 54-storey hotel is 321 metres tall. It is the tallest, most expensive and most luxurious hotel in the world. Visitors can play tennis at a dizzying height on top of the "helipad" overlooking the Arabian Gulf 311 metres below. The Wild Wadi Water Park and Madinat Jumeirah shopping mall are located nearby in the suburb of Jumeirah. Then there are the Palm Islands, tear-shaped artificial landmasses built in the shallow gulf waters. They provide additional land for vacation homes, villas and hotels. Several nearby Gulf islands await similar development.

The river that is not a river.

The wetlands known as Ras Al-Khor divide Dubai into northern and southern sections. Ras Al-Khor is not a river but a shallow inland bay. Small passenger ferries called abras carry people from one side to the other for a small fee, or traditional lateen sailboats can be rented for a more extensive tour. A protected national wildlife area, the Ras al-Khor is home to over 100 species of birds, including a resident population of 500 greater flamingos.

Tourism promotes restoration.

Most of the places of greatest interest to visitors in Dubai's Old City are found along the Ras Al-Khor. Naturally, there are also many mosques in Islamic Dubai. The Great Mosque, built in 1998, is between the al-Fahidi Fort and Ras al-Khor. Al-Fahidi Fort was once the seat of the emirs of Dubai. Restored in 1970, it is now the National Museum.

The Bastakia Quarter is one of the oldest parts of the city, making up the larger part of its historic centre. Having survived the twentieth-century building boom without sacrificing its ancient charm, the government now plans a complete restoration, including a museum, cultural centre, restaurants and art galleries. Houses in Bastakia are notable for their "wind towers", a traditional means of air conditioning. Cool air currents are pulled into the centre of the house through vents and windows. The system is so cleverly designed that that even the smallest breeze circulates through the rooms below.

Visiting Austria

By Graham McKenzie

One of the most visited countries in Europe is the country of Austria, and it is no wonder to see why. Apart from its breathtaking landscapes and sceneries, travelers visiting the country of Austria are treated to an endless array of brilliantly designed buildings and palaces. It is also the home of the waltz and the famous child prodigy and classical music master Mozart. Indeed, the country of Austria is a jewel that every person must visit at least once in their entire life.

For most travelers, especially those who are planning to go on a cross-country trip, perhaps the biggest concern is how to get around. But there is nothing to worry about. There are a number of traveling options that you can avail, regardless of your budget, while you are in Austria. Here are just some travel tips to help you explore the country of Austria hassle-free.

Public Transportation

When to Go

Car Rentals

If you have some extra cash to spare, you can also opt to rent a car while you are visiting Austria. Like the unlimited passes, car rentals can be booked well in advance. Most of the well-known car rental companies have branches here in Austria and reservations can be made over the Internet. You can also inquire with your local travel agent about car reservations being included in your package if you are getting a packaged tour from them since these are given at a discounted rate.

Austria is a cosmopolitan city and as such, there is a wide variety of different modes of transportation that you can avail of during your stay. Buses and trains are ideal if you are visiting the country of Austria for the very first time. Apart from taking you to the major tourist spots within a particular city, these buses and trains would also take you to and from one major city to the next at regular schedules. You can avail of all-day and weekly passes from your local travel agent prior to your trip. These passes provide you unlimited access to buses and trains that go through the country, making it ideal if your itinerary involves you traveling from one major city in Austria to another.

There are a number of different places to stay in Austria, depending on your budget. Hotel accommodations are numerous throughout the country, but they could be quite expensive if you book it directly with them. The average cost of a hotel accommodation with breakfast is between 50 and 60 per night. You can try going to your local travel agent who may be able to provide you with a reservation at a hotel of your choice at a discounted rate.

Austrian traffic authorities are extremely strict. Make sure that you adhere to all of the rules and regulations of the country with regards to driving in order to save you the inconvenience of having to pay a fine, which can be rather costly. For example, when driving, make sure that you keep your headlights open, even in the day time. Failure to do this can mean you having to pay a fine of 15.

Creative Holiday Savings

By Alexandra Vrugt

Nobody wants to be a scrooge or grinch during the holiday season. But, with prices constantly soaring during this economy crisis, it seems like there are not a lot of opportunities to buy for cheap anymore. Well, take heart in knowing that despite the economic climate, holiday shoppers can still find deals by using a little bit of creativity and by being resourceful. Here's where to look for the best places and ways to give and still save during this holiday season:

Volunteer or give a financial donation to your gift recipients favorite non-profit. You would be surprised at how valuable a little gift of time is to a struggling non-profit organization. If you decide to give a financial donation to the charity of their choice, remember that you don't have to tell exactly how much you gave. Whether you gave $5 or $5000, consider keeping it to yourself but just let your loved one know that you supported their interest.

Don't be ashamed to check the thrift store for great gifts. People donate all kinds of brand new appliances, toys, clothing, and art to thrift stores. You may be able to get a high end item for pennies on the dollar. Buy it, wrap it, and watch the recipient enjoy it. Nobody has to know where you purchase your gifts. That is a major misconception that we have as consumers. The whole point of giving is to present someone with something that they will appreciate. It doesn't matter where you get it.

Garage sales, yard sales, and holiday festivals have plenty to offer! All sorts of organizations such as churches, non-profit organizations, and schools have holiday sales where you can find arts and crafts, homemade baked goods, and tons of special deals. Since people are usually discarding their old stuff to get ready for their own holiday celebration and gifts, they are very likely to advertise rock bottom prices to ensure that they get rid of everything.

Bundle baskets with dollar store items! With a little creativity, you could create fabulous gift baskets for a portion of the regular store price for a pre-made basket by simply using all items from a dollar store. From gourmet favorites, teas and coffees, to pet items, there is something for everyone. They even sell the huge basket wrap and...tons of different baskets. If you don't want to do the "basket" thing, then just group items and secure them with pretty ribbons. Then, place the paired up items in gift bags. Make very small bags with one or two items for unexpected visitors. You will save tons of money over the normal retail cost.

Shop the sales, always take advantage of a store's double coupon policy, and get stores to "beat" each other's prices whenever possible. Your holiday season can be happy and bright if you can focus on the people that you love instead of all of the money that you are putting out. It is possible to save and enjoy!

Zipping through the Trees in Monteverde, Costa Rica

By Daniel Q. Floyd

I just came back from a week long 21st birthday party. I spent it in Costa Rica and it was all I could have hoped for and a whole lot more. While my buds were busy bar crawling here locally, I figured I could do the same thing in another country and a whole lot more while I was at it.

I found the most amazing canopy tour in the community of Monteverde and I have to say, it was awesome! The place I went to is called Selvatura and they offer these incredible ziplines tours through the canopy of the rain forest. It's absolutely safe but a total adrenaline rush none the less.

If you've ever wanted to know what it's like to be a bird, I strongly suggest you try ziplining. Just checking out the world from away up yonder is a once in a lifetime highno pun intended. From what I was informed, Canopy tours are great for people of almost any age. I know for sure, they are perfect for a 21 year old.

"I survived the road to Monteverde," is a popular T-shirt being sold in town. As anyone who has traveled the road will tell you, it definitely earns you bragging rights. Like the ziplining though, it's worth every nail biting moment of it.

Monteverde is basically in the middle of Costa Rica. It boasts spectacular views of the Gulf of Nicoya from almost any angle, protected forests at every turn and an abundance of wildlife. It is a must NOT miss on any visitor's itinerary to Costa Rica.

In case you haven't heard, Costa Rica is one of the most desirable international destinations in Latin America. This peaceful nation is sandwiched between Nicaragua to the North and Panama to the South. It differs from its neighbors though because instead of fighting wars it got rid of its army years ago and has invested in education and health care instead.

I could have stayed a lot longer in Monteverde but hey, at some point I had to get back to reality. My friends have had to listen to my stories now so much that I think they are about ready to jump on a plane and check it out for themselves. I can't think of anything that beats the canopy tours for pure fun but I will suggest to all that visiting the local "wildlife" in the many bars and restaurants is worth your time as well.

How To Speak Spanish Like A Spaniard

By John Lazaring

There are many reasons why someone might want to learn Spanish. Perhaps you are planning a vacation to a Spanish speaking country. It could be that you dont really need to speak Spanish at all but you just want to say that you can. Being able to communicate in another language certainly gives you a great sense of achievement.

My reasons were a little mixed. For a long time I had wanted to learn another language, and for some reason I was always drawn to Spanish. I think one reason was because the little I knew about Spain at the time somehow appealed to my sense of good living. Sun, sand, siestas, late night dinner parties and dark skinned beautiful women! Of course there is far more to Spain than this, but for me, Spain and the Spanish language held more appeal than say Chinese or French did.

I was about to pass through as many as 19 different countries where the official national language was Spanish. Well that was a back in 2002. Since then Spanish and all things Spanish both in Spain and in Latin America have literally taken me over. I wouldnt have believed it then but now Spanish is a part of my every day life. I can speak, read and understand Spanish to the point where I dont have to think about it too much.

When people ask me if I can speak Spanish fluently I am always a little hesitant to say yes. The truth is that even though I can communicate in Spanish with relative ease I still dont feel that I know enough. I am not really sure if I ever will! There are always new words and phrases to learn for example and of course these vary from country to country. Best Spanish Language Course website will show you how to speak Spanish fluently.

So, how did I get from not knowing a single word of Spanish, to being able to read a Spanish book, speak to a Spanish-speaking friend or watch a Spanish novel? Well the answer to that is what I intend to write about in the coming articles. I am not going to lie to you and say that the journey was an easy one. The truth is that learning a new language takes time and requires alot of patience and commitment. However what I really want to convey at this point is that anybody can do it if they have a desire to.

When I went to school the only subject I failed in was French. For some reason I just couldnt get my head round it. Before I started learning Spanish I knew nothing of other languages. I started right from the beginning. I guess what Im trying to say is, is that if I can do it then believe me anybody can. Learn Spanish Now is the best website to learn how to speak Spanish.

Israel for Tourists

By Sandy Jones

Israel's summer months, which occur during the winter for Australians, are completely dry. If you are coming for the sun, beaches and water sports, you can rest assured that not even one day of your visit will be interrupted by rain.

Israel boasts hundreds of miles of beautiful beaches dotted with world-class beach resorts. Para-gliding, wind-sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities are abundant. Scuba enthusiasts will especially enjoy the unique opportunity to dive among ancient Roman-era ruins in the shallows of the Mediterranean Sea, or enjoy the grand coral displays nestled in the clear blue waters of the Red Sea.

Israel also caters to hikers with vast networks of marked, but largely untouched hiking trails crisscrossing geographical locations as diverse as deserts, pine forests and snow-covered mountains. Come during Israel's winter months and you can even ski!

A Culinary Experience Israel has something special to offer the culinary tourist as well. Home to Jewish immigrants from around the world and Arab clans from all reaches of the Middle East, Israel's national menu is as diverse as they come. Chefs who compete at the highest levels in European competitions stand ready to serve up this wide array of specialties at an every growing number of gourmet establishments.

Complementing Israel's rich assortment of foods is a local wine industry that is starting to grab the attention of top international critics. Wines from many of Israel's boutique and larger wineries - all of which offer tours and tastings - continue to win international awards and accolades.

Historical Crossroads Having played host to some of the world's most ancient civilizations, Israel is a paradise for history buffs. Just about every patch of dirt in Israel has some bit of history underneath it, often making construction of new structures a nightmare.

Fully developed archeological sites providing a glimpses of life in pre-historic times, the biblical period, the Roman era and the Middle Ages - to name just a few - abound in Israel. Each and every historical site carries a unique story that could fill books, and many have.

A special bit of history for Australians is the famous charge of the Australian Light Horse Brigade during the Battle of Beersheba in 1917, widely reputed as the last successful cavalry charge in history. The charge effectively broke the Ottoman Empire's southern defenses, allowing British General Lord Edmund Allenby to advance on and capture Jerusalem and marking a major turning point in World War I.

A memorial to the Australian Light Horse has been erected in the southern Israel city of Beersheba, and more than 1,000 Australians, New Zealanders and Britons came to Israel in 2007 to reenact the charge on its 90th anniversary.

The Holy Land Israel is best known to travelers as the Holy Land, an area central to all three of the world's monotheistic religions.

Jerusalem is the heart of the Holy Land, hosting the Temple Mount, Western Wall and the Garden Tomb where Jesus is said to have been buried. But the rest of the country is not left wanting for religious significance.

Jesus' boyhood home of Nazareth and his base of ministry on the shores of the Sea of Galilee are sites not to be missed. Nor would any tour be complete without visits to locations in Israel's southern desert and central mountain regions that the biblical patriarchs called home.

All in all, Israel is a well-rounded travel destination for every kind of tourist, and is second to none for those interested in history and religious pilgrimage.

Ghost Tours and Sightings In Brisbane

By Patrick Daniels

Not only is Brisbane home to the UFO Research Queensland, an non profit, voluntary association that receives, researches and records UFO sighting, It is also considered one of the most haunted cities by the International Haunted Places Directory.

The directory contends there are ghosts residing in the hallways of many Brisbane institutions like Old Government House, Parliament House, Brisbane Arcade and even Brisbane's City Hall.Allegedly it is not uncommon to see the ghostly figure of an elderly lady from yesteryear wandering the staircases of city Hall or a maintenance man, long departed going up and down in the lift.

Local historian Jack Sim conducts Ghost tours of Brisbane's most historic haunted sites including places like the Boggo Road Gaol (Brisbane's most infamous Gaol) , Toowong cemetery and Dutton Park Cemetery (Brisbane's oldest burial ground) .If you are lucky you can spot ghostly apparitions and white lights as Jack recounts stories of Brisbane's ghostly and murderous history.Ghost tours also offer Ghost Hunts of sites that have a history of haunting and paranormal activity where you can spend the night in a haunted house. With the help of Queensland Paranormal Investigators, participants spend an evening conducting a paranormal study of a site to determine if its actually haunted or not.

To start your own Brisbane ghoul hunt, begin at the oldest inhabited building in Queensland, the Commissariat Stores on the banks of the Brisbane River in William Street. It was built in 1829 and is home to some gruesome reminders of Brisbane's past: a jar containing two shriveled convict fingertips, the old hanging beam of Boggo Road Gaol and lots of great stories.

If you would prefer to conduct your own ghost hunt, here is what you could do. Start out at the oldest inhabited building in Queensland, Commissariat Stores, on the banks of the Brisbane River on William Street. Built in 1829, it is home to gruesome reminders of Brisbanes past, such as a jar containing two shriveled convict fingertips, the old hanging beam of Boggo Road Gaol and lots of great stories. Newstead House, Brisbanes oldest surviving residence, built in 1846, has been said to have several ghosts including a 12 year old girl whose favourite pastime is rearranging the shoes in one of the rooms. The Breakfast Creek Hotel, where a past publican allegedly fell out of the window, is said to have him frequent original parts of the hotel and The Plough Inn at Southbank is said to have two ghosts wandering inside its walls.

If you catch a ferry across to St Helena Island on Moreton Bay, there is a ghost tour at night of the convict cemetery retelling stories of those who never left the Island. Finally, why not take a detour into Brisbane's murderous past by going on the Mayne Inheritance Tour. This is a tour based on a true story about the Mayne family, one of Brisbane's most influential families with a murder in the midst; alternatively, you cold read the book of the same name by Rosamond Siemon.

Information on UK Flights to Spain

By Graham McKenzie

Spain is considered as the world's second largest tourism industry and this is very obvious. Spain for years has been a preferred by British vacationers specially, and the interest for Spain never goes down.

Spain is a vast and diverse country, comprising great coastal regions, lovely cities, villages and the mountain ranges. The best part is you can easily get to wherever you want to in the country. Madrid, Seville, Barcelona, Alicante, Valencia and Malaga, are among the main cities in the country. Most of the cities house international airports, which get direct flights from the United Kingdom. Iberia is the national airline, though several major charter airlines as well as the budget airlines also operate flights here. Ryanair operates flights from the United Kingdom to the 15 separate airports in Spain.

Madrid is the capital city of Spain and is the largest. It is situated in the middle of the country; and is bordered by the mountains. Most of the sightseeing spots are positioned in this historical centre. You will get to see the medieval architecture, cathedrals, and the churches in this region, blended with chic shops and vibrant night life.

Tourists seeking museums and the art museums must see Museo del Prado, as well as the National Archaeology Museum. The Palacio Real also known as Royal Palace is a gigantic and attractive structure, that shouldn't be missed and also the Plaza Mayor, which is again an arresting square, in Madrid.

Madrid has a continental climate - warm and wet summers and colder winters with snow being a possibility.

Airlines operating flights from the United Kingdom to Madrid, arrives at Barajas International Airport, which is around15 -20 minutes from Madrid, and is connected well to the hole world.

Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain, positioned on Mediterranean coast. It is a lively city, and is a sought after tourist destination, for years. The blend of historic and contemporary attracts many tourists. The main attractions are Ciutat Vella, the old town, and Eixample, which is the modernist area, popular for art nouveau architecture.

The climate here is Mediterranean, so warm temperatures all year round with the hottest and driest times in the summer and rainfall and mild temperatures through the winter.

To reach Barcelona, fly in to the International Airport, also known as El Prat, only around 6 miles from the city.

Other popular city destinations include Valencia on the Mediterranean coast, where paella was invented; Alicante, to the south of Valencia; Bilbao, in the north; Cadiz, the oldest city in Western Europe; and Seville, where you'll find the world's third largest cathedral.

Spain is mostly popular due to the numerous Mediterranean coastal resorts and the several miles of powdery beaches.

The Costa del Sol (meaning 'sun coast') is the most prominent among these. The Costa del Sol is roughly 100 miles long and covers Malaga. To arrive to this area of the country, book a flight to the Malaga International Airport, which is served by numerous carriers, and thus has much competition for the route. You may get some cheap deal.

Going, further east into the region of Granada, you can laze around in some of the secluded beaches or enjoy skiing in Sierra Nevada region, during the winter. The flights from the United Kingdom directly land in Granada Airport, or go further east, into the Almeria Airport, where the flights coming directly from the UK, are obtainable.

Almeria is a relatively unspoilt portion of coastline which offers some lovely beach resorts, as well as mountains, desert and national parks and is a good alternative to the Costa del Sol.

All of the southern and eastern coastline experiences a Mediterranean climate, so is a good place to visit at any time of the year, though particularly the summer for a beach holiday.

Bondi Beach is Your Ticket to Fun

By Brad Peterson

Just a short bus ride or car trip from the SW capital of Sydney, Bondi Beach is a must on your Australian to-do list. Pronounced with a long "i" as in Bonzai, Bondi is the place for beach days of sun and fun.

Dating back to the Sydney's suburban expansion in the 1850s, Bondi Beach's unique name is derived from the Aboriginal term for "sound of waves crashing on rocks."

With nearly one kilometer of white sand, Bondi Beach is a great place to get away from the populous Sydney and enjoy South Wales' beautiful beaches. In their migratory months, schools of dolphins and even whales can be seen off the coast. The rare fairy penguin has even been known to make the occasional appearance.

As a starting point, there is no better place than the Bondi Pavilion. Stop by the Community Center for some visitors information, get ready for your beach day in the showers and changing rooms, or see the outdoor amphitheater.

Hitting the beach, stroll along the sandy coast and sunbathe with the bronzed locals, or take a swim in the clear blue waters on the northern side of Bondi Beach. For more challenging waves, surfers can head south, where the water can be perilous for a swim but heaven for a surf session. In the summer months, lifeguard patrols are all over the beach and shark nets are laid out for further protection.

To immerse yourself in local beauty, try one of Bondi's popular nature walks. From the old Pavilion (ca. 1928), hike up to the cliffs of Bronte. You'll encounter some of the oldest wonders of nature along the way in Hawkesbury's sandstone belt, which paleontologists date to 225 million years in the past. Or make your way to Waverley Cemetery after stopping at the old bath houses in Bronte.

For a taste of Bondi's racy beach culture, check out the southern beaches, where local ordinances are ignored by topless sunbathers on a regular basis. In fact, the beach holds the world record for biggest bikini photo shoot of all time.

Popular local events include the 14-kilometer City to Surf Fun Run which takes participants from downtown Sidney to the sandy coastline of Bondi Beach every August. In September you can enjoy the Festival of the Winds, a kite festival which is fun for the whole family.

Bondi Beach has many options when you get hungry, from four-star restaurants to tiny cafes in sight of the water's edge. Mix with the locals and share a toast in one of the many pubs.

Bondi Beach has been featured as the backdrop for a number of television series, including Breakers and Bondi Rescue, which follows the efforts of the lifeguard patrols.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Bondi hosted the beach volleyball tournament for all the world to see.

Accommodations are available in all price ranges, from backpacker hostels to upscale hotels, with small hotels and bed-and-breakfasts in between.

Only a thirty minute drive from downtown Sydney, take Oxford street from the capital and follow it as it turns into Enfield Drive and finally Bondi Road. Because parking can be so difficult, locals suggest arriving via public transportation to avoid the hassle. Numerous buses arrive from Sydney everyday.
